Series: The 4Horsemen #2
Author: Elena Monroe
Genre: Dark Romance
YES!!!! I’ve wanted Vic’s story since I read The Initiation. I just knew there was more to him then we saw. But, when I saw he was falling for Abigail’s best friend Justice I was all about it.
Vic is known as the Golden Boy of The Clave and he always gets the job done. He was the first one who wanted Grim to put Abigail down like a piece of meat but then agreed to help Grim and Abigail when she got pregnant. I knew then there was more to him that he lead on.
Vic AKA Victory makes sure everything at The Clave runs smoothly. He’s party or the four horsemen. They’ve all got a job to do and he makes sure his is done perfectly. Grim left him to look after Justice and he’s not happy about.
Justice hasn’t had an easy life growing up. Her parents died in an explosion while protesting. Justice has picked up where they left off and wants them to be looking down at her and be happy with what she’s done.
After Justice lost her parents she had her grandma and it’s always been them. Then she met Abigail and they’ve become best friends. Justice didn’t like when Abigail started something with Grim.
Next thing she knew Abigail went missing. She disappeared without a word. The only thing left was a card next to her bed. Justice knows Vic, Grim and the other two horsemen are behind Abigail’s disappearances.
Justice AKA Jus will do anything to takedown Vic and his horsemen. She has to move slowly and carefully. Jus shows up to work everyday and does what she has to in the meantime. When Vic moves her to be his secretary is when things become interesting.
Talk about keeping your enemies close. These two don’t like each other. At all!! Yet, for whatever reason they’re seriously attracted to each other and the more time they spend together the harder and harder it is to remember why they hated each other.
Jus is realizing Vic isn’t the perfect Clave soldier. That he doesn’t live in his expensive suits 24/7. Vic wanted to dig into everything Jus and comes across a massive roadblock. Not only from her but from his father, the Clave and from Grim, Khaos and Bowen.
Both Vic and Jus realize they’re more alike then they first thought. They become close and share things with each other and wanna spend more and more time together. Until the truth comes out. When something in their past comes out it changes everything.
Jus runs away from Vic and plans on finishing him once and for all. Vic sees everything different since spending so much time with Jus. Vic is finally being himself for the first time in his life and he doesn’t want to go back to who he was before Jus bulldozed her way into his life. He’ll do whatever he has too to get her back. And, he means anything!!
I got into this book SO much sooner and faster then the first one. Vic is everything!! Khaos has me wanting more of him. I’m looking forward to him and his Starbursts next.
Answering the phone, I held onto my breath, when I heard an older woman's voice come through. “So, you’re the guy responsible for her bad attitude.”
A nervous laugh erupted from me. I had never dated anyone long enough to give them the idea that I would want to speak to anyone important to them.
Besides her.
“I’m so glad you called me back…” The Clave mask slipped back into place, polishing all my stained edges in the hopes of impressing her.
“Didn’t give me much of a choice, since you’ve been calling me every day. Is there something I can help you with?” Her voice showed her age, but her mouth was a family heirloom passed down to Justice.
“I love Justice very much. I wanted to express this to you and prove that I deserve her hand in marriage.”
Laughter poured in from the other end of the phone. “You don’t take no for an answer, do you? If she wanted to marry you, I don’t think she would have evacuated LA like a natural disaster was headed her way.”
“Respectfully, no. I don’t lose gracefully.”
“Go on. I’m gonna need to hear you express those feelings,” she said, but not with an iron fist. Her voice sounded tired and worried for Justice.
“Okay… I’m not a great person, but I’m a better person because of her. I want to be good enough to deserve her.”
“Oh, honey, she wasn’t always a good person either and don’t you let her forget it. Wicked girls like her can’t forget to be humble…”
