Review of Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) by J.R. Ward

Synopsis from Goodreads:

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Melanie's Review:

**4 STARS**

Please, Please, Please let vampires really exist!!! So wow, do they make vampire sex sound hot!!! *fanning self* This book doesn't give human men, such as my husband, a chance! :) (he would so want to kill me for that lol)

I was recommended this series and when I first started reading it I honestly wasn't loving it but then once it got into the story more then I could hardly put it down. I love all of the brothers...gorgeous, tall, strong vampires...count me in!!!

The Black Dagger Brotherhood are a band of "brothers" who protect their species from any harm. Wrath is the leader of the Brotherhood. His "brother" Darius goes to Wrath and explains that his daughter, who doesn't even know he is alive, will soon be making the transition fom human to vampire and asks Wrath to help her survive the transition but Wrath refuses. Darius is later killed by a car bomb that was planted by the Lessers (humans with no soul who kill vampires) and Wrath feels he owes it to Darius to watch out for his daughter, Beth.

When Beth and Wrath meet there is immediate chemistry between them...feelings that Wrath has never experienced before.

Wrath is soooo freakin hot...he is super sexy, possessive, protective, and passionate. And Beth is a really great character as well...for someone who is just learning vampires even exist, not to mention that she will be becoming one, she handles it extremely well and she is a very strong and brave woman. Finally a female lead that doesn't take shit from her man...thank God!!!

I am so glad to have started this series and I seriously can not wait to keep reading about all of the brothers!!!
