Blurb

From New York Times bestselling author Margaret McHeyzer....

I’m the popular girl at school.
The one everyone wants to be friends with.
I have the best boyfriend in the world, who’s on the basketball team.
My parents adore me, and I absolutely love them. My sister and I have a great relationship too.
I’m a cheerleader, I have a high GPA and I’m liked even by the teachers.
It was a night which promised to be filled with love and fun until…something happened which changed everything.

                   ✯4 Mistrusted Stars!!!✯✯

This is not my first read by Margaret and it won't be my last. All her books have left a mark with me. Including this one. She has a way of bringing real life issues into her stories and nailing it.

Dakota is the popular girl who's dating the popular basketball player and going to her junior prom. She struggling with if she should sleep with her boyfriend for the first time or not. She thought she was ready. But, now that the days here she's really not sure. Dakota knows he loves her enough to wait for her.

While at prom with her friends enjoying her time, Dakota takes a sip of her soda. It's then her world turns upside down. Next thing Dakota knows she's waking up next to the bleachers. She's bruised, bloody, her dress a mess, she's hurting all over and the worst part is she has no idea what happened and how she got there.

Dakota realizes rather quickly she's been raped. She instantly feels dirty. No matter how much she tries to get clean it doesn't work. She refuses to tell anyone what happened. Dakota tries to pretend everything is OK. If she had it her way she would've never told anyone. She was fine until her sister Sam found out something happened and she broke down to her.No matter what her sister said Dakota did not want her parents to find out.

Not only did this book bring you rape it was also about bullying and the minds of teenagers. But, in reality I'd think most women who've had these things happen to them, they'd have the same things running thru their heads. Dakota learned who her friends really were. She had to learn to trust herself and others.  I think every teenage girl needs to read this.

Trailer

Excerpt

Dragging myself out of the gymnasium and down the hall, I try and get to the side double-doors. But with no one here to help me, it's difficult. I need to sit for a moment out on the steps leading to the back field and gather myself.

My legs become heavier as I get to the doors. The cyclone happening inside my head is growing thicker while my vision is so unclear I can barely make out any objects.

Stumbling down the first step, I barely recognize where I am.

“What’s happening?” I think I say.

There’s a cacophony of dense sounds; a combination of white noise, mumbling, and a beat which doesn’t make sense.

My eyes are now so heavy I can barely open them and my legs are completely weighted as I attempt to make my way down the stairs. I think I’m going to pass out.

Author Bio

There's something about the written word that is pure magic.

Possibly it's the fact there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, and they can create something so beautiful or so empowering they're capable to change our lives.

How important is it that we break suit and stretch our minds?

I like to think of myself as 'unique'. My stories aren't for everyone, and sometimes I may push what you believe to be 'normal'.

Normal is subjective.

I prefer to be known as a person who's never been 'bound by custom' but is 'unique by choice'.

I hope you do read and enjoy my stories.

Perfect Rage (Unyielding, #3)

 ✯✯5 Perfect Stars!!!✯✯

Holy hell!! If you haven't read the first 2 books in this series you need to stop and go buy Perfect Chaos and read it. Now! Because, if you haven't read it and book 2 Perfect Ruin I promise you that you'll not get the whole back story and you won't appreciate this story as much. I'm so incredibly glad I found Nashoda Rose.

This is Connor's story. We first hear about him in the first book because of his sister Georgie and her man Deck, who's the lead guy on their missions. Then, in the last book we find out that Vault had him captured and experimenting on him for 7yrs. Deck and Kai and the rest get him out. Where we get a glimpse of Catalina "Alina". I had thought when I started this I knew what I was in for. Yup. Nope.

This book is from both Alina and Connor's POV and weaves thru time. From when they first met and when they were separated and present. They meet when Alina is on the run from a dangerous guy. Their first meeting had me lol. They both knew instantly there was something about the other one. They knew their time together was limited. Even though they knew that they spent all their time together. Until one day Connor found a letter from Alina. She was gone.

The next 7yrs were hard for both of them. The only thing keeping Alina going was that Connor was safe and living his life. Until he wasn't. After he was taken, abused and drugged for years until he didn't recognize the love of his life. Now, that he was rescued and he got Alina out and safe. Connor has an even worse battle to beat. He's a killer now and done things he can't all remember. But, now that he's off the drug things are coming back to him. ESP Alina and his friends. Connor will do anything to stay away from Alina in order to protect her. Everyday and night Alina hopes and prays Connor comes back.

Wow.Wow.Wow. What an awesome end to an incredible series. I thought I fell for Deck and Kai. They have nothing on Connor! This guy got put thru hell and back. Yet, he still wants to protect the people he loves most. Even if that means staying away from them in order to protect them. He had the perfect woman in Alina. She'd do anything for Connor. Anything. I'm so upset this series is done. I wonder what Nashoda is doing next.

Excerpt

As a sea of women disperse, a tall figure stands, and my heart hammers against my chest wall, like I’m standing on a wire, high in the sky, between two skyscrapers.

“Cinderella,” he says, his voice shallow, but sure of himself.

“Don’t call me that,” I respond, my feet frozen in place.

“Who is that?” Jen asks from behind me.

“That is Ella’s first love, Crosby Lynch.”

“I thought Liam was her first boyfriend?” Jen questions, her voice slowly fading to background noise.

Crosby breaks the small distance between us, and I swallow the large lump in my throat. My body screams for me to run or to pinch myself out of this dream, but his eyes still mesmerize me into submission.

“No, she and Crosby are destined.”

I hold my hand up in the air to stop Brax from rehashing history.

Crosby is still breathtakingly gorgeous. His dark hair is shorter and messy, and those hazel eyes still hold a glint of the devil in them. The cocky smile plastered on his face as he shoves his hands in his pockets, almost has me jumping in his arms and thanking him for coming back for me. But one question overrides my body.

“How long are you here?” I ask, bitterness lacing my voice.

He tilts his head. “Until graduation.” He glances to Brax. “My guess anyway.”

That cocky smile grows as the lump in my throat shrinks.

Quickly, the room starts spinning, and my breathing becomes more labored. He’s the new baseball player I heard Coach Lipton talking about.

“Oh my God.” My hand lies over my heart, and I close my eyes, trying to find my bearings, but the room continues to spin.

“Get her to the damn couch, Boy Dreamy!” Jen hollers.

Crosby grabs my elbow. His touch is so warm, so comforting, so safe. He guides me to the couch, but instead of setting me down, he places me on his lap. My eyes float around the room. Girls’ eyes are now glowering at me, Brax’s eyes are studying me, and Jen’s eyes show her pure ignorance to how serious tonight just became. As my eyes circle back to Crosby, I see he’s smiling again, his thumb brushing along my hip bone, as though we’d warped back to our senior year of high school.

“You okay?” he asks, his voice snapping me out of the haze.

I fall from my abrupt movement to flee from his lap, but spring up to my feet. “I’m fine. Fine. Why wouldn’t I be?” I ramble, fiddling with my hands while tapping my toes. “I mean, you’re here. In Ridgemont. Playing baseball and living in this house.” My vision shoots to Brax. “With Brax. Why would I not be okay?”

I look over to Jen, who’s finding way too much amusement in my predicament.

“Man, whoever you are, you’ve unglued Miss Perfect, and I love it.” She smiles wide at Crosby and then places her hand out in front of him. “I’m Jen, this crazy girl’s roommate.”

Crosby takes her hand. “I’m Crosby, perfect girl’s soon-to-be boyfriend.” He shakes her hand, his eyes on me.

“Ha. I love it. You are perfect for her.”

She turns to me as I swallow down my anxiety, glaring at a still shirtless Brax. Maybe he could have been more specific at the door. Then again, who am I kidding. I’d give up my envied internship for a chance to see Crosby.

“You need to dump the fucktard and take this man up on his offer.” She thumbs toward Crosby.

I throw my hands up in the air.

“You have a boyfriend?” Crosby’s voice is low and has lost the confidence it held moments ago.

My fidgeting stops, and our eyes lock. Hurt floods out of his eyes and most likely mine as well.

“I need a drink.” I spin around, knocking into a dancing couple. I straighten myself and determinedly head toward the kitchen.

“A boyfriend?” His deep voice rings out above the music.

I grab a cup and start filling it up with beer.

The room quiets, and all eyes are on him. It’s like déjà vu. Eyes have always lingered on Crosby, his whole life, when he was the star baseball player in high school and even when he wasn’t. His charismatic personality mixed with his talent give him a presence in any room.

The damn tap is only pouring foam, and in frustration, I smack it on the pile of ice, dumping the Solo cup on top of it.

His strong hand picks up the cup, and he grabs the spout. The muscles in his forearm flex while he’s pumping the tap. Unable to gain the composure I need to look at him, I stare down at his hand pouring me the perfect beer.

Our fingers brush in the exchange of the cup, and my whole body tingles, aware that my first love is back. Needing to brace myself, I lean against the wall, acting nonchalant by bringing the cup to my lips.

Even if this isn’t my typical college night, I sure as hell need to act like I’m not facing the only guy to make my heart ricochet against my chest wall.

“I’m sorry. I have no right to be angry,” he says, standing to my right with his back to the wall.

“You left me,” I whisper, relieved that the noise level has picked back up. I’m not even sure I want him to hear my admission.

His arm is no longer pressed to my shoulder, and I calculate he’s moving. Then, his shoes come into my view of the floor.

“What are you talking about? We left each other. That was the point.” He rolls back on his heels.

“You’re right. That was the point. Why are you here?” We made a pact, an agreement, that we would not contact one another.

“Can we please go somewhere else to talk?” he whispers back.

His hand reaches out, and I sway forward. My body heats up, the closer his hand grows to my cheek. He’s a millimeter away when he retracts, only igniting a burning in my flesh for his touch.

“Yeah.”

He nods his head in the direction of the living room but says nothing. When he heads toward the staircase, I stop walking.

“Not upstairs.”

He halts on the first step and peers around to find somewhere else. There are bodies everywhere, each corner already occupied with a couple or a cluster of girls. The house is not an option, and I wish the hope of being alone with him wasn’t so prevalent.

“Walk?” he asks.

I nod and down my beer, needing something to numb the pain in my body.

As we leave the baseball house, the situation is eerily similar to two years ago—when we intentionally hurt each other.

✯Release Review✯Bane (Bad Boys of X-Ops #4) by Rie Warren

Synopsis

High stakes.
Low margins.
And everyone wants the woman I’m teamed up with dead.
BANE
Swagger, strut, snarl. Three things I can do with both eyes closed. Oh, and shoot the shit out of tangos. I always do my job, whether it’s patching up a fellow operative or taking down a serious threat. Apparently this time my job is to babysit Baby Spy.
We’ve followed the Los Reyes de Guerra cartel to the drug-trafficking capital, Mexico City. Our orders? Get in with the guerrillas and ultimately take them down. There’s only one problem—I have another set of mission directives linked to Kiki AKA Baby Spy.
Should be easy enough. Except it seems I’ve developed an unhealthy attraction to Kiki, along with an inconvenient conscience. She’s a wild woman with an unforgiving attitude that definitely makes me bone hard for her.
Nothing is as it appears, least of all Kiki Damage.
KIKI
Yeah. They call me Baby Spy. I’m fully aware the entire T-Zone team blames me for narking out a previous mission gone wrong. So, I can’t understand why the powers that be assigned me to this op. Or maybe I can, which just makes my situation even more dire.
I know Bane wants me, but I’m beginning to think he has an ulterior motive for keeping me close. And it’s not just the panty-melting hot sex with the big, gruff, silent killer. There’s something incredibly vulnerable in the way Bane watches me, like he’s looking for one last saving grace.
None of that matters now. When the situation heats up, I find out Bane’s real mission. I may have fallen in love with him, but it’s already too late. This entire web of lies goes a lot higher than any of us ever imagined, and my neck is only the first one on the line.
Bane includes a special series epilogue from the badass women: Jade, Tilly, Blaize, and Kiki.

 ✯✯5 Bane Size Stars!!✯✯

Well, it's true when they say the save the best for last. Because, that's what Rie did with this series. She left Bane for last and man is he my favorite. Bane had everything I was looking for including the whole Bane/Storm drama.
Bane got recruited to T-Zone by boss lady Blaize. He's the quiet killer of the group. Bane is the next up to run the next Op. His next in command is none other then Baby Spy or better yet Kiki. Nobody is happy about this. The guys have had it out for her for almost a year now. Ever since Walker's Op got compromised. Then, Justice's. Now, Bane has to go to Mexico with her. Before he goes the head of T-Zone call and give him another job to do while in Mexico. Kiki must be KIA and they want Bane to do it.
Kiki is making it her mission to prove to Bane and the guys that she wasn't behind all the damage on their Ops. She also can't help her growing attraction to Bane ESP since she can see his attraction in his eyes. They have a job to do and that's with the drug cartel. She runs into somebody from a past Op.It's a good things she's there because Walker and Bane aren't smooth talkers like she is. When everyone has to split up her and Bane are on their own. Legit on their own away from everyone else. It's there that both their decks of cards are laid out on the table. It's now that everything is blown wide, loud and messy.
I absolutely loved this book!! It was the end to another fantastic series by Rie Warren. All the guys and their fierce woman are all back. Bane and Kiki were perfect for each other. They had lonely lives and they weren't complete until they opened their eyes and hearts to the other one. But, their happiness totally didn't come easily. There was some major obstacles in their way. Luckily for them their best friends are fellow bad-asses and don't like following the rules. This book was legit non-stop everything including the epilogue from all the women's POV. If you haven't started this series yet hurry up!

Excerpt

The door creaked open, and I slit my eyes in that direction. Between the dark and shadows, I fathomed Kiki’s slim frame entering the room.
“Where you been, girl?” I grumbled from my cot.
“Went shopping with Blaize. Got mani-pedis too. What’d you think?” Her low voice shivered across the quiet room—the sound alone setting my cock on edge.
I barked a laugh. That attitude. Damn. My dick stiffened even more beneath the thin blanket.
“That’s all well and good, but Blaize returned hours ago.”
“Had to get my hair blown out too.” She snarked back. “Mind if I turn on a light?”
Like fuck she got her hair done—or her nails. The woman was rough and tumble, just the way I liked her.
“Go ahead.” Hell yeah. Shine some light on her getting undressed.
I was already naked, and as the light popped on, I sat half-up. The blanket rolled down to my hips, revealing the beginnings of the tats on my shoulders that ranged up the back of my neck. A gritty design of all black ink—symbols that resonated. Brass knuckles, a smoking gun, bullets on fire . . .
No unicorns, rainbows, or fluffy shit for me. No wise sayings or inspirational words worn on my skin.
But—dead enter—one name hid among the other marks on my skin. Someone I’d always carry in my heart.
Kiki’s gaze took a clean sweep of me—my muscled torso, the brown hair centered down my abs and leading to my cock below. She probably noticed the tented fabric, too.
No mistaking a hard dick practically waving in your face.
She wore a small grin as she started shucking the sweet leather yoke holster strapped across her chest. Kiki came included with a fucklot of gear all attached to that yoke. KA-BARs she handled with skill and care, twin Glocks she set on safety.
“You going to watch?” She asked, bending over to unbuckle her boots.
“Yeah.” Rubbing a hand over my mouth, I hid the wolfish grin. “Could do the gentlemanly thing, but I’m not really that guy.” I shrugged.
She chuckled. “I can see that.”
“Oh. You ain’t seen nothing yet.” My grin stretched even wider if possible.
“Really?” She whipped off the boots, letting them fall where they lay. “You hiding something?”
She tugged her shirt over her head, revealing a simple black bra and a mesmerizing body. The woman wasn’t a classical beauty. She wasn’t BBF. She was gorgeous, edgy, different, and I liked it.
“You can come find out if you want.” The words rumbled from my chest as the heat in the room intensified with every shred of clothing she shed.
“Maybe next time.” With her belt unbuckled, she shimmied her narrow pants off her perfect hips and lean legs. “Thought you didn’t like me, anyway.”
“I’m usually not that quick to judge. Been on the receiving end of assholes’ preconceived notions before.” I hungrily watched as she bent over.
Nice ass. Firm full cheeks. Skimpy black bikini panties.
I could definitely work with that.
“So, do you have the other guys’ backs or mine in this op?” She stood before me, nothing but ivory skin, wicked eyes, nicely shaped tits.
Very fit for a fuck. Totally in shape for a nightlong naked workout.
The pale blonde/light pink streaked fauxhawk. The inked sleeves all the way down to the backs of her hands—black tats in delicate paisley and sunburst designs. Too recognizable for someone in our line of work? Maybe. But she had an instant in with the younger, hot-on-the-button criminal element.
And with me.
Kiki usually covered her hair with a skullcap, her ink with leather gloves.
She was one fucking cool cat. I didn’t care what the other dudes thought about her.
“Your back. I’ve got yours.” Unless I have to shoot you in the back.
I pushed my blanket even farther down, showing off the hard-worked cuts of muscle on my lower abs. Six pack? That and more.
“Why don’t you come have mine?” I invited, the words growling out.
“That bed isn’t big enough for the both of us.” Kiki sauntered toward her cot. “But your ego sure the hell is supersized.”
She shuffled under the covers on her cot across from me. Reaching a hand out from the blanket, she dropped the black bra onto the floor between us.
“Damn,” I whispered in a hoarse tone. Then a laugh thickened from my throat. “It’s not ego, girl. It’s confidence.”
She flipped to her side, facing me as her fingers fumbled for the light switch. “Goodnight, Mr. Confidence. Hope you sleep well with that boner I just gave you.”

✯Review✯The Game That Breaks Us(Us #3)by Micalea Smeltzer

Synopsis

Hockey’s bad boy needs to clean up his reputation…

Bennett James has built his career at being the best, on and off the ice, and now it’s come back to bite him. The media has turned against him, and with a near career-ending injury, he needs to clean up his act and prove that he’s serious about the game. For Bennett, working with his old coach at his alma mater feels like a step back, but it might be just what he needs.

…and she’s going to help him do it.

Grace Wentworth has always been the good girl, and she’s tired of that stigma. She wants to prove that she can get down and dirty with the best of them. The problem? She doesn’t know how.

Bennett will teach the good girl how to be bad, if she pretends to be his goody two-shoes girlfriend in front of the media.

But what happens when the game becomes real?

 ✯5 Wentworth Size Stars!!!

Micalea has done it to me again. She's one of the authors that I automatically put their new books on my TBR lists even before they put  a blurb on. I been looking forward to this book for awhile now.

Grace Wentworth is off to college. She has decided not to stay close to home. Grace wants to go somewhere that everyone doesn't know her family. She's not the spoiled rich girl that you might think if you know her family. With her father and brothers Grace has never had a boyfriend or been able to do anything without one of them watching. Grace wants to change that. She wants to be a little bad. Luckily for Grace she meets the perfect guy to help her.

Bennett James is a professional hockey player. Bennett got picked up young and he had all the fame, money and woman throwing themselves at him. Bennett let it all go to his head and he's cocky and hockey's bad boy playboy. An accident off the ice lands him benched until he's back to fully healed. It's then Bennett realizes he needs a change or else he'll loose the career he worked so hard for.

Bennett goes to the one guy he knows can get him back in shape and ready to get back on the ice. His college coach. He will have to work harder then anything as well as stay away from the women. Bennett must fix his reputation with the public. Except he runs into freshman Grace and everything changes for them both. Both Grace and Bennett want something. Luckily for them they're perfect for each other. What started out as a friendship turned into something so much more.

At first I didn't think I was going to like Bennett. I can't stand cocky guys. But, Bennett really wasn't cocky. I think because he got signed quick he thought he had to keep up with the rest of his teammates. He lost his way. Bennett was super sweet, caring and truly cared for Grace. He wanted to give her everything he possibly could. All while trying to keep her outta the public eye and safe.

Grace is super caring. Even though she's young she knows what she wants. And, isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes. Even though there was one time I wish she would've gone with her gut, it showed her age. Which I loved.

Micalea has a way of bringing her characters to life. Making me want them as my friends or family members. This story was no different. I loved seeing more Trace and Olivia. Reading what Trace did to Grace at the movie theater has me dying and it reminded me of why I fell in love with Micalea in the very beginning with Trace and Olivia. Can't wait to read what she writes next.
