**Review** It Starts With L by Cassandra Fear

High school is tough, and Arielle knows this all too well.

She’s slightly chubbier than most of the other girls and gets reminded of this every day. And the fact that she’s never had a boyfriend makes her prime meat for the bullying crowd.

But then in walks Blake, the cute new boy who sweeps her off her feet and stands up to her bullies. Instant swoon.

Now with a guy at her side, and the promise of a blooming love, Arielle realizes it’s easy to lose sight of what is important. Her best friend, Jess, is on a downward spiral toward disaster, and Arielle needs to find a way to help her.

Unfortunately, Arielle discovers not everything in life is simple. Sometimes things happen, tragedy strikes, and it leaves you with wounds that might never heal.

5 STARS!!!
It Starts With L was a great YA story. The way the characters spoke and acted really made you feel as if you were inside the head of a teenage girl, which I have found some other books in this genre to lack. The story moved at a quick pace, and kept me wanting to turn the page to see what would happen next.

When Arielle and Blake first met, it was lust at first sight. Their relationship formed and moved very quickly, and Arielle's emotions were all over the place. It reminded me of what it was like to be a teenager with your first crush/love all over again. As we get older, we tend to forget many things about our younger years, and it was refreshing to read a story that pulled you back to those days and make you feel the excitement, and fear, all those emotions brought. I could relate to Arielle's story on so many levels. I absolutely LOVED Arielle and Blake together. The chemistry was incredible.

So many times my heart ached for Arielle. It was like she couldn't catch a break. The story really put my emotions through the ringer at times, and a few of those times I contemplated tossing my kindle across the room because I was so angry with what was happening. There were parts that I never expected, and they completely shocked me when they did. Especially that ending!!!

This was the first story I read by Cassandra Fear, and I cannot wait to read her others!

Bad Boy Ballers series finale! Includes an epic novella length epilogue for Rafe and Peyton, Brooklyn and Delaney, and Calder and Reggie!
The dark horse of the NFL. A superstar showgirl on the Vegas strip. Their desire is taboo in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.
Calder Malone. Black sheep. Bad boy. Kicked off the Reno Ravens and almost suspended from the NFL. The sexy center remains a fan favorite now that he’s playing for Carolina Crush. And what Calder wants more than anything is to prove his worth to the team that’s his last chance, the family he disgraced, and the one woman he fell in love with years ago.
Unfortunately the comeback kid isn’t a boy anymore, and the babe he wants was never his for the taking—for reasons that make him question his sanity.
Reggie isn’t just a Vegas showgirl, a pretty face. She’s an Air Force widow, a strong woman who’s piecing her life back together . . . And maybe the man she always thought was out of her league and completely off-limits just became fair game.
Off the field and offstage, what happens when Calder and Reggie don't stay in Vegas?

✯5 Beautiful Stars!!!

Rie Warren has done it to me again! I've been a fan of hers for awhile now. I loved the first 2 books of this series. This is the third and final of the series and for me Rie saved the best for last!

Calder Malone was in love once. But, then his brother married her. Calder was at the top of his game and then his brother passed away in the service. Calder spiraled out of control. Drugs, alcohol and women were what he used as a distraction. Until he almost lost his football career. Now, he's on a new team and trying to redemption for his actions. He's cut off ties with his family and with her. Until he's forced to come face to face with her. All his feelings for her are still there and no matter what he wants he's still loyal to his brother.

Reggie has always had feelings for Calder. She loved her husband too. But, with him being overseas their relationship and marriage was strained, close to being over. When he passed away she moved to Las Vegas for her dancing. No matter how many times Calder ignored her and tried pushing her away she'll never give up. Reggie finally decides she's going to take matters and Calder into the palm of her hand. She knows showing up on his front door and putting everything out front and center will make Calder see whats in front of him. And, its her.

Wow! All the previous characters from the other books are here and still very much of the story. What was so good about this book/series is you see the Carolina Crush go from the bottom to the top. From the beginning they've wanted that super ball ring. Rie did this entire series beautifully with its timeline.

Out of all the characters in this series, Calder got into my skin and heart the deepest. Reading his brothers emails had me crying and I was glad I was outside alone reading when that happened. Calder wanted redemption. From family, friends and just everyone he'd let down. He also wanted what his teammates and friends Rafe and Brooklyn had found. Love and the start of their own family. As far as I'm concerned Calder got everything he'd wanted, needed and more. Rie Warren has another book of my list of favorite read book. I'm sad to see the guys and their ladies from the Carolina Crush football team.

I was in a bastard of a mood when the doorbell rang after I’d dropped the two hundred-pound weight onto the rest. My chest burning, my ribs wracked with agony, I curled up to my feet. Thought about a shirt. Thought, fuck it. It was probably just Brooks.
He’d become my watchdog, checking in regularly, inviting me to his place for dinner with him and Delaney, keeping the door open in case I needed to talk to someone other than my sponsor.
Striding through the house, I absentmindedly swiped at the sweat on my chest with the towel I held.
I opened the door.
Wished I hadn’t.
My cock went fully hard in an instant.
I draped the towel in front of me, one hand notched on the doorframe, my chest bare, Reggie’s chin barely reaching my shoulders.
Reggie. On my doorstep. Showing up out of the clear blue.
My lips flattened as my heartbeat thudded in my chest.
Everything that had broken open in that alley with Brooklyn I’d sealed back under. Until this precise moment when Reggie lifted a bag in her hand and a smile on her lips when I was pretty sure I’d never looked more threatening.
“I’ve got some time off. Recuperation.” She angled a leg in tight faded jeans toward me. “Sore tendon. Figured you’d know how to put me back together right as rain with your PT background.”
“Funny.” Hooking the end of the towel into the waistband of my shorts, I rasped my hands across the dark shade of stubble on my jaw, and she watched every goddamn stroke. “You don’t look injured.”
“You do.” Her gaze—challenging—dropped to the bruise on my ribs.
“You came to check up on me.”
“So what if I did?” She shrugged one shoulder.
“You don’t have to worry about me anymore.”
“I can’t just turn it off, Calder.”
“I don’t need or want your help.” I tried to maintain the barrier, nearly snarling at her.
She merely cast her eyes beyond me. “Are you going to invite me inside like an old friend should?”
Old friend. Old pain.
I stepped back. Barely.
She ducked under my arm. Smiling.
Closing the door, I sealed my body against it. “What are you really doing here?”
“Well, you said you’d accept my calls.” She dropped her bags. Stood with hands on hips. “You lied to me.”
“It’s what I do, sweetheart.” Determined to piss her off so she’d leave because danger lurked in the dark spaces of my mind.
I’d forgotten she reacted like a lioness when cornered.
Rookie mistake.
In two steps, Reggie was up against me, in my face.
Protect and dominate. The two different impulses swarmed through me.
I wanted to serve her up on a silver platter and plant my face between her thighs.
Then tuck her against me in my bed, blankets all around, my arms a cradle.
Her eyes hooked mine with nothing but unwavering intensity. “You have driven everyone away, Calder.” Her stance blended her against me, and she had to feel the heat—the need and arousal—she spiked in my body.
“I will not fucking let you go down one more time.” Bleak, no longer dreamy eyes, rose to mine. “I’m not losing you to self-pity or self-loathing or any other kind of hate you keep wrapping around yourself.”
Looked like I’d met my match.
I’d known it all along.
“One man is enough to lose.” Her voice dropped, but her finger pointed at my chest before she spread her fingers over my careening heart. “And you have a choice in the matter.”
At her unerring words, I went stock-still.

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me. Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience. “You’re pregnant.” “It’s a boy.” “Your son needs a heart transplant.” Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me. Lies. Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun. Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky. “He’s gone.” For ten years, the darkness consumed me. In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise. “Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

✯5 Dark Stormy Stars!

Aly Martinez is a genius. Every book of hers that I read stay with me. She has such a beautiful way of writing and The Darkest Sunrise is no exception.

When Charlotte Mills is in medical school she ends up pregnant. She was a complete shock. But, the minute her son is put in her arms she knows she was suppose to be his mother. Her son was born with a bad heart and would one day need a new one. But, that doesn't stop her from one day hoping her son will have the life he deserves.

One day while out for a walk there's another mother in need of help. When Charlotte is done her life is turned upside down. Her son is missing. He was never found. Not a word was heard.

In order for Charlotte to grieve for her son she dives back into school. Ten years later she has become one of the top Pulmonologists in the country. She'll do anything to save her patients.

Charlotte's not living. She's haunted by loosing her son. Charlotte will never give up hope that he'll be returned to her one day. Either alive or not. She just wants him back. Charlotte will never forgive herself. She refuses to take on child patients. She can't be around them. Not ever when Porter Reese comes into her life. For the first time in her life she is looking not the eyes of someone who has the same pain and darkness thats in hers.

Porter Reese is the single father to two beautiful children. Loosing his wife a few years ago in a car accident. If that didn't haunt him enough. His son is sick. He's on the list for new lungs but he must be healthy or he won't get them.

Every doctor he talks too tells him to go and see Dr. Charlotte Mills. The only problem is she refuses to see pediatric patients. He figures if he can just get her to talk to him she'll make an exception. But, when he sees her everything changes. Porter's never had such a strong connection to anybody before. Not even his wife. Her eyes minick the darkness running around in his.

Even though Charlotte cant be around children, doesn't mean she doesn't want to help anyway she can. Plus, she's drawn to him and him to her. They want to spend time together. Its hard with her schedule and him with his children and his 2 restaurants. But, they agree to try. To stay in the dark.

The last few pages gutted me. Just when I thought I was prepared. Aly definitely had me shocked. I honestly need the second part to this story. BC, everyone in this story need answers. They need closure. Whatever it may be.

For everything Porter and Charlotte have gone through. I hope they can see past whats in front of them and listen to the story. I can't wait for whats next to come in I'm hoping a beautiful ending.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children. Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
