He spins around, and before I know it, he has backed me against the wall. He slams his hands on either side of my head, trapping my hands with them, and then crushes his mouth to mine. I let out a gasp of surprise and he takes advantage, slipping his tongue into my mouth. His kiss is so frenzied and urgent, so full of need. It’s unlike anything I have ever experienced in my life. I’m not innocent—I’ve been kissed by plenty of guys—but never like this.
He’s taking complete control over me and dominating every sense of my being. He pulls back a little, biting down on my lower lip, causing me to moan with a mix of pleasure and pain. I open my eyes to see him staring at me with such desire that my insides warm. Before I know what’s happening, he releases my hands and speeds out the door.
I stand there, pressed against the wall, panting from the most soul shattering and mind-altering kiss I have ever experienced. When I finally catch my breath, I smooth out my hair and clothes, and then make my way back to the crowd. Shawn Matthews is the kind of guy that my dad had warned me to stay away from, but there is no way in hell that’s happening now.
I cannot even begin to describe how excited and happy I was to FINALLY know what was going on with Shawn and to have his story! It was a long and torturous wait, and well worth it in the end. I love the way that Ashley incorporated all the characters from the first two books into this story as well which really helped to tie it all together. The story was full of twists and turns, one of which I totally did NOT see coming at all whatsoever!!!!
Christen and Shawn had some seriously intense chemistry right from the beginning. As with Carter and Jason in the first 2 books, I almost instantly fell in love with Shawn. I mean, I always liked his character, but he became seriously HOT in this book!
"I need you to guide this. You need to tell me when to stop, because if you don't, I won't."
Each of the characters from this series has their own problems and obstacles to overcome, but they have each other to help them get through it all. From psychotic exes to obnoxious parents to the sweetest characters that leave your heart twisted and weeping for them, this book has it all. I felt so many different emotions while reading this.
My only complaint is that it was too quick of a read, and the end did felt a bit rushed. There were so many twists and turns happening all at once, and I wish certain scenes had been expanded on a bit. I have fallen in love with each of the characters from this series and am incredibly sad to see it come to an end. Although most things were tied up and given closure, I can't help but feel sad for Holly and hope that she will at some point get her Happily Ever After as well.
