✯Excerpt Reveal w/Giveaway✯Wait(A Bleeding Stars Novel #4)by AL Jackson

  Wait COMING AUGUST 23       ALJackson-WaitBookCover5x8_BW_HIGH
From NYT & USA Today bestselling author comes a new Bleeding Stars stand-alone novel…

She is his strength and he is her weakness. And this time he won’t let her go.

Edie Evans is gorgeous. Sexy. Kind. She’s also the definition of off-limits. But that didn't stop me from sneaking into her room to comfort her at night. But guys like me? We destroy everything, so it should have been no surprise when I destroyed us, too. The night I sent her running, I thought I’d never see her again. Until I saw her standing like a vision in the crowd.   Austin Stone is dangerous. Alluring. Tempting. He broke my heart and I refused to give him the chance to do it again. It’s been years since I’ve seen him, and now I can’t do anything but stare at the gorgeous, tattooed man playing onstage. I should run. I know I should. But like a fool, I run straight back to him. Our desire is overpowering. Our need unrelenting. She is my hope. He is my weakness. We should have known a passion this intense would burn us right into the ground. ADD TO GOODREADS

“Edie…please…just…wait.” I gripped the railing as if it might propel me forward. Instead, my footsteps faltered and slowed. I stood facing away, my back heaving as his consuming presence swarmed over me from behind. “Please.” This time it was a whisper. A plea. Sincere. Slowly I turned. Drawn. He’d always been my weakness. Austin stood at the end of the walkway, just outside the reach of the lights, his body obscured in shadows. Even larger than I’d imagined when I’d first seen him up on stage. So foreign. So familiar. My heart ached. Because I was looking at the boy who’d been my best friend. The one person who I’d thought would completely understand. One who wouldn’t judge or make it hurt more than it already did. He’d been my safety. My haven. Until he’d dragged me right back into hell. “Why are you here?” My words cracked. “H-h-how…how did you find me?” I saw the shake of his head, and he took a single step forward, out of the shadows and into the glow of the single lamp attached high on the exterior wall that lit the way. It hit him like a spotlight. The boy was so beautiful. It was a threatening kind of beauty, a whorl of mystery and pain, sharp lines and corded muscle. It almost dropped me to my knees. He fisted his hands at his sides. The question was strained, hard as it pressed from his mouth. “You believe in fate, Edie?” Old grief I’d bottled for so long burst. It came out as some kind of maniacal cry. Incredulous. Oozing disbelief. “After everything that happened…that’s what you’re going to ask me?” “Edie…I—” “Do you have any idea how badly you hurt me?” I cut him off, my own hands fisting as I took a single step forward. “The damage you caused? Careless words, Austin. So fucking careless, thrown out there without a single thought to the repercussions, without any consideration of how they would affect me. How they would change my life. You promised.” My brow twisted with the accusation. “And now you have the nerve to stand there and ask me if I believe in fate?” I swallowed hard, shook my head. “You can go to straight to hell, Austin Stone.” He laughed, but there was zero humor behind it. “Come on, Edie. You can do better than that, can’t you? Considering you know hell is where I’ve been all along, and you and I both know I deserve so much worse. And yeah…those words were reckless, but you know they weren’t heedless. You couldn’t expect me to just stand there. Not with him. Not with what he was saying. Implying. I couldn’t.” The last cracked on the emphasis. I felt as if every cell in my body was being crushed. Squeezed so tight there was no chance but for everything to implode. “And because you lost it, I lost it all. You. My home. My future.” His big hands fisted. “I know. I…I fucked it up, Edie. Warned you, I always fuck it up.” But what he failed to say was he’d promised he wouldn’t fuck it up with me. I couldn’t tell if I was relieved or terrified when Jed suddenly rounded the corner. His sister, Blaire, was hot on his heels. “Edie,” Jed gushed out in relief when he saw me. He came to a stop a few steps behind Austin. As if he’d just stepped into the bristling intensity and it tripped up his feet. The stand-off. The war. Austin standing there? I knew that’s exactly what this was going to be. “What the hell is going on here?” Jed demanded. His voice twisted into a threat. He glared at the back of Austin’s head, worried eyes flicking to me, hardening when they snapped back to Austin. Blaire tugged at his arm. “Jed…I told you to give her a minute. Sometimes you need to let people sort out their own issues.” Jed just grunted and shrugged off her arm. Refusing to budge. Austin swung his head to look behind him. When he did, his face shifted to the side, all those hard, beautiful lines exposed in profile, his expression winding into a bitter sneer. “Nah, man. All’s good here. Just telling an old friend hi. Isn’t that right, Edie?” Aggression curled between them. Alive and raging. Jed was a burly, beefy, hulk of a man, a full beard covering most of his face, his brown hair cut short at the sides and longer on top. Had I ever imagined him and Austin going toe to toe, I would have put all my money on Jed. Now I wasn’t so sure. Jed lifted his chin, as if for the moment he was standing down, turning to me as his tone softened. “You okay, Edie?” I nodded. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Lie. Lie. Lie. I was shaken to my core. “I just want to go home.” It left me on a desperate breath. Jed pushed around Austin and stalked my way. “All right, let’s get you out of here.” As she passed by Austin, Blaire cast a searching glance in his direction, before her attention flickered over to me, a ton of worried questions moving across her expression. Questions I didn’t know if I had the strength to answer. With an arm wound around my shoulder, Jed spun me, breaking the spell Austin had me under, and tucked me into his side. Protecting and shielding. He began to lead me away, down the planks and toward his car waiting in the parking lot out front. With each step we took, I could feel the heat of Austin’s stare. That burning intensity I wasn’t sure I could ever escape. The hurt and hatred. It was a hatred I couldn’t tell who it was directed at. If it was aimed at him or me or the rest of the world that had threatened to choke the life out of us. The world we were supposed to take on together. Just as we started to round the corner, I paused because I just couldn’t stop myself, turned to look back at the man who stood there staring back at me. Emotion gripped his expression just as tight as the clench of his fists. Hard and tortured. As if I was the one inflicting the pain. I choked down the sorrow that rose like a cyclone, spinning and spinning, whipping up the old affection that longed for that soft, understanding boy to take me in his arms and sing in my ear. Dangerous. I searched inside myself for the shelter that secured my heart. The flimsy cover I wore that just barely kept me together. I forced myself to speak the words I knew would drive him away, as much of a lie as they were. “And for the record…no, Austin, I definitely don’t believe in fate.”     Wait_24         a Rafflecopter giveaway

 ✯✯4.5 Guilty Stars!!!✯✯

Wow!! I loved the first two books in this series and this was no different. It' a great quick read. Even though all three books are standalones I would definitely read them IN order.

This is Round's story. He's the old VP of the Grim Bastards. He stepped down when Baz's dad died and he took over. Round knew his son Smoke was the right man to sit at Baz's side to run the club the right way. Round's life definitely wasn't what he wanted. His life was his MC. He has proved it time and time again. Including when his daughter was against it. His Old Lady was everything but a proper Old Lady. Only in name. After she dies tragically he moves Lisa into his house. He's been in love with her for years now. Even though she'd be the perfect Old Lady and has been asked multiple times already. Round says he'll never take another Old Lady.

Lisa has been part of the Grim Bastards since she was seventeen. Baz's father gave her the job of over looking of the girls. When she fell in love with Round she stopped being a club girl. What his wife died and he moved her into his house she thought after six years he was going to finally make her his. But, after months of living out of a bag and with reminders of his wife all over the place. If that wasn't bad enough, Lisa hears words come out of Round's mouth that knocks the wind outta her lungs. Lisa went from feeling loved and at home, to a place that feels lonely and cold. She needs to do what's best for her before Round can open his mouth.

I absolutely loved this!! Lisa is just as awesome, strong, sexy and tough as the two previous ladies. Lisa has earned the respect from all the guys and ladies of this MC. She really looks out for the girls. But, that does not mean she can't tell when they're full of crap and call them out. And, in front of everyone! And, Round. I absolutely wanted to strangle him with my tiny hands. Multiple times! He definitely did not listen to his heart. It made me scream at times. I mean I understood his reasoning's behind his thinking. I do believe he should've acted differently. He's lucky he has Smoke. That's all I'm saying about that.

I love Emily and Shelley's co-writing. You never know who's writing what. Once I open their book it's not getting shut until it's done. That's how good they are. I'm looking forward to Smoke's story. Emily and Shelley better be writing lol

✯Release Review w/Giveaway✯Rounding Third(An Infielder Novel #1) by Michelle Lynn

Synopsis

I was destined for stardom.
From the age of seven, I was an all-star.
Parents praised me, coaches worshipped me.
As I got older, girls begged for me.
I was Beltline’s baseball God, guaranteed to put this small town on the map.

Then, after one night, that future vanished.

The legend was laid to rest.
I gave up my scholarship.
I fled from Beltline.
I left the girl behind.

Now, I’m back.

 ✯✯4.5 Crosby Size Stars!!!✯✯

I'm such a fan of Michelle Lynn. Rounding Third was the start of what I can guarantee will be another one of my favorite series. I read this book in less then one day. It was that good.

Crosby and Ella are high school sweethearts and plan on being together thru thick and thin. Until one night tragedy hit. Even though they made it out alive things weren't the same. Crosby and his family were chased out of their small town. Even though their parents wanted them to take a break Ella refused. Until the night Crosby told her they needed to go their separate ways. Crosby wasn't healed and it would be best if they went their separate ways and healed.

2yrs later and Crosby was getting his chance at the college playing baseball that he'd been working toward too since he left. He knows Ella is there and his old best friend Brax who's captain of the team. He knows he must face them after just up and leaving. But, he is ready to get Ella back. He just didn't think it would be this hard.

Ella was devastated when Crosby left. But, she spent the past few years working on herself and trying to move on. Right now she's settled for what's safe. But, she's not really happy. Then, Crosby walks back into her life right out of left field. Like how I did that lol ;). The chemistry and energy between them is still as strong and fierce as it was as the day he walked out. Even though Ella wants to jump right back into Crosby's arms it's not that easy. There's still so many things standing in their way of complete happiness. Between their town hating Crosby. And, Crosby hating himself.

This was such a sad, funny and beautiful story. Poor Crosby would've been burned at the stake if that stuff was allowed in today's day and age. Unfortunately, he hated himself he would've allowed it. Crosby was seriously such a good guy. He cared about everyone and took their feelings before his own. He's lucky he has his younger brother Spencer, Brax, Ella's younger sister Ariel and of course Ella.

Ella went thru hell and then some. Even though everything was against her she tried putting a good front for everyone to see. Without Crosby next to her she'd never be complete. Even though she thought she was healed, reality was she wasn't. She put all her new friends at arms reach because she thought she'd loose them too. It wasn't until Crosby and Ella reunited after being apart that they were truly able to heal.

This is going to be an awesome series. Michelle has given us an awesome bunch of guys. I'm really looking forward to Brax and the rest of their stories. I do wish Michelle had answered everything with this story. When the book ended I was upset over a few things left open. I'm hoping they get answered or I'll be upset. Other then that this is a must read.

Excerpt

Jogging up the stairs to the second floor, I sneak into the back row of the classroom. I pull out my laptop and quickly catch up with the professor’s lecture. The guy a couple seats down passes a syllabus over, and when I turn to thank him, I’m reminded that nothing comes easy in my life.
“Is there a reason you were holding my girlfriend’s hand?” Ella’s boyfriend whispers, sliding into the open seat between us.
Well…shit.
“She won’t be your girlfriend for long,” my cockiness answers for me. My arrogance is a great intimidator that’s always worked in getting me what I want.
“Who are you?”
As his beady eyes try to daunt me, I get an up close look at him. I can see why El might have fallen for him. He’s a safe bet. Probably riding the coattails of his family’s money, paving his way with his arrogant little bitch frat brothers. It only assures me of one thing. I don’t have to fight him for El. This guy wouldn’t start a fight if I fucked her right in the middle of his bed. El is just a trophy to him. He doesn’t love her like I do.
“I’m just an old friend. We have a long history together.” I glance at him from the corner of my eye, offering him a quick wink.
His knuckles whiten as he clenches his pen. It couldn’t be more satisfying, knowing I’m getting under his skin.
His annoyed expression tells me that Ella hasn’t been so open about her life and her past. This guy doesn’t have a shot.
“She’s taken, so keep your hands to yourself.”
A few heads flip around after his voice heightens.
Not needing a professor to hate me on day one, I lean in closer to whisper in his ear, “I can’t make any promises. It’s nothing personal, believe me, but technically, she’s always been mine.” I ease back against my chair right as the professor’s eyes catch mine.
Liam’s head whips around, and I wait for him to ask me to take our discussion outside. But he cowers, like I knew he would.
“Try to steal her away from me, and see what happens,” he says.
“I’m not going to have to try hard. Your time with her was over the moment she saw me.”
The professor forcefully clears her throat, eyeing us. If we don’t end this conversation soon, we’ll both be kicked out.
“Don’t be so cocky, asshole. The fact that I don’t know anything about you, and the fact that she’s never mentioned your name, show what she really thinks of you.”
“You two”—the professor points, and a hundred pairs of eyes turn in our direction—“since you’re so chatty, maybe you should be conducting the lecture this morning?” She crosses her arms over her purple blouse and waits for our answer.
“Sorry, Professor Knight,” Douche Bag says.
“Sorry,” I say.
She nods and starts the lecture back up again, her eyes continuing to linger on us.
He slides over to his original seat.
I strike my earlier thought. I have no idea what El sees in this weak shithead.
I lean over the now vacant chair, testing my luck one final time. “Don’t worry. I’ll be around. We can continue this conversation soon.”
He scoffs me off, shaking his head. His fingers start tapping on the keys of his laptop as he accepts his defeat for this round.

✯Tour Review✯Broken Lion by Devon Hartford

Synopsis

Bestselling author Devon Hartford brings you another scorching hot and scandalous standalone romance.

SOME SECRETS ARE TOO HARD TO KEEP

The night the EMTs rolled Lion Maxwell into my ER turned my life upside down.
Although he was bloody and battered from defending his title as the WMAA’s reigning cruiserweight champion, his cocky grin lit up the room.
And every cell in my body.
Our fiery chemistry was off the charts.
The ER staff sensed it.
Lion’s entourage and his drooling groupies sensed it too.
If the two of us had been alone, I might have done something entirely unprofessional and completely unethical right there in the exam room. But I was his attending physician. A sexual or romantic relationship with him was grounds for my termination or worse, revoking my medical license. I wouldn’t risk my career on a moment of passion. It didn’t stop that arrogant caveman from doing everything he could to get me into his hospital bed.
After denying his advances for weeks, the last thing I expected were the wild nights he would be spending in my bed.
It was supposed to be nothing more than a secret fling.
I knew it couldn’t last.
He was still my patient.
What we were doing was wrong.
If anyone found out, it could ruin my life.
But we couldn’t let go.
We were bound to each other on some primal level that consumed us.
Sometimes love is tragic.
Sometimes two people aren’t meant to be together.
But sometimes, two people overcome all adversity and build a love that lasts forever.
I knew deep in my heart that Lion Maxwell could be my happily ever after.
As long as we kept our love a secret.
I wish I’d known that some secrets are too hard to keep…

 ✯✯4.5 Lion Size Stars!!!✯✯

I don't know how Devon Hartford is a best selling author and I'm legit just hearing his name!? I'm just saying. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book because I've never heard of Devon Hartford before. But, the synopsis caught me and I'm really glad I decided to read this book.

Brigid is  a single working mom to her son Daniel, who she shares custody with her ex-husband. She's a Dr who works the night shift. Her life revolves around her son and work. Sometimes her son took  a back seat to her career. Brigid doesn't always like it. But, she does the best she can for her and her son.

Lion is a Champion MMA fighter. He's worked hard to get where he's at. And, he's worked very hard. But, he's missing something. When he gets hurt and ends up in the E.R and the beautiful Dr comes in, he's set on what he wants. Except she flat out tells him no.

Brigid goes by the rules. She will not  date, sleep or anything with her patients. Lion turns around and gets another Dr. Brigid still says no. Until her and Daniel go into the new dojo that's opened up. With Daniel wanting to join and Lion as the sensi Brigid was in trouble.

Brigid and Lion had such chemistry from the very beginning. There was no way for these two to stay away from each other. Lion never hid feelings, wants and desires for Brigid to himself. For a big, bad, brutal beast of a man in the cage, Lion really was a sweet and caring guy. He loved Brigid and Daniel more then anything. Brigid too was extremely strong. Her ex-husband was a prick and always was even when they were together. I didn't like that she did let her job come before her son at times. I understood that she wasn't going to cross the Dr/patient line. But, I couldn't stand that she'd play games. One minute she's all over Lion and the next it's like she's put him in time out. She's lucky it was Lion. Because, no guy would play by her many different rules.

I am looking forward to my next Devon Hartford read! I don't hear of many male authors. But, this was an excellent book. I read it in a day it was that good. There was plenty of times I was laughing out loud. It was a nice quick standalone.

Excerpt

Dragging myself out of the gymnasium and down the hall, I try and get to the side double-doors. But with no one here to help me, it's difficult. I need to sit for a moment out on the steps leading to the back field and gather myself.

My legs become heavier as I get to the doors. The cyclone happening inside my head is growing thicker while my vision is so unclear I can barely make out any objects.

Stumbling down the first step, I barely recognize where I am.

“What’s happening?” I think I say.

There’s a cacophony of dense sounds; a combination of white noise, mumbling, and a beat which doesn’t make sense.

My eyes are now so heavy I can barely open them and my legs are completely weighted as I attempt to make my way down the stairs. I think I’m going to pass out.

Author Bio

There's something about the written word that is pure magic.

Possibly it's the fact there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, and they can create something so beautiful or so empowering they're capable to change our lives.

How important is it that we break suit and stretch our minds?

I like to think of myself as 'unique'. My stories aren't for everyone, and sometimes I may push what you believe to be 'normal'.

Normal is subjective.

I prefer to be known as a person who's never been 'bound by custom' but is 'unique by choice'.

I hope you do read and enjoy my stories.
