Stefanie's Review:

3.5~4 Stars

I was given this book to read for a honest review.  This book was def a slow start for me. But, once it picked up it def kept my attention.

The story begins with Lacey heading to her dad's house. Her father's house is empty except for his cell phone. Which is odd because they're suppose to have dinner there with her dad's girlfriend Mona. When her dad doesn't show up it's obvious he's been kidnapped.

The next day her dad's cell phone ring's and it's Caleb Mansfield. Lacey's ex-boyfriend & close friend of her father's. Her dad sent him the finished files of his work. Caleb learns that Bill Jordan is missing and gets on the 1st flight to help Lacey find her father.

The last thing Lacey wants is Caleb back in her life. He broke her heart years ago. Last thing Lacey wants or needs is the sexy Caleb back in her life. Unfortunately, she realizes rather quickly that Caleb knows more about her father's work then she does. Lacey agrees to let Caleb help her without letting him get to close.

Caleb realizes how much he loves Lacey. He also knows that he hurt Lacey very badly. Lacey doesn't trust him. And, he doesn't blame her. But, he'll do ANYTHING to win her trust & her back!!!

Lacey and Caleb learn quickly that her father's kidnapping is because of his work. And, that Lacey is at risk too. Caleb vows not to leave her side until her father is found & the kidnappers are behind bars. Lacey is def  not liking the idea of Caleb being around 24/7.

We see as the story goes that there are a lot of people that work with Bill & Caleb that could be the kidnappers. But, you'll see that one by one every person you thought it could be.... Isn't. You'll also see Lacey at the worst, most scariest time in her life still staying strong. She starts helping Sam. Her employee at her store. Sam is pregnant and is scared. Lacey helps her weigh her options on having & raising her baby. Or finding a good family and giving her baby up for adoption.

What I really liked about this story was Caleb and Lacey's relationship. I loved how they still loved each other after all these years. And, no matter how hard Lacey fought the feelings for Caleb. Deep down she  loved him. She just didn't trust him. But, she def keep's telling herself that she needs to learn to trust him. I really loved how caring and protective Caleb is of Lacey and everybody else he cares about. He gave Lacey all the help in the world that she needed. With giving her the space she needed to learn to trust him again.

I really wish the story with Sam would of had a actual ending. I felt like it was left open and not finished. For me, it really didn't have  that much suspense to the story. It was more of a love story. But, it was a good story with a great ending. Michelle Grey's next book look's great as well.

"You were made to see and believe in the good in people. That's part of who you are, but sometimes our greatest strength is also our greatest weakness. Believing in others, trusting others, can open you up for heartache."

"It's the waiting I hate the most. I just want something to happen. Something we  can act on."

"Pretty simple really. I thought we were in love. I was wrong. I thought we were going to spend our lives together. Wrong again. He left and that was it."

Desperate to escape the demons, Ash accepts a place at a university in the small town of Blackstone, in the middle of nowhere – little knowing that it isn’t coincidence that led her there but the pull of the Venantium, the sorcerers who maintain the barrier keeping demons from crossing from the Darkworld into our own world.

Author Bio:

Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing fantasy and paranormal for young adults. She was born in Birmingham, UK, which she fled at the first opportunity to study English Literature at Lancaster University. In her three years at Lancaster, she hiked up mountains, skydived in Australia, and endured a traumatic episode involving a swarm of bees in the Costa Rican jungle. She also wrote various novels and short stories. These included her first publication, a rather bleak dystopian piece, and a disturbing story about a homicidal duck (which she hopes will never see the light of day).

Now a reluctant graduate, she can usually be found in front of her writing desk, creating weird and wonderful alternative worlds. Her debut novel The Puppet Spell, published in 2013 by Rowanvale Books, is a fantasy tale for young adults and the young at heart, inspired by her lifelong love of the fantastical, mythology, and video games. Emma also writes supernatural fantasy novels for older teens and adults. Her next book,Darkness Watching, is the first in the upper-YA/New Adult Darkworld series, and will be published in September 2013 by Curiosity Quills Press

Ariana's Review:

4.5 hot, sexy stars!!!

I would like to start off by giving Chelsea a HUGE round of applause. She has really hit it out of the ball park with Beyond Repair. This whole series was really great, and I enjoyed seeing how she improved and really came into her own as a writer. I really was not ready at all for this series to come to an end, however she did end it off with a bang.

Beyond Repair is the story of Harrison, Sophia, and Tiffany. Yes, Tiffany... the same one who was a mega BITCH all along. I never thought the day would come where I would actually feel anything but dislike for her character, but I did. I found myself feeling bad for the girl, and actually rooting for her to come out on top. And Harrison....YUM! He has me very curious to what those piercings of his would be like. I will just leave it at that before I end up turning this review into an erotica. This is a new story, following these characters, but it also continues the flow of the previous books as well which I absolutely LOVED about it.

Harrison and Sophia have been hooking up for two years. They have a great arrangement of no strings attached sex... that is until Harrison realizes that he wants more than just a casual sex buddy. But is that something Sophia will be willing to accept and move forward with? When Harrison and Tiffany's good friend Matt (who is like his brother) is killed serving his country, Tiffany throws herself back into Harrison's life. There is no denying that the chemistry between the two of them is still there, and Harrison begins to question everything that has happened since their split. As he spends some time with Tiffany to help her get through her grieving, they begin to form a bond, and Harrison is able to forgive her for their past.

"Trust me Tiffany, let me go slow, I will give you the release you crave, but let me go slow."

Will one single lapse of judgement tear Harrison away from Sophia and throw him into the arms of Tiffany once again? Will history repeat itself, or will Sophia finally agree to take the next step in their relationship?

This book contains many hot and steamy sex scenes. If you are not comfortable reading this kind of story then I do not suggest reading Beyond Repair. However, if you are like me, and enjoy reading all the juicy details and finding yourself needing a nice cold shower to cool off afterwards THEN GO READ THIS NOW! This is a story of loss, forgiveness, love and finding yourself. Beyond Repair is well written, gives you closure, and is a phenomenal way to end off the series.

"Life is short, tomorrow isn't promised. I want every breath I have left to breathe, to be one loving you."

Playing With Fire (Guarded Hearts #1) by Ashley Piscitelli *REVIEW*

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Madison Stevens has had a shitty life, her mother died at the age four and her father has always blamed her for it. She went through the foster system and is now attending college. Her boyfriend Chris is not willing to share Madison with anyone, not even her friends.

Her first day at college she meets Carter James, who makes her want everything she never thought she could have. She knows that she should ignore her feelings for Carter, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

As Carter and Madison begin to fall in love, they face many obstacles. Their biggest one is Chris who is not going to let her go easily.

Playing with Fire will be the first book in a three book series. It is about the obstacles that stand in your way on the path to love. It tests the characters strength and commitment to each other on every level from old boyfriend/girlfriends, to insecurities, and throws a little violence and scheming into the mix.

"Chris was like fire. It was pretty to look at but if you got too close you got burnt, and if it wasn’t controlled it would destroy everything in its path. Doing what I was about to do with Carter was dangerous, but what can I say I never had parents to warn me not to play with fire."

**Playing With Fire is for mature audiences only—strong language, and explicit sexual content are apparent.**

Ariana's Review:
4 - 4.5 amazing stars!!!

What a great read this was! I flew right through this book. Characters were very well developed and the flow of the story overall is very good. There were a couple small parts that seemed a little repetitive to me, but other than that I don't really have anything negative to say about Playing With Fire. They author, Ashley, really made it so that I was able to connect to the characters and fell different emotions as I read. Warning, this book does contain quite a bit of sexual content (both consensual, and non-consentual), and some violence as well. If you are not okay with reading this kind of stuff, then this book probably isn't for you. Me, I loved every bit of it.

I absolutely LOVED Madison (the lead girl in the book). The things that the poor girl had been through in her life were absolutely horrible. Her mother died when she was a little girl, and her father became a drunk and constantly told her how it was her fault for her mothers death. Eventually she was taken from her father and put in foster homes where she was abused and taken advantage of in many different ways. All her life she had been told she was worthless and that no one would love her. Hearing about Madison's past completely broke my heart. Present day, she was off at college and dating a guy named Chris whom she had been with for some time. Now you want to talk about a complete Asshole, Chris is the biggest piece of shit. His Character made me so angry throughout the story. He was an abusive, psychotic prick! He would hit Madison, boss her around, threaten, and talk down to her. She was too afraid to leave him. But then she met Carter. Carter was not the type of guy who dated. He had no problem getting girls in bed, but never wanted anything more... until he met Madison (Maddy). Now, every guy in the world should take a page out of Carter's book with how he treated Maddy. What a sweet, romantic, loving, sexy (the list goes on and on) man. *Swoon*

"Every time she comes into a room, I can't take my eyes off of her. When she touches me, sometimes I need to remember how to breathe."

It wasn't long before they fell for each other, but Chris was always there trying to break them apart and stake his claim back on Madison. I don't understand why he couldn't just leave her alone! He did not love her, or even care about her. So many times throughout the story I found myself wishing I would run into him in real life so I could kick the ever-loving shit out of him!!!! And every time you thought Maddy would have a happily ever after, something else would come and try and knock her down. But the best thing about her character was her inner strength. With everything that happened in her past, and what happened throughout the story, she would pull herself through it and not let it turn her into an empty shell, or into a person like the ones that hurt her. She had a heart of gold even though she was damaged so badly.

There were a couple other characters that played a big part in the story line. Nicole (Nic) was Madison's roommate, and one who became such an amazing friend to Maddy and helped her through everything. There was also Jason and Shawn who were Carter's best friends. They were such awesome characters too, and they looked out for Maddy like she was their sister... especially Jason. They all became like a close knit family. But I am dying to know what the hell was going on with Shawn later in the story? Although that didn't play a huge part in the overall story, its still driving me nuts! And when the book ended, I still did not have answers! I really hope book 2 will get into this and explain why he keeps going MIA and whatnot.

I loved how Carter did all he could to show Madison how much she meant to him, and how special she was every single day. After all she had been through, she deserved everything good.

"This is me and you, Maddy. Separate from you, I look normal, but I am only complete when we are together. I need you with me, by my side, and in my life because you're my other half."

Have I mentioned the sex yet? No? Well, let's just say that I needed to take MULTIPLE cold showers while reading. Heck, maybe I should have just sat in a bathtub full of ice to keep myself cool. Those scenes were HOT! I'll take one order of what Carter is serving please!!!!

This book will have you feeling all sorts of emotions throughout the entire story. When this happens, and you can really connect to the characters, you know you found yourself a good book. Playing With Fire is that and so much more. Amazing story and an ending that will knock you off your feet! I did not see that one coming!!! Thank god I was given the second book (Breaking Through the Wall) at the same time because if I had to wait even one day to continue the story and find out what happens, I may have lost my mind! HOLY CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!

Excerpt:

Because I stayed up late trying to finish up a batch, I ended up forgetting to set the alarm. The only reason I wake up is because Dog is running something fierce in his dreams again, maybe looking to catch uncatchable tennis balls. The final blow comes when he kicks me directly in the kidney, making my leg jerk up so that I almost kick him in the face.
“You’re lucky I love you, you furry son-of-a-bitch.”
He gives me a look that tells me to go screw myself and yawns in my face.
“Jerk.”
It’s past ten and I don’t want to hear crap about missing more classes, so I don’t bother to do anything except brush my teeth and throw on some semi-clean clothes. My skin is probably combustible by this point anyway, so showering won’t make any difference. Then again, maybe I would get lucky and catch fire at some point throughout the day.
At least that would lighten things up.
Hardy har har. Ain’t I clever?
No surprise. The Stooges are already waiting for me in the parking lot when I get to school. Twitching more than usual, Sam Anderson looks like he’s about to pick out the last of his hairs from his head. I guess that’s why he cut it so short to begin with. And I swear if Ryan Fuller’s face breaks out anymore, FEMA will have to declare him a natural disaster area. I can see the signs and yellow caution tape now. Warning: Standing too close to this junkie may cause you to go blind from his ugliness.
And that’s the thing about meth; it makes you ugly, but not just on the outside. We all end up ugly on the outside eventually (don’t get me started about western standards of beauty) but crank makes you ugly on the inside, like evil stepsister ugly. So ugly that I almost forget when we all used to be friends; Sam, Ryan, Luke, and me, before Mom left and Frank started using, and all that other shit. Maybe meth makes it easier to forget. I don’t know.
I must have become too weird for them to hang out with. At least until I had something else to offer them, something that helps Sam and Ryan make weight for wrestling and help Luke make the money for the car he wanted. Then suddenly I’m their best friend again.
Poof!
Presto!
Alakazam!
Even that didn’t last long, because now their eyes bug, and they itch, and twitch. They bug, itch, twitch and they sell. They sell for me. I know it isn’t smart to shit where you eat, but I keep everything in-check by keeping them in-check. I mean, I don’t even have to pay them; they work for product, for Christ’s sake.
I make them their own batch, battered down and diluted so I get the most use out of them for my buck—so to speak. If anything ever did happen, if they ever did turn me in to save their own asses, all anybody would see is a few strung out losers with a story. It would be my word against theirs. And on paper I’m an honor roll student who has never bothered anyone.
Then there are other ways of getting rid of evidence should I ever need it, so I’m not too worried about The Stooge aspect of business.
I know instantly when I see them that they must be hurting. In a way it’s funny, these guys have no concept of self-control, and they always end up bingeing on what I bring them. Half the time, they want even more than what our original arrangement dedicated and I have to remind them that they’ll have to pay me on top of working for me.
“McKay! McKay!” Before I can even get out of my truck, Luke is all over me, practically jumping on the windshield like Dog used to do when he was younger. But when I give him the look, he simmers down a bit and backs off. I thinking figure people are watching us from the windows. I know they aren’t, but I still can’t help but think it.
“Dude, how ya been?”
I look around, and because the school day is half-over and the parking lot is deserted, but I don’t want to risk a security guard finding us out here, I hold them off a little longer.
“I’m not giving you anything.”
“Dude, we’re starting to feel the pain here.”
As if I cared.
Then Anderson makes that whiny sound in the back of his throat and Ryan is scratching at the sores that have formed on his arms over the last few weeks and I am thinking: college, college, college. Out, out, out.
So I dangle a possibility in front of them.
