✯Release Review✯From the Embers by Aly Martinez

I may have carried her out of that fire, but the truth was, Bree saved me.

From The Embers, an all-new not-to-be-missed, standalone catastrophic romance from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez is available now!

In the aftermath of tragedy, it’s strange the things you remember.
The deafening boom as the house exploded.
The paralyzing fear as I searched for my wife.
The blinding smoke burning my eyes as I carried her out.

But carved into my soul for the rest of my days would be the earth-shattering realization that the woman in my arms wasn’t my wife.

Bree and I were the only survivors—not that either of us were truly living after that night. As a single dad with nowhere else to go, I moved into her guest house. And somehow, through the guilt and grief, we forged an unlikely team.

It took years, but I watched the gradual return of her smile—slow and life-altering.
The two of us could sit outside for hours, talking about nothing, and it filled the massive hole in my chest with new life.

I may have carried her out of that fire, but the truth was, Bree saved me.

As we healed, the secrets and lies of the past smoldered in the ashes, threatening to ignite again.

Our love was born from the embers, and together we would go up in flames.

✯✯5 Eason & Bree Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Aly Martinez I’ve been waiting forever for you to release your next book. From the Embers was 1000% worth the wait!!

Eason is married to Jessica and they have a daughter. Bree is married to Robert and they have two kid’s, a son and daughter.  They’re all friend’s. Bree and Jessica have been best friend’s their whole lives. Eason and Rob have been best friend’s since college. They’ve all been thru a lot together. Eason is a singer/songwriter. Thing’s haven’t gone the way he’d hoped. He’s struggling to stay afloat and his marriage is def struggling to survive. Bree’s a stay at home mom. Rob took over as CEO of the company she created and they were happy. They all hung out and got along great. Well, most of them. Bree is Jess’s best friend so she hears everything and she thinks her best friend can do better than Eason. No matter how many time’s Rob tells her he’s the best.

One night they get a babysitter to watch the kid’s at Robert & Bree’s house while they hang out at Eason & Jessica’s house.

One minute the four of them are hanging out and the next boom the house explodes.

Eason is the only one standing after the explosion. He see’s Jessica first and pick’s her up and then he sees Bree and he promises her he’ll be back.

When they get outside Eason realizes he wasn’t carrying his wife but he was carrying Bree. Together they watch his house burn with their loves in it.

Both Bree and Eason are distraught at loosing their husband and wife as well as loosing their best friend. Other then their kid’s they’re all alone. Bree and Eason sit down and come up with an arrangement that’ll be good for their kid’s as well as themselves. Eason and his daughter move into Bree’s pool house. During the day while Bree goes back to working as the CEO of her company, Eason will watch their 3 kid’s.  At nighttime Bree is on kid duty and Eason will work on his music.

For a year Bree and Eason worked together taking care of their children day and night. Thing’s definitely got better between Eason and Bree. They went from being frenemies to becoming best friend’s. With everything going on they wouldn’t of survived without each other. They both start feeling thing’s they’re not sure how to feel about it. They’re not sure if the other one is feeling the same thing’s or is it just them.

But before they can make sense is what they’re feeling thing’s get ripped apart at the seems for a second time for them. They realize that Robert and Jessica were hiding something from them. And, they def weren’t ever thinking this was something that was ever possible of happening. It def made them think twice about what they were going to do with their feeling’s about each other.

I read this book in one afternoon/evening. I’m a huge Aly Martinez fan. Ever since book one. I don’t have to ran a blurb for it to go on my TBR list.

This book was no different!! It has every emotion I had. I’m so glad Aly wrote this. She made me go from not liking Bree to liking her a lot. I always like Eason. In the beginning I knew he was a good but didn’t have it easy. I was glad he had Rob in his corner. But, man Aly has a way of making character’s go from a favorite to not one from not fav to favorite. I’m excited to read her next release.

Excerpt

Using my arm to block my face, I carried her lifeless body to the door. The knob seared my palm as I yanked it open, but the pain didn’t even register through the adrenaline. The sound of my feet pounding down the driveway echoed in my ears as the fire crackled behind me. Our closest neighbor was over half a mile away, but there was no way they hadn’t heard the explosion. The fire department would be there soon.
Once I got Jessica safe, I’d go back for Bree. They’d find Rob. Everyone would be okay.
“Eason,” she croaked in my arms.
My feet were still moving as I sprinted away, but time stopped as her voice permeated my senses.
It wasn’t possible.
She was covered in soot, and my eyes were caked with ash and what I would later learn to be blood, but I could still make out the large flowers on her yellow—
“Uh, no. It’s my dress that your wife borrowed and I had to do an entire Tom Cruise Mission Impossible thing to get it back last week.”
Oh, God.
I kept running until the wind changed direction, clearing the smoke. With my heart in my throat, I prayed that my still ringing ears had deceived me. I set her down and used the inside of my shirt to clear my face.
“Eason,” she croaked.
But once again, she wasn’t my wife.
“Oh, God,” I breathed, watching as she rose on unsteady legs. Tears carved twin riverbeds through the ash on her cheeks.
“What happened?” Bree asked, her green eyes focused on the blazing inferno behind me.
Acrid guilt devoured me. “I…”
I saved the wrong woman.
I left the mother of my child in a burning building.
My final broken promise to the woman I’d vowed forever to was, “I’ll be right back.”
Bile crawled up my throat. “I don’t know.”
I glanced back at the house, the heat of the roaring fire scorching me even from yards away. Overwhelming grief hit me as I realized there was no way I could get back through those flames.
Oh, God. Jessica.
In the middle of tragedy, it’s strange the things that become engrained into your memories. Years later, I wouldn’t be able to tell you how long it took the firetrucks to get there. I couldn’t tell you what time it was or what I had been wearing. But I would never be able to forget the absolute devastation on Bree’s face when she realized we were the only two standing outside the burning house.
“Where’s Rob?” she rasped, her voice sounding like it had traveled over a mile of gravel before exiting her throat. “And Jessica. Where are they?” She took an urgent stride toward me.
“I tried…” I doubled over into a fit of coughing. It was probably for the best. There was no way I could have finished that thought.

✯✯5 Unsafe Action Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Well, Kate L. Mary you’ve done it to me again!! I’m sitting here again speechless after finishing Far From Safe. I thought I was speechless when Far From Home ended but I was even more so mind blown this time around.

If you haven’t read Far From Home then stop and go back and read it before you open this book. This isn’t a standalone and can’t be as one!!

We pick up exactly where we left off. Rowan has finally made it home and in time to see her poor mom walking down the block with the rest of the neighbors who’ve all passed and are now zombies. With no word from her father in weeks, Rowan is positive he passed away while working at the hospital. She’s lost her parents and is devastated but she must keep going or she won’t make it.

Rowan, Devon, Kiaya, Lisa and Buck must figure out what’s next for them. Bc, it’s not just themselves they gotta look out for. As much as Rowan wants to stay locked up in her childhood home and hide, they’re running low on supplies and not hidden away safely and there’s zombies surrounding them.

The group comes up with a good starting plan. Check out Rowan’s neighbors houses for two things 1-survivors and 2-supplies. Grab as much as possible that they can use. Then, head to the stores and stock up on everything else. Afterwards, they gotta figure out where they can go to that’ll keep their group together and safe. Rowan has one other thing on her list of things to do: bury her mom but she’s keeping that to herself for now.

Things definitely aren’t easy in times like this. You gotta be on guard 110% of the time.  BC, at any minute a zombie can pop up outta nowhere and attack. Then there’s the chance you bump into somebody who’s not dead but they’re far from a good person.

While out on a supply run they come across zombies but when they do bump into humans Rowan was shocked she knew one of the living. It was her ex Doug and Rowan definitely wasn’t happy to see him. She was glad he wasn’t dead but didn’t wanna see him lol.

When Doug and his crew invite Rowan and her friends to join them at the school they’re at none of them are totally sure it’s the right decision. They know it’s safer then where they’re at now. When they get there they’re even more unsure them before. Before they can really figure out their next choice they find themselves in real trouble and Rowan throws herself head first into the lions den with some dangerous lions.

I felt so many emotions reading this. My heart pounded so many times. I kept hoping and praying nothing happened to Rowan, Devon, Kiaya and Lisa every time they left the house.

Miller is still a tool. He’s a complete jerk and my gut is telling me he’s lying about who he really is. Never really had an issue with Hank before but now I’m getting creeper vibes of him.

I liked Buck from the beginning. But, now he’s showing another side to him and I wasn’t sure how it was gunna turn into. When he told Rowan his story and what made him into what he was OMG I was laying in bed crying and feeling for him and didn’t blame him.

Now we have Doug back in Rowan’s life. I totally 100% understood why she felt the way she did towards him. Shoot I have some ex’s who have done me wrong so I get it. I don’t know how it’s gunna be with him yet. But, he seems like a good guy. He proved himself with a few things so far that chipped a few notches in his favor.

When I read Rowan’s moms letter I was legit bawling right along next to Rowan. I don’t know  if I would’ve survived after reading a letter like that from my mom. I’m just saying.

I’m excited for the next book after the explosive cliffhanging ending!! I’m gunna need Devon and Doug to man up, team together and put their heads together and get Rowan outta the horrible mess she got herself into. Please guys!!

Prologue

The palms of my hands are sweating.
Standing in front of an unassuming building, I look up to see its sheer size. Still, it’s inconspicuous because it looks exactly like all the other buildings surrounding it.
The sun breaks out just behind the brick building, casting the entrance into shadow.
Funny, that. Because I’ve been living in the shadows all my life. Now is the time for me to come out of the shadows, and speak my truth.
Speak our truth.
There’s a line of cars in front of the building, all marked with the same lettering.
My heart beats quickly as a shock of finality runs through my veins.
This is where part of me will die and another part of me will live.
All my life I’ve been worried about what people think of me. But I can’t continue on in a life where I’m only breathing. I need to learn to live.
I take several deep breaths, ready to cross the street and take the leap I’ve been longing for.
“You can do this,” I say to myself. The sun is moving higher, the shadow becoming smaller.
Yes, you can.
I look to my left, and to my right, checking for oncoming cars.
I keep walking, crossing the street. I know if I stop for even a second, I’ll talk myself out of going.
You can do it.
I walk until I come to the automated doors that slowly slide open.
Hopefully, they’ll believe you.
I head to the counter, where a woman with dark hair pulled back in a severe ponytail and wearing a uniform is working on a computer. She looks up, but remains seated. “Can I help you?” she says in a flat voice.
My hands tremble, so I knit them together to stop the emotion bursting to come forward.
“I, um,” my voice quivers with uncertainty.
“Are you okay?” She stands and comes closer to the counter. She looks behind me, searching for a hint as to why I’m so edgy.
“I, um, need to talk to the police unit who deals with sexual abuse.”

                ✯✯5 Echo Filled Stars!!! ✯✯
I’m bowing down to Margaret McHeyzer again!! Whenever I finish a book by her I’m blown away all over again. Whenever I finish a book by her I say it’s my new favorite book by her and then she releases another book and I’m saying it all over again lol. Echoes of You was no different then all her other books.

I can sit here and write a nice lengthy review and you’ll know everything. But, I’d hate to give everything away. I was on a crazy ride of emotions from the first sentence to the last.

The prologue made my heart break. Then part one started and my heart was pounding bc you’re introduced to three characters that all have a role to play and that role made my stomach turn upside down and inside out every page.

At part two we met Molly. She was adopted at seven years old to two amazing loving parents. Her sister Tina was adopted as well and they’re the same age and share the same birthday. They’ve been best friends and sisters since the day they brought Molly home. Their family was extremely close and none of them ever thought that would change. But, they always say never say never.

The girls are graduating high school and turning 18. Tina starts dating a guy and when Molly meets Dylan, Tina pushes for a double date. When Molly meets Tina’s boyfriend instantly the hairs on her arms raise. Molly doesn’t get a good vibe of him but Tina won’t hear about it.

Dylan is a little older then Molly but he’s legit an amazing guy!!! Talk about the perfect guy.

I kept waiting for Dylan to pull the rug out from below me bc nobody is that amazing.

When tragedy hits Molly’s family it hit not only rained but poured. Bc, Molly’s demons decided that moment to return to the surface and blindside everybody close to her.

At the end of the day the people closest to her will standby her side but the one person that can help Molly get past what she’s going thru is Molly herself.

I read this book so quick I’m not sure I remember breathing when I read it. That’s how good it was. I hardly looked up from my kindle.

This book definitely can trigger some people if you have triggers. There’s both physical abuse and mental health issues that Molly and her family have to deal with.

Margaret writes stories that are 110% real life for a lot of people in the world today. And, story after story that Margaret publishes she writes them all beautifully. Even though some or multiple parts of a book might be hard to read but believe me Margaret has 1000% done her research for every single subject that she puts down on paper. Echoes of You was no different. I’m really, really looking forward to her next release.

Author Bio

STRONG, BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS CHARACTERS.

**Write something worth reading**

I'm Margaret and I'm a self-published author.

Recently I was fortunate in obtaining New York Times best-selling status on my YA/NA book - Ugly, and my YA book - Mistrust.

My last six books have been YA and I'm completely in love with the genre. I love being able to communicate with people through my words and stories.

My writing genres all differ, but the one thing I keep consistent is my heroines. All my female lead characters are strong, gutsy and not the 'perfect' woman. While my books all have romantic elements in them, they aren't just about the romance. They're about finding strength, acceptance and making life long connections.

I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I have while writing them.

✯Release Review✯Truly Mine: Mason & Sophie, #1 (Roommate Duet #3) by Kennedy Fox

This is a friends-to-lovers roommate romance filled with drama, suspense, and, of course, plenty of angsty slow burn goodness you've come to expect in a Kennedy Fox book!

Truly Mine, Book 1

The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized.

As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and taunting lips. Resisting her wasn't an option, and we quickly became a desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest sin, and I was no saint.

Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting her wasn't a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs.

Friends. It's all we can ever be.

After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I want to pull her close. Sophie's on my mind more than ever as my instincts to protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away and makes it clear she doesn't need me.

I'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, to show her I'm the good guy, but one night takes a tragic turn for the worse when her boyfriend and I start throwing punches.

And ends when I'm arrested for his murder.

✯✯5 Nail Biting Stars!!!✯✯

Omg we’re finally getting Mason & Sophie’s story!!! Kennedy Fox ended Baby Yours with a gigantic explosion that set up perfectly into the start of their story.

Truly Mine starts off with Mason’s POV of what ended previously in Baby Yours that ended with Mason handcuffed charged with murder.

Sophie met Mason few years prior to that night. While waiting for her sister Lennon to show up at the bar with her then boyfriend Brandon, she met this guy who instantly made her feel things she’s never felt before. Sophie decides to do something she’s never done before. After a quickie in the bathroom which was the best she’s ever had, she learns the guy is Brandon’s best friend Mason. Then Mason tells Sophie he can’t rock the boat by being with her and she knows being around him will not be easy.

Mason doesn’t do relationships anymore. Not after everything that went down. Mason feels guilty no matter what anyone tells him. When he met Sophie he thought she might be the one he’d break his rules for and then she turned out to be Lennon’s older sister and Brandon would kill him if something happened between them.

For few years mason tried keeping Sophie at arms length but it was difficult. Sophie became extremely good friends with his best friend & roommate Liam, so her and her youngest sister Maddie were always at his house.

Mason hasn’t been with anyone since he was with Sophie and he doesn’t want to either. When Maddie talks Sophie into joining a dating app he knows he’ll loose Sophie and deep down he doesn’t want that.

When Sophie starts dating Weston everything changed for everybody. Sophie stopped coming around, stopped returning calls and texts and she was very withdrawn. Mason looked into Weston and learned he wasn’t who he said he was.

After the night everything went down Sophie moves in with Mason and Liam. Mason was home, not allowed to work thanks to his jerk father, the district attorney. That forced Sophie and Mason spent more than enough quality time together. Their chemistry was sizzling off the charts hot. Just when these two seem to have figured their crap out, the past comes knocking on their front door all over again.

My heart, soul and everything else loves Mason. Poor guy couldn’t catch a break. He was punishing himself for something that wasn’t even his fault and then was pushing away Sophie when he should’ve been holding her. By the time he realized it she’d moved onto the devil himself. Now, he’s trying to save her for the second time.

Sophie Sophie Sophie. I loved her in the previous two books. I still liked her but I’ve got issues with her. Sophie’s definitely naive and in my opinion stupid.  She wanted somebody to love her so bad she was imagining her and Weston’s life together during their second date. Dunno if she was just trying to remove Mason from her heart & brain but she moved way to fast into that.

Just when I thought she had it figured out she brought somebody else into their lives who I didn’t trust from the beginning. But, now it’s Mason and Liam to the rescue lol literally.

I’m dying for Truly Yours BC this ending!!! Kennedy Fox sure ends their duets off on cliffhangers of death!! I’m also really looking forward to Maddie and Liam’s story BC these two are gunna be something else lol.

✯Review✯Baby Mine: Hunter & Lennon, #1 (Roommate Duet #1) by Kennedy Fox

Blurb

I saw her first.
Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten.

But it didn’t matter because she chose him and he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed.

To her singing in the shower every morning, dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall and claim her mouth.

She’s constantly on me for making messes, bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good; however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.

And then the unthinkable happens...
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life.

**BABY MINE is an angsty, emotional, slow-burn romance wrapped up in a heartbreakingly delicious love story. It's book 1 in the Hunter & Lennon duet of the Roommate Duet Series and must be read first.**

✯✯5 Tragic Stars!!!✯✯

Kennedy Kennedy Fox. What have you done to me again?!?!?! Kennedy Fox are the Queens of the duets. I already know when I get to the last few paragraphs, ESP the last one, few lines I’m going to be left with a rushing heart, blood boiling and jaw dropped. Baby Mine was no different lol.

If you read Forever Mine you know Hunter was in a tough situation being so close to the one person he wanted but was untouchable. But, now we get the story in full.

Hunter meets Lennon while bar tending. The instant feeling he gets from her is unlike anything he’s ever felt before. But, before he got a chance to get to know her she meets Brandon. Brandon’s Hunters best friend and roommate. That moment changes Hunter’s life.

Hunter loves, respects and cares about Brandon the same he does for his brother Hayden. He’d never do anything to hurt Brandon. He never tells Brandon he met Lennon first or his feelings for her. Only Hayden knows and Hunter plans on keeping it that way.

When Lennon moves in Hunter can’t take it. Between her singing in the shower, them eating dinner together, her insistence on the apartment being clean he’s loosing his mind. Hunter does everything to piss Lennon off. Making her stomp her feet, storming out of the room, he’ll do anything to make her hate him. As long as Lennon and Brandon don’t know his true feelings he’ll survive somehow.

Sure Lennon felt something when she met Hunter. But past relationship made her guess herself against Hunter. When she met Brandon he was unlike any guy she’d ever met.

Their relationship developed quick. She definitely didn’t wanna live with Hunter but until he either moved out or her and Brandon could afford their own place she’ll deal with him.

Lennon doesn’t know what she did to him to make him treat her the way he does. Brandon assures her that’s just Hunter and not to worry. She loves Brandon and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Then one night there’s a knock on their door and Lennon and Hunter’s life will never be the same.

These two are distraught, angry and beside themselves. Lennon lost the love of her life. Hunter lost his best friend. They’re left living together, grieving and trying to figure out what to do next.

Hunter takes care of Lennon. Making sure she’s eating, sleeping and everything else. Their relationship changes drastically. They start to become friends. Best friends. Their feelings are all over the place. Lennon’s sisters are telling her it’s OK to move on and Hunter’s friends telling him she’s off limits. A baby is is coming and there’s a stage five clinger in the picture. It’s a full on crap shoot. I’m not sure what’s next.

I read this in one day. Hunter and Lennon’s story is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. I’m dying for Baby Yours bc these two are in desperate need of a HEA after everything they’ve had thrown at them.
