✯Release Review✯Falling for the Playboy (Bedtime Reads #2) by Kennedy Fox

Never trust a man who gets paid to take off his clothes for a living and then uses it as a pick-up line to get girls in bed with him.

That should’ve been enough for me to call in sick that day.

I’ve worked with male cover models like him before and they’re all the same—smooth-talking, sexy as sin, egotistical know-it-alls who think they’re God’s gift to women—all traits I know to steer clear of.

Assisting authors comes with many perks—reading on the job, using my organizing skills on a daily basis, drinking coffee by the gallons—but Maverick Kingston barges into my life and demands more than I can handle.

When we’re forced to road trip across the country together, he pushes every boundary I have and rearranges my thoughts on playing it safe. And when he “accidentally” drops his towel, he makes it very clear what he’s offering and proves he’s packing more than abs of steel under his clothes.

Working with him was brutal, but falling for him was unexpected.
And playing by the rules will be impossible.

**This is a complete STANDALONE novel — filled with plenty of humor, steam, & romance! 18 & up only due to explicit sexual content, language, and adult content.**

✯✯5 Player Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Kennedy Fox is back with the second book in their Bedtime Reads series. It’s been so long since they released book one that I’d forgotten that Olivia was the main heroines assistant in the first book. The minute I realized it I was excited bc I wanted her story!

Olivia’s been working as Rachel’s PA since her last boss got married and moved.  Rachel has Olivia working pretty much 24/7 and if Rachel wasn’t such a nasty, miserable and just an all around miserable person Olivia wouldn’t care.

Olivia has set up her boss’s next book tour. If that wasn’t bad enough she learns the cover model Maverick doesn’t fly and she’s forced to road trip it with him. If Maverick wasn’t cocky, didn’t get under her every nerve and wasn’t a total playboy Olivia wouldn’t care.

Maverick is a model. He’s got a book tour coming up for an author whose he’s been the cover model for her latest series. Being this next release is the last in the series he’s going on tour with her. Maverick refuses to fly and he’s going to be road tripping the book tour his with authors assistant.

Maverick can tell Olivia is prissy, a prude and lives by the rules and her schedules.  He also knows this road trip will be fun. Bc, Maverick lives everyday like its his last. He won’t let Olivia run away from what could change both their lives for the better.

I loved loved Maverick from the first page. He’s the perfect guy who got a bad rap bc of his looks. I was excited he proved Olivia wrong.

Olivia, I liked her in book one.  But in this book I wanted to strangle her until her eyes popped out. She never ever had an issue giving Maverick crap for being 2 minutes late but that evil boss of hers nothing. She treated Olivia like her dogs crap was better then Olivia and she didn’t say boo. I just wish she’d opened her mouth.

I’m looking forward to the next book with Presley. And, I’m super stoked to be going back  to the Bishops farm!!!

EXCERPT

Olivia’s POV
“Can I turn off this church music?” Maverick asks thirty minutes into our trip. He leans forward and starts messing with the knob.
“It’s nice driving music,” I argue, swatting his hand away.
“You can’t be serious. This shit is gonna put you to sleep and then we’re going to crash and die. You really want that on your conscious?”
The corner of his lips tilt up just the slightest.
“Guess it wouldn’t matter. I’d be dead.” I flash a smug smile right back at him.
“Oh I see how it is. You look all innocent and smart but deep down you have this morbidness to you.”
I shoot him a look. “You’re the morbid one with all your crashing and dying talk.” I turn my music back on. “Now no more talking about it because if I don’t get you to these events on time, Rachel will actually kill me.”
“Why you so scared of her anyway? I could fit her in my pocket. She looks harmless enough.”
Glancing at him, I try to focus on the road and shake my head. “You know she’s anything but harmless.”
He chuckles, shaking his head. “Yeah, you’re right. She’s not a firecracker like you though.”
“I’m not even sure what that means, but you can’t label me when you just met me.”
“Oh, like you haven’t labeled me already?”
“I know your kind. I’ve heard plenty about you to form an opinion,” I tell him with purpose.
“God, you’re so hypocritical. You think you’re the first prissy, stick-up-her-ass assistant I’ve met? Doesn’t mean I know you just like it doesn’t mean you know me.
He kinda has a point, but I don’t tell him that. His ego is already taking up all the space in the car.
Ignoring his comment, I focus on driving. We’re in heavy traffic and I’m not used to eight lane highways.
“You better get over,” he says.
“I’m trying.” I look over my shoulder, searching for a spot to move into.
“Might wanna try the blinker. I heard it’s a signal for turning or moving over.”
I sigh and put it on. He’s distracting me.
“Stay quiet so I can focus.”
His chuckles are the last thing I hear from him as I attempt to merge across the lanes. Finally, I make it and we coast down the highway in silence until we’re leaving the city.
“When are we stopping for food?” He speaks up for the first time in hours. I look over at him and see he’s sticking his lower lip, making a pouty face. “I’m shriveling to nothing over here.” He slightly lifts his shirt up and pats his ridiculously cut stomach.
His eyes meet mine, and I quickly look away although he saw me staring. Swallowing, I look at the GPS to see how much further until our first stop.
“We have about an hour left,” I tell him. “Think you’ll manage to stay alive for that long?”
He groans, loudly and it makes me laugh. I quickly catch myself and stop.
“You have a nice laugh. It’s a pleasant change from your short fuse and snarl.”
“I don’t snarl!” I argue. “I just like having a plan and sticking to it.”
He noticeably rolls his eyes. “Okay, Miss Priss. Letting your hair down won’t kill ya.”
“No, but your arrogant, self-absorbed attitude just might,” I throw at him, holding back a smirk.
“Well, I think that’s debatable. Most of the women I date think it’s charming.”
A loud snort bursts out of me, and I’m unable to keep in the laughter this time. “I think that says more about who you’re dating than anything. They must be desperate.”
“Damn, what a burn.” He chuckles. “Adding hostile to your personality resume.”
I inhale a deep breath, realizing that was a really mean thing to say. “Okay, sorry. That wasn’t nice. But I’m not taking back what I said about you. You’re arrogant and there’s no denying that”
“Oh well then thanks, I guess.” He smirks. “You say it like being arrogant is a bad thing though. In my profession, I kinda have to be. I’m constantly selling myself to photographers and showing them I’m worthy of being in their magazines and advertisements. If I don’t act confident and prove I’m the best guy for the gig, I’ll lose it to the thousands of other people pursuing the job.”
I think about his words for a minute. “Okay, well I can certainly understand that. But I think you’re just naturally that way.” I shrug, biting down on my lower lip so he doesn’t see right through me. He has every right to be confident, there’s no doubt about that. He’s got it all—the body, the face, the perfect white teeth and smile. His abs are plastered all over Rachel’s covers and book promo graphics. He even has that annoying muscular V that trails from his hips to down below his waistline. Annoyingly sexy. “However, that doesn’t mean you can’t be humble in other aspects of your life.”
“That’s a pretty big accustation for someone you just met. How do you know I’m not? You haven’t been around me long enough to know anything about me. Don’t you think?”
Damn. He’s right. “Fine. Prove me wrong then.”

Never trust a man who answers the door wearing nothing more than a pair of low-cut jeans and a panty-melting smirk. That should've been my first sign. I write about guys like him for a living--sexy and charming, yet reluctant to get into a serious relationship. His body screams sex appeal, but his condescending personality makes him a classic f*ckboy. And I want nothing to do with that. Writing romance novels comes with its perks—traveling, meeting new people, creating characters from the voices in my head—but Ethan Rochester enters my life and rearranges my preconceived notions about writing what inspires you. Meeting him was fate, but falling for him was inevitable. And forgetting him will be impossible.

✯Cover & Excerpt Reveal w/Giveaway✯Where Bad Boys Are Ruined(The Good Girls Series #3) by Holly Renee

Release Date: December 5, 2018
Cover Design: Artist Regina Wamba

Synopsis

I ate leftover cupcakes and cracked macarons for breakfast.
I was ninety percent sure he simply ate up girls like me.  I was covered in paint splatters, cake batter, and sweat the first time I met him.  He was covered in badass tattoos and a smile that seemed to hold a secret I would never figure out.  Rule number 1 was never, under any circumstances, fall for the man who I wrote my lease check to.  So, I tucked him away in the “Fantasize Only” compartment of my brain and called it a day.  But he didn’t make it easy.  He was arrogant, funny, and the biggest flirt I had ever met.  Most of the time, I didn’t know if I was just a game to him.  If I didn’t know better, I’d say he was on a mission to ruin my life.  And maybe my heart, too.

“How do you know this guy you are going on a date with tonight?” She had her curly red hair piled on top of her head in a bun that matched mine, and if it weren’t for the small laugh lines around her mouth, she would look like my twin.
“I don’t know him at all.” I picked up another box and set it on the counter.
“The two girls I was telling you about that work next door set me up.” I groaned, and I didn’t miss her smile.
“It’s good for you. You need to get out and date and...”
“Do not say it.” I cut her off.
“Have me some little red-headed grandbabies.” She put her hand over her heart and swooned.
“You are ridiculous.” I rolled my eyes at her but couldn’t help smiling at her theatrics.
My mom was the best mom ever. Not just because she made sure I never wanted for anything and disciplined me in a way that made sure I didn’t turn into a spoiled brat, but she was also the best friend I had ever had.
“First of all, we’re going on a group date.”
She raised her eyebrows in shock, and I laughed.
“The guy just knows that there is someone they want him to meet. There is absolutely no pressure on either of us. He doesn’t have to nine-one-one call a friend or anything to get out of it.”
“And you call me ridiculous.” She turned fully toward me and put her hands on her hip. “If a man didn’t want to date you, he’s an idiot.”
“You have to say that. Mom guilt.”
“Not true.” She picked up another box and started going through it. “I’d tell you if you weren’t datable. First of all, you’re gorgeous. Thank God for your mama.” She winked at me, and I let out a small laugh. “Second, you’re smart and have a great sense of humor. I’ll give a bit of credit to your daddy for that.”
“So, because I’m like the two of you, I’m perfect?” I asked sarcastically, but she didn’t care.
“Exactly. I didn’t just get with your dad because he’s so hot.” She wagged her eyebrows, and I tried to swallow down my nausea.
“Really, mom?”
“Knock, knock.”
I swung toward the door that separated the kitchen from the front of the bakery as soon as Brandon’s voice sounded through the space then I pointed to my mom.
“Stay here.” I sounded panicked. “Do not come out.”
My mom’s eyebrows shot up, but I did not give her a chance to ask questions.
I quickly walked through the door and made sure to force it closed behind me. There was no way in hell I was letting my mother come out and embarrass me in front of Brandon.
“Hey.” I pushed my stray curls out of my face. “What are you doing here?”
He leaned down and rested his elbows against the counter.
“I just wanted to stop in and see how everything is going.”
“It’s going.”
The door behind me moved just the tiniest bit, and I knew that my mom currently had her ear pressed against it.
“The place is looking great.” He didn’t take his eyes off me as he spoke. “It looks nothing like it did before you moved in.”
“Thank you. I’ve been envisioning what this place would look like for a long time now, so I had some ideas.” I laughed.
I didn’t know why I felt so nervous to talk to him about the bakery, but in all fairness, I felt nervous to talk to him at all.
The door behind me moved again. This time too hard for me to play it off as a mouse or a rouge cupcake that may have fell off the counter.  I closed my eyes and sent up a silent prayer as my mom walked out.
“Hi there.” My mom waved to Brandon as she made her way toward him. “You must be David.” She stuck her hand out toward him, and I fought the urge to jump between them and shew my mother back into the kitchen.
He slid his tattooed hand into my mother’s and looked over at me with mischief in his eyes. “David?”
“Mom, this is Brandon.” I quickly avoided his question. “He owns this place.”
“Oh.” My mom giggled like ‘Oh, how silly of me to assume this hot as hell man was the guy my daughter was going on a date/non-date with tonight.’ “Well aren’t you handsome.”
“Thank you.” He grinned up at her, and I could have sworn I saw my mom swoon. “That means a lot coming from a beautiful woman like yourself.”
My mom swatted at his hand, and I inwardly groaned. The man I had been fantasizing about since the moment I met him just complemented my mom, and I was just a teeny tiny bit jealous. Or a lot. Whatever.
“Are you single, Brandon?”
“Mom don’t be rude. That’s none of your business.”
“It’s okay.” Brandon stood up to his full height. “I am.”
“That’s shocking.” She started to take him in again, and I tried to distract Brandon away from her before she could embarrass me more.
“Are y’all having a busy day at the shop today?”
Brandon’s laughing gaze slid back to me. “Yea. It’s always busy over there.”
“Good. You can send them over here to satisfy their sweet tooth once Charlie gets this place open.”
Brandon’s gaze ran over me, and I fiddled with a stray string on my jeans to stop myself from squirming under his gaze. “Absolutely.”
“Are you going on the group date tonight?” My mom turned and picked up a box out of the floor like she didn’t just make me sound like the biggest loser ever.
“What?” He looked genuinely confused before his eyes lit up. “Oh shit. That David? That’s why we’re all going out tonight?” He looked down at his hands and frowned.
“It wasn’t my idea.” I quickly answered him. “I don’t even know him. Livy and Staci thought it would be a good idea if everyone went so there wasn’t so much pressure. It’s not even a date. Everyone is just hanging out.”
I. Was. Such. A. Loser.
He looked back up at me as if he was looking for something. “I’ll be there tonight.”
“Cool.” I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and tried to avoid looking at my mom who was grinning from ear to ear.
“Well, it was nice to meet you,” Brandon said to my mother. “I better head back to work so I have plenty of time to get ready for our group date tonight.” He winked at me, and I wanted to die.
“You too.” My mom grinned at him. “Hopefully, I’ll be seeing more of you around.”
Brandon chuckled then made his way to the door. “See you later, Freckles.”
“Bye,” I barely managed to squeak out before I turned my death glare to my mother.
“Forget David.” She fanned herself. “I would be trying to date that one.”
“Mom,” I said frustrated, but I couldn’t admit that she was wrong.
She opened the door to head back into the kitchen. “What? I always did have a thing for bad boys. You should have seen your dad back in the day.”

I don’t know how long we’re in the alley kissing, but finally he releases me. We’re both breathless. My lips feel swollen and bruised. I don’t mind one bit. “Do you have to go home yet?” he asks, his voice low and husky. His eyes fall to my lips and he rubs his thumb against them. They’re tender, but I don’t mind his touch. I shake my head. He cracks a small smile. “Come to the hotel with me.” “But the guys…” I hesitate. “They already know about you. The nosy bastards figured it out without me saying a word.” I can tell he’s irritated by this fact, but they’re also his best friends so he can laugh about it. “I don’t know…” “We can watch a movie or something. Nothing more,” he explains, seeing where my mind is going. “We can order a pizza too—or whatever you want from room service.” I think a moment longer before nodding. I’m not ready to go home yet. Spending more time with Hollis sounds nice. As much as I love kissing him, I enjoy hanging out with him even more, which shocks me. I never expected to like him. From the moment he walked out of my bathroom in nothing but a towel I’d made up my mind to hate him. But hating Hollis is impossible. We walk back to the hotel, too worried to hold hands, but close enough our fingers graze often. Some people, mostly college girls, eye him up and down. He’s hot, so it’s expected, but word has also gotten around about the new band in town recording their album. While most people in this town are over it and don’t care, The Wild is like a new shiny toy to be played with and admired. I don’t know how famous people do it—enjoy being gawked at like a specimen under a microscope. Heck, even I’ve been gawked at and had paparazzi follow me even though I’m literally the most boring person on the planet. I don’t understand the obsession people have with celebrities, wanting to know every single detail about their lives, where they go, who their friends are, what they eat—give them a break and room to breathe. I saw a pap follow my dad into a public restroom once—he stormed out a second later and gave management a mouthful. Hollis and I reach the hotel and ride up in the elevator together careful to stand apart and not say a word. When he opens the door to their suite my mouth falls open. “Whoa, this place is cool.” Fox’s head whips over in our direction from the couch when he hears my voice. “Yo, Mia, what are you doing here?” “Hollis invited me for pizza and a movie.” “Sweet—as long as it’s not a chick flick.” I fake a yawn. “Pass.” “Can I keep you?” Fox jokes making a kissy face at me. Rush strides out of a room then in only a towel. As he passes Fox he whips it off and smacks him with it. Hollis slaps his hands over my eyes, but it’s too late, I already got an eyeful. “Pretty sure she’s already taken dude.” “Rush,” Hollis hisses, “cover up, man.” “What? Afraid she’ll see what I’m packing and come running?” “It was impressive,” I admit with a laugh. Hollis growls and mutters, “Don’t make me remind you what’s really impressive.” I give him a sly smile as he lowers his hands. “I don’t know, sounds enjoyable.” His eyes darken with desire. “Not here,” Cannon warns coming into the room. “Yeah, down boy,” I tell Hollis. “I’m here for pizza and a movie. If you don’t feed me I might bite.” He lowers his head and whispers in my ear, “I wouldn’t mind.” I can’t help but smile. Patting him on the chest, I say, “Now go order my pizza, peasant.” All three of the other guys bust out laughing. “Peasant? More like he’s your bitch,” Fox chortles. Hollis shakes his head, but his lips quirk in amusement. “What kind of pizza do you want?” “Pepperoni.” “A pepperoni pizza for milady coming right up,” he says bowing theatrically before slipping away. I sit down on the couch beside Fox and swipe the remote from him. “No chick flicks,” Rush warns coming out of his room to join us. At least he’s wearing pants now. “What is it with you guys and chick flicks?” I mutter. “Afraid a little kissing and romance will make your dick shrivel up and die?” “They’re boring,” Rush defends. “Mhmm,” I hum. “Keep telling yourself that.” “Don’t listen to him,” Cannon speaks up. “He’s bitching because he cried at Titanic.” “It was one tear,” Rush defends in mock anger. “And Jack shouldn’t have died. He was the best character in the whole damn movie.” Cannon smirks at him as Rush sits on my other side. I log into my Netflix account. “We’re going to watch my favorite movie of all time,” I warn them. “If Reese Witherspoon is in it giving legal advice I’m out,” Rush warns, raising his hands. I snort. “Nope.” I click the movie and the guys all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Pussies. “Jurassic Park is your favorite movie?” Fox asks, sounding surprised. “Dinosaurs and Jeff Goldblum … um yeah, it’s my favorite movie.” “You have a crush on Jeff Goldblum?” Rush asks with amusement. “Duh, have you seen him? Or listened to him speak? He could read me the dictionary and I’d happily sit there and listen.” Rush chuckles. “How does Hollis feel about that?” “How do I feel about what?” Hollis asks, stepping back into the room. He gets a disgruntled look when he sees Fox and Rush beside me, but then shakes his head as a determined smile takes over his face. He strides over to me and I squeal as he picks me up and sits down with me in his lap. “Mia, here, has a crush on Jeff Goldblum,” Fox explains. “Really?” he asks, eyeing me with surprise. “Why is this shocking?” “I don’t know,” Hollis admits. “I guess it’s unexpected is all.” “Can we watch the movie now?” I ask. “Wait, we need popcorn,” Cannon says in his gruff voice, hopping up. I don’t know why but I’m still always surprised when he opens his mouth. He’s broody and quiet all the time. When he shows any bit of enthusiasm for something it takes me by surprise. As the movie begins Cannon pops popcorn in the suite’s kitchen making the room smell like buttery goodness and causing my mouth to water. “I can’t believe you guys have popcorn here,” I mutter to Hollis. He chuckles, the sound rumbling against my back as he holds me tight. “Only because Cannon is a mother hen and went to the grocery store the day after we got here to make sure we had everything we needed.” “Better to be a mother hen than to starve,” Cannon defends from the kitchen. “Shh, I want to watch the movie.” Hollis pinches my side and whispers in my ear, “You started it.”

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.
