Together they investigate her mother’s old friends and boyfriends, hoping to discover who Kara really is. Instead, they find disturbing connections to the dark history of Kent State University, and an ever expanding maze of mystery surrounding Kara’s birth.

As Kara and Derek chase secrets, she realizes he’s the only person she can trust. But as they get closer to the truth, the disturbing answers reveal a web of evil far darker and further reaching then they’d imagined, leaving Kara to wish she’d never asked the questions in the first place, and to wonder if some secrets are better left untold…

                            ✯✯4 Colliding Stars!!✯✯

This is a really hard book for me to review. While I really liked this book. I can honestly see myself sitting on the couch watching this as a Lifetime movie. Yet, there was a lot of stuff that drove me up a wall! This was Kate Mary's debut book and she did a great job.

Kara is on her way home from college in a snowstorm & crashes her car. They need the jaws of life to get her out of the car. Kara honestly didn't think her life could get worse. That was until she was at the hospital. The nurse is filling her & her parents in on what she hurt & how they are treating her. She mentions a blood transfusion. Her parents offer to help. That's when her world is just turned upside down.

After spending a few days in the hospital she goes home to find her dad sitting on the snowy front steps. They get inside & her world just crumbles into  a million pieces. Kara is told her dad is not her "dad" & he needs to be away from her mother. Now, Kara wants answers and the one person who can answer them, her mom. Refuses to answer them. I mean she let's Kara know it's better that you know nothing excerpt your dad. The man that's been raising you, he is your father. And, that's that, end of discussion!!

Kara gets pissed & rightfully so. Being that Kara's cellphone got damaged in the accident. She has no one's phone #s written down anywhere. She bundles up and walks out. Kara ended up at the bar not that far away from her house. She's frozen and needs to   warm up. Then, shes the bartender and he knows exactly who she is. They went to high school together. Derek Miller. And, man did he look nothing like he did when they were in school together. He lost his whole family in a tragedy when they were still in school.

Kara & Derek get very, very close very fast!  Kara & Derek start spending every minute of the day & night together. Kara sets her mind to finding out who her "real daddy" is. Kara realizes it has to be someone her parents went to college with. When she went home one afternoon when her mom wasn't home. Kara went snooping through her mom's stuff. Found some names but  not much of anything else. Nothing. She had nothing.

Derek has some friends that go to the college her parents went too. They decide to go on a road trip.  After a lot of research on Kara and Derek's part, they have a list of people's names & telephone numbers. Kara begs her mother 1 last time to tell her. She begs Kara to leave it alone. You don't want to know.

Lets just say it was a lot of work. A bunch of dead ends. But, Kara gets what she wanted. And, if I was her I'd be kicking my own ass!!

This was definitely a fast paced book. I read it pretty quick considering how long it was. Now, Derek & Kara got on my nerves so much. Kara literally acted like a spoiled brat the whole book! She's pissed at her mom. I get it 100%. But, she runs into Derek a guy she went to high school with. Yet, she can not remember him at all. Next thing she's practically living with him. Derek loves having her around. He's driving her everywhere, paying for everything, giving her his extra car to drive. What!!!

For 2 people who never spoke a word in high school. Then, running into each other. To all "I love you". Ugh. Made me want to vomit. Both Derek & Kara were running away from their problems. Derek was trying to be someone else.  Kara wanted to find out where she really came from. I felt like they were unintentionally using each other.

Granted they were cute together. Kept their minds of what was really going on. I really loved Derek's friends. They were hysterical! The author did leave it open for book 2. Which  my fingers are crossed because I really need to know whats going to happen now that the bomb has been set. I need to know what happens after it went off!!

Kate L. Mary is a stay-at-home mother of four and an Air Force wife. She spent most of her life in a small town just north of Dayton, Ohio where she and her husband met at the age of twelve. Since their marriage in 2002, they have lived in Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and California.

Kate’s love of books and writing has helped her survive countless husbandless nights. She enjoys any post-apocalyptic story – especially if zombies are involved – as long as there is a romantic twist to give the story hope. Kate prefers nerdy, non-traditional heroes who can make you laugh to hunky pieces of man-meat, and her love of wine and chocolate is legendary among her friends and family. She currently resides in Oklahoma with her husband and children.

1. I’ve been married for 12 years.

2. I met my husband in my church youth group when we were 12 years old, but we didn’t start dating until nine years later.

3. I’m a stay-at-home mom of four kids, two boys and two girls.

4. My boys are Carter and Chase, and the names were inspired by doctors from television shows we liked at the time. Carter from ER and Chase from House. Girls are Christa and Corinne, and those names came from people we knew.

5. I can probably quote most episodes of Friends by heart, and my husband and I are a lot like Chandler and Monica. I’m an obsessive-compulsive neat freak, and he can never be serious. Plus, we were friends for years before we started dating.

6. My husband is a C-17 pilot in the Air Force.

7. Since we’ve been married, we’ve lived in 6 states (Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, California and Oklahoma) and moved 7 times.

8. My all-time favorite move is Aliens. I love it so much that sometimes I just put it on for background noise when I write.

9. I love The Walking Dead. LOVE IT. I even have some of the graphic novels and a few Daryl Dixon shirts. When it’s on things get serious in my house. We are not allowed to talk during the show and I do not answer texts, emails or calls.

10. I’m a huge nerd and I love that about myself.

11. When I was in high school I read classic novels almost exclusively. Jane Austen’s books are some of my favorites, but I also love Gone with the Wind.

12. I set my stories in cities I’ve actually lived in or visited, and love having my characters visit real places. Collision is set in the Dayton, Ohio area, where I grew up, and my characters go to a pizza place that is a popular Dayton chain. (And the pizza is amazing.)

13. I’m a wino. Okay, not really a wino, but I love red wine.

14. And chocolate…

15. And coffee.

16. I think every book should have a little bit of romance in it, but I have a hard time reading a romance novel. I always want more plot than that, and I’m particularly into dystopian or post-apocalyptic stories.

17. My favorite city is Charleston, SC. We were stationed there for almost four years and I had the best friends imaginable.

18. I wrote a zombie series with an awesome female main character that will be available from Etopia Press this year!

19. I have a huge girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence. I’m pretty sure I’d leave my husband for her if she asked…

20. My husband is my best friend and I have more fun with him than I’ve ever had with another person.

Synopsis:

                                         ✯✯5 Breathtaking Stars!!!✯✯

Even as damaged as I knew he was, this gorgeous man was my perfection. -Aly

There should be some requirements for all of A.L. Jackson's books. You first need to block a whole day. Because, you won't be able to put it down. Then, you need a fresh unopened box of tissues. You will definitely need them!! Find a comfy spot & hold on. You will be getting the ride of your life!

Come To Me Softly picks up right where Come To Me Quietly left off. Jared has come back to Aly. He knows he can not survive without her. Aly is his home. His life. His breath. His heart. Without her he can't survive. Aly is his EVERYTHING!!! But, he wasn't expecting the bomb that Aly dropped on him. Jared was going to be a daddy in 6 months.

"You are my life.... my future."

Aly can finally breathe. Jared came home to her. She can stop worrying that he out there hurting himself. Or worse. She wouldn't think about that now. They are having a baby. Now, they weren't going to have a secret relationship behind the safety of her bedroom door. Aly knows that now is when it's going to get difficult. She's pregnant, worried how her family is going to deal with her & Jared being together... With a baby on the way. Deep down Aly knows Jared has major demons to deal with. In order for them to move on completely, and for Jared to heal he MUST face his past heads on.

"I believe in you, Jared. I always have."

Aly's brother Christopher is conflicted with Jared being back. Last time him & his best friend saw each other it ended in one big bloody mess. And, his sister spent the last 3 months miserable. He makes a point to let Jared know if he's back he better be back for good. To step up & be a good man that his sister deserves. Then, they go back to best friends. I'm not kidding when I tell you every time Jared & Christopher were together I found myself sitting there by myself smiling & laughing hysterically!! I am super, super glad Christopher is getting his own book next. Because, he has a story that NEEDS to be told!!

Aly, Christopher & Jared go to Aly & Christopher's parents house for Thanksgiving. It's extremely hard for Jared. Going back there means Jared will be across the street from his childhood home. The one filled with memories of his family. His mother. It's all really too much for him to handle. But, for Aly he'll do ANYTHING!

"She changed me. And if you spent so much time with her over the last few months, then I know you know Aly and I are supposed to be together. None of this other shit matters. None of it. Nothing except for her and the baby."

Jared gets a warm welcome from Aly's mom. Her dad, not at all!! After awhile Aly's dad blows up. I mean looses his cool. He can not believe Jared is back. Everyone is acting like the past didn't happen. If that wasn't enough for him. He learns about Aly & Jared being together. Oh yea, and their having a baby. After letting Jared know he's not good enough for his daughter Jared leaves. Aly lets her father know you either accept it or loose me.

I love how Aly stood up for what she believes in. Aly believes in Jared. She knows he is  a good hearted person. She knows the pain he's feeling and all the grieve he doesn't deserve. Aly hopes Jared can figure it out too.

"I won't believe anything but the fact that you're supposed to be here, with me. Whatever we have to go through, whatever we have to face, I've never believed anything so strongly."

Jared does EVERYTHING possible to prove to Aly & everyone else that he IS good for Aly. He buys a house. Or more like a complete 100% fixer upper. He does it! Jared gives Aly the perfect house. The perfect life. Too bad deep down Jared doesn't believe he deserves it.

Aly is his reason for breathing. Everything he does is for her & their baby. They seriously have the perfect little life. Jared needs to feel Aly every chance he can get. I don't know she was able to walk half the time! Hahaha.. I mean she is one lucky chick. Damn!!!

"Jared, you don't... You have no idea what you do to me. How badly I want you....every day."

But, the closer to Jared's birthday the more his demons haunted him. He can not handle all the emotions that go through his head & heart. He knows he should be walking on cloud 9. Yet, there are thing's in his past that won't allow that.

Aly can see, sense & feel the change in Jared. She loves him so much. Jared is the ONLY guy she has ever loved in her entire life. Aly needs Jared. All of him. She knows what will heal him. Aly also knows Jared has to want it. But, getting him to except it & not leaving her again is another story!

"You did this, Aly. You made me feel...really feel. None of them did that. Not one."

When everything comes to a head Aly  makes the hardest decision in her life. It's not a easy one. But, it's one that in the end will save her little family of her, Jared & their unborn child. Aly also knows it will heal Jared. Give him some sort of closure and hopefully he will see that everything he has he deserves. That he can stop running, give his heart some relief. And, most of all Jared can be free.

I absolutely loved this book. We got to see more flashbacks from little Jared & little Aly. Got to see Jared's life before he started running and not looking back. It was written beautifully. In this book we really got a good look at who Jared was. And, how & why he was the way he is now. My heart broke for Jared so many times or him I can't count!

"I've always been your girl. You just didn't know it."

As for Aly. Where do I start? In a lot of books the females annoy me to no end. Not Aly!! I LOVE her. Aly is such a strong woman. She fights for what & who she believes in,. Family to her is the most important thing. I love her & Christopher's relationship. One minute they're telling each other where to go. The next they are calling each other because they missed the other one. The way she gave herself to  Jared anyway he needed it. Aly fought for him when he didn't think he deserved it.

"Those ghosts live right here. Haunting you... every move you make. And those ghosts are going to ruin us if you don't turn around and acknowledge they're there.''

AL Jackson made you connect with everybody in this book. There was so many good times. And, other times that weren't so good. Jared & Christopher no matter what the situation was, they always had each others back. Then, laughed about it afterwards. You really need to read Jared & Aly's story. You won't be disappointed. I'm sad that their story is ending. But, excited to read Christopher's.

I'd been running so long, it was the only thing I knew how to do.
My chest jerked as I sucked in a breath. -Jared

  excerpt
Tethur didn’t look like a bear now, although his eyes had that deep glowing hue to them. The heat of rage radiated off him. “Do you have any fucking idea what I thought when I went to our room and saw not only the lock shattered, but you missing?” he snarled at her. His voice and aggression was so fierce his hot breath fluttered her hair around her face. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she stormed around him. “You can’t just lock me up like a doll, Tethur. You spent my whole life caging me, I realized today. No more. I have powers, I’m strong. I can do stuff on my own, you know,” she fired back. “I can lock you anywhere I wish. That is my right as your guardian and mate,” he roared. His huge arm locked around her upper arms and she was spun around. A squeal leaked from her lips as she was pinned against the wall. She heard the ice splinter. A sharp whistle sounded, and she looked over at Cassandra just before Tethur’s large bicep blocked her path. He caged her in with both his huge, bulging arms. Arousal consumed her. Hmm, who would have thought? Sorscha’s chest rose and fell, her heartbeat kicked up a notch and she met his fierce, predatory gaze with her own look of defiance. “Dear Goddess, thank you for gifting me with a horny elf and not a bear.” Cassandra tossed the couple a wink and disappeared back outside. “No, wait…” Sorscha protested. The deep rumble that came from Tethur’s chest drew her gaze back to him. “You’re being unreasonable,” she whispered. Tethur leaned in closer. His nose brushed against hers. The hair that covered his cheek and jaw brushed over the tender flesh of her cheek, and she shivered. “Unreasonable? So that is what you call keeping you alive?” he rumbled. “I call caging me unreasonable,” she whispered. Turning her head to the side, feeling the hot breath spilling over her cheek, she squealed and ducked out from under him. Trying to run, she heard the roar and the sound of rending fabric, and froze. He had shifted. Sorscha’s eyelids fluttered shut and she braced for impact. Tethur was shockingly gentle with how, as a bear, he threw her over his shoulder and moved up the stairs with the grace of any animal in the wild. He dropped her to her feet at the foot of the bed. Before her eyes he shifted. His fur slid back into his skin, his muzzle melted into the handsome man she had known her whole life. Those glowing eyes gazed at her as if she were a feast laid out just for him. But it wasn’t just his face, oh no, she could see him all, including the huge club he called a cock standing proud and reaching to his belly button. Her mouth went dry and she fought to drag her eyes back up to his. They were both breathing hard. They looked at one another, and Tethur’s steps ate up the space between them. “Strip,” he growled. She could feel her eyes go wide. Her words gone, lost, as he looked down at her, his gaze burning through her clothes. She took a step back and he matched it, keeping his bare chest pressed against her. “No!” she said with much more fire than she felt. “Yes, but you will,” he rumbled back at her. The confidence in his voice shattered her independence. She would not give into him, she couldn’t. Tethur would understand that she was equal to him. “Little bird,” he warned. “If you don’t do it, then I will, and I’m not in control.” Sorscha shook her head, attempting to clear her thoughts. It was hard when every nerve ending responded to him. His voice, his scent, his breath, dear God, she was drawn to him like a moth to a flame and her body fucking burned for him. Moving back, feeling as if he had left her with no escape, her next words were stuttered out again. “Look, just because I was swoony over you in high school doesn’t mean I will let you, just, well…” she paused. Should I say fuck me? Because I kind of want him to fuck me. “So you call smelling like heaven and honey twenty-four seven, and pushing every button I have day and night…swoony?” he growled. She gulped as he prowled closer and she retreated. The chase, small as it was, excited her. Feeling her body get warm as sweat beaded onto her flesh, the cool air brushed against her and she realized they were outside, on the balcony. Trapped like a…bird.
