The first sexy, captivating, stand-alone novel in the brand-new FIGHT FOR ME series from NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson . . .
Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.
The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he’ll let into his heart is his little girl.
Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.
She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was seventeen. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.
When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he’s in trouble.
She’s gorgeous and sweet and everything he can’t trust.
Until she becomes the one thing he can’t resist.
One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.
But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.
Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance . . .
I legit LOVED Al Jackson's Bleeding Stars series. I didn't know how I was going to feel going into this brand new story and beginning of her brand new series. But, Rex Gunner is unlike any guy I've ever read. I was hooked from page one until the last.
Rynna left her hometown right before graduation and vowed to never return. Years later she is packed up and driving back. Rynna's kicking herself bc she's comeback too late. Her grandma has passed away and left Rynna her restaurant Pepper's Pies. Rynna is hoping and praying the reasons why she ran all those years ago aren't still there.
Rex is a hard man. His outer core is made of steel. The only person that owns his heart and makes him genuinely smile is his 4yr old daughter Frankie Leigh. When her mother walked out on them 3yrs before that out of the blue without a word Rex blamed himself. But, when Rynna moves in across the street something happens to him.
No matter how mean Rex is to Rynna she still continues to shock him. Rex isn't the only one scarred from his past. Rynna's past haunts her. Luckily she's always had her grandma's words and is still finding them everyday somewhere in her house. These two have the potential of saving each other. They just have to be open to letting the other one into their hearts, head and lives.
This book was beautifully written. From beginning to end. I ESP loved how Rynna's childhood was written into the story. Both her grandmother and Frankie Leigh were prob my favorite aside from Rex and Rynna. There was one person I loathed and thats being nice. But, karma well karma's karma lol.
I'm looking forward to the next 2 books. I think Ollie's story will make me cry. Man, the next book can't come fast enough!!
