INCREDIBLE! What else is there to say? I swear, it is impossible for Bella Jewel to write a bad book! Each story I read by her I love her more and more as an author. Number Thirteen was a completely different type of book than any of the others she has written, and it was one hell of a read!!! My emotions were all over the place… my heart twisted, I wanted to cry, and at times I had a HUGE smile on my face (I swear my husband must think I am crazy when I get into a good book lol).
Master William and Number Thirteen were two of the most incredible characters I have encountered. For the majority of the story, I could not decide if I loved or hated William. He made me feel ways I would imagine someone who was bipolar would feel with all the ups and downs. He was complex, and sometimes seemed extremely unfair, but in the end, my heart opened up completely to him and I LOVED him! He was one hell of a beautifully broken man.
"A beautiful heart can never love a dark heart. But a dark heart can crave a beautiful one, and it will. I will crave you, beauty."
Number Thirteen was a fighter with a pure heart. She did not just give herself over to William like he wanted. She did not quietly follow his rules. She continuously pushed and pushed against his walls, and because of that she was shown a side of him which the other girls had not yet seen. It was because of her persistence that she was able to see the beauty inside him and finally open herself up. Despite the situation her and the other twelve girls were in, Number Thirteen continued to put the others before herself… looking out for them as if they were her family, even when they sometimes did not deserve it. There are so many traits that I admired about her character, and wish more people in life could be like her.
My favorite thing about this story was how it showed it's okay to be imperfect.... that having a flaw does not make you a beast. There is beauty in in that which others may find ugly. This was a brilliantly written story, and a much different take on the "dark romance" genre than what I am used to. I was caught off guard by the way the story went…. was not expecting it, but loved each and every second of reading.

About the Author
Bella Jewel is an Aussie girl through and through. She spent her life in Western Australia, growing up in many different areas of the state. She now currently lives in Perth with her husband, children and mass amounts of pets. She's crazy, fun, outgoing and friendly. Writing is her passion, she started at the young age of 18 but finally got the courage up to publish, and her first novel Hell's Knights was released in August 2013.
