✯Review✯Restless Storm by Jamie Summer

Blurb
Imagine losing everything you loved. Could you go on?

After her father’s death in an unexpected storm, Madeleine Core knew she needed to leave her home behind. The island of Crystal Cove, surrounded by the very element that killed her only family, reminded her too much of the things she lost. Not even one special person could convince her to stay. Now, two years later, a devastating phone call changes everything.

When a storm threatens to destroy the only place that feels like home, Jake Barron knows he needs to do everything in his power to protect the people who saved him. Including Maddy, the one who left him—and everyone else on this island—and never looked back. Seeing her again after two years brings back painful memories for both of them, the betrayal and hurt as fresh as the unresolved feelings they have for each other.

Maddy is forced to go back to the one place she vowed to never see again—and face the person she left behind without so much as a word. As the deadly storm moves on Crystal Cove, Maddy and Jake try to find a way to fight their fears and doubts. Sometimes two people determined to stay away from each other need a push, but what if their second chance is just as restless as the storm blowing in?

✯✯5 Restless Stars!!!✯✯

Jamie Summer has written another amazing story. She loves writing stories with her characters having a love of water. This was no different.

Maddy grew up on Crystal Cove. It’s a small island surrounded by water. Her father was the captain of his fishing boat. One day her father went out on a regular day, for a storm to come out of nowhere. Maddy’s dad didn’t survive the storm. Few days later Maddy got on the ferry and left Crystal Cove. She couldn’t survive without her dad, her last family member. Maddy didn’t tell anybody she was leaving. Not Jake, her best friend the guy she’s in love with or anybody she grew up with.

Two years later and Maddy still has no intention of returning home. Maddy is barely living.  She doing nothing but go to work just to stop her mind and hurt from thinking and hurting. Then Maddy get a call from her past. Jake. And, he called to let her know one thing. There’s a storm coming to Crystal Cove and it night wipe out the Island. If she wants anything from her dads house she better come get it before it’s too late.

Jake’s not sure what to expect when Maddy says she’s coming. He does know it’s best he stay away for now. So, he sends Maddy’s best friend Anna and her Mom Grace to get her at the ferry.  Jake still doesn’t know what’s going to happen with the storm. His plan is to make sure the residents staying on the island stay safe and they don’t loose anybody else in a storm like Maddy’s dad. His other plan is get Maddy on the ferry off the island before she’s stuck here any longer.

Maddy wasn’t planning on coming home this soon. If ever. And, the last thing she expected was her best friend Anna and her mom Grace to pick her up and with open arms. Maddy expected the people of Crystal Cove to hate her for leaving without a word. But, that was farthest from the truth.

Her emotions were all over the place. Everything made Maddy cry. Luckily she’s got so many people around her to catch her when she falls. The more time she spends with Jake, Anna, Grace and everyone else Maddy realizes she’s been gone long enough. Maddy tells Jake she’s not leaving. Except it isn’t that easy. No tourists are allowed to stay on the island and Maddy has been gone for 2yrs so technically she’s not a resident anymore. Maddy has no choice but to leave her friends and doesn’t know if she’ll ever see them again.

I loved Jake!!! He loved Maddy and everybody on the island. He wanted everybody happy, healthy and safe. Even though he faked a smile when Maddy was gone.

Maddy got in my nerves for about 75% of the book. Her poor me attitude got on my nerves after awhile.  Everybody has lost somebody we care about, but that doesn’t mean you leave everybody you care about. But, at the end she made up for it.

I am looking forward to Jamie’s next book. I wish she’d write more from the people on Crystal Cove. ESP Scott and Anna.
