Synopsis
Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.
Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.
4.5 STARS!
I am seriously not sure if I will ever be able to get enough of Remmington Tate. When the day comes for this series to come to an end, I may cry actual tears. Katy Evans did the impossible with 'Remy'... she made me love him even more than I already did, and I refuse to ever say goodbye to him. 'Remy' gave us a look into the inner workings of Remy's head at some of the key parts from both 'Real' and 'Mine' which made me very very happy! There were so many times in the other books where I couldn't help but wonder what on earth was going through that complex mind of his... what he was thinking... and now I know. However, as much as I loved being able to see things through Remy's eyes, the ONE negative for me was that there were many parts that seemed very repetitive with the first books (almost like I was re-reading certain parts), and this is why I only gave it a 4.5 stars. I think if I had read them with a couple other books in-between I would have been able to enjoy it even more than I did, and it would not have seemed repetitive.
Now, with that being said, I still loved the story. Katy's writing is incredible. She has such an amazing talent with the way she puts words to paper, and you can't help but be pulled into the world which she creates. One thing I loved about this book was that it was a mix of past and present (continued from where 'Mine' left off). You get to see an even softer, side to Remy in the present, and in the past you get to see just how dark he really gets at times. You get a chance to better understand how his mind works while living with being bipolar, and yes, at times it's almost as if he is two different people. He is so strong on the outside, but inside he is one of the most vulnerable people there is... constantly fighting a war inside his head.
❝My head betrays me half the time. One day, it tells me I am god. The other, it tells me that I not only rule hell, but I invented it. ❞
I absolutely LOVED finding out exactly what went down between Remy and Scorpion after Remy saw the picture of Brooke kissing Scorpion's tattoo... I didn't realize the extent of what happened in that scene until reading 'Remy'! But my absolute favorite scene was reading about exactly what was going through Remy's head when he faced Scorpion in the ring the second time.
❝You think I won't kill you because she's watching? You're wrong. It's because she's watching that I will kill you. ❞
One thing is for certain, although Remy did not grow up with love and affection in his life... he sure knows how to love Brooke whole-heartedly. I don't think I have yet to read another story where there was such a raw, intense, animalistic chemistry between two characters like there is between Brooke and Remy. It's not always pretty. It's not all butterflies and roses. And maybe thats what I love most about their story. It's not a perfect fairytale.... it's REAL!
I absolutely cannot wait to see what is in store for all the characters in the next book. There are so many things I would like to know more about... The history between Remy and Scorpion... What happens to Scorpion (will their feud continue on... will you be given even more reason to hate him?)... I would love to know more about where things will go with Melanie, and also Brooke's sister. And Pete and Riley. Ahhhhh the list could go on and on. Where will Brooke and Remy go from here?
