Kelly Gendron has done it to me again!! I love her alpha men and Token Kane was worth the wait. We meet Token in Zeke and I have been waiting since. I knew from the prologue I was going to be hooked. But, I was definitely shocked by somethings.
The past 10yrs have been very lonely for Harley Redbourne. Her parents have died and her uncle wasn't there for her the way she needed. Every year gets harder. The same week every year Harley goes on a binder. This years no different except her uncle wants her back home. He sent his best guy to bring her home. Harley was totally unprepared for Token.
Token has never had a Harley in his hands that he couldn't control. Until he walked into the bar and a very drunken Harley falls into his arms. Token will do anything to get her home. Their connection is instant and strong. Token doesn't have an issue getting a woman. But, with Harley it's different. He can see her pain in her eyes. Token wants to be the person that she'll open up to. The one that can help heal her from the inside out.
Token brings Harley into his home and into his crazy family. He has 4 crazy brothers and a sister. Token is hoping spending time around them will help her see she's not alone. Harley gets something from her past and Token is taken back years. Harley isn't the only one thats haunted by things in her life. Token goes on a spiral. When Harley finds out it can go a few different ways.
I read this in 2 sittings. Token may be a big bad ex-boxer. But, he's got such a beautiful heart. He had plenty of times to sleep with Harley. But, he knew it wasn't the right thing to do. Token really is a knight in shining armor.
I loved Harley as well. She's feisty and isn't afraid to say whats on her mind. But, she's hurting and hurting bad. I'm glad when she was there for Token. After Token and Harley can not wait for the rest of the Kane brothers.
“You dare me now, do ya?” He stops close enough for his masculine scent to fill my nose, and laughs, his sexy smile spreading inside his beard. “Do ya know the meaning of a dare, my sweet little lass?” His eyes lower to my mouth.
My palms begin to sweat as I inhale him. Damn, he smells good, and it doesn't help that I haven’t eaten yet today. I’m starving.
“Yes.” I lick my lips, following his eyes as they move back up to mine.
“Then you might want to try another.” He leans down, his tempting lips so close to mine. “Because I’m not afraid to touch you, Harley Redbourne.”
“Is that a threat?”
“No. It’s a fact, and if you don’t get your stubborn little ass in my truck right now, I’m going to show you just how unafraid I am to touch you.”
“And what? If I don’t, you’ll what?” I stammer, stepping back. “Force me?”
“No, if you don’t do as I say, I’ll bend your stubborn ass over my knee and slap that naughty little tush until you learn to behave and do as you’re told.”
“Oh-ho, no, you won’t!”
“No?” His head swings lazily to the other side, eyes sparkling bright. “Dare me.” His arm comes around my straight back. He pulls me against him. “And I’ll show you just how unafraid I am to do that too.”
