Synopsis
This life isn’t one that I chose for myself.
Years spent as a daughter in the Dominion MC left me washed up and struggling to breathe. Life was never flowers and sunshine. It was gravel and dust, the trails of dirt left behind when the brothers tore out, floating up from the ground to hover in front of an angry, red sun.
I could never have imagined that a life sitting at rock bottom could get any worse, but it did.
Life is funny like that.
Just when you think things can’t get any more bleak, a shade is drawn leaving you staggering and blind – lost in a world of heartache and sorrow.
I met J.D. Brooks on the road and he swept me off my feet. Literally. But not in the way you might think.
He was both an angel and a demon.
He was the most vicious storm that ever darkened my life.
He was also my salvation.
Stripped from the hands that always held me back, I was released into a nightmare that would threaten everything I thought I knew about the crap hand I’d been dealt.
I thought I could never hate a man more than the one who stole me from the life I’d known.
And in our time together, he would teach me one important lesson:
That in the end, it doesn’t matter how our paths intersect, because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives...
...we’re all stuck traveling down hard roads.

6 Stars!!!!
Wow, Lily White has done it again. For someone who had never before written anything MC, she really nailed it on the head. This book had a bit of everything in it; action, suspense, gore, darkness, love story. I loved how each and every character you encountered throughout the story, no matter how small their role, or how little they were actually in it, had amazing character development… you felt a connection to each one… Whether it was hatred, anger, love, admiration, or fear.
From the beginning you are instantly drawn into Holly and JD's story, and what a crazy story it was! There were parts which made me cringe and rivaled the pure evil and fucked-up-ness of Joseph Fallen (a book written under Lily's other alias M.S. Willis- which happened to be THE DARKEST and MOST TWISTED book I have ever read in my life), and other parts which touched my heart and made me swoon a bit.
JD was a total asshole when you were first introduced to him. Although he was not the one who originally took Holly from her life, he was the one who continued to hold her against her own will and who turned her over to the monsters that would torture and abuse her… forever changing her life. He cared more about himself than an innocent life. He wanted out from the MC club, and nothing was going to stand in his way. Especially a woman he just met who meant absolutely nothing to him. But as the hours ticked by after he left her in the hands of Diablo (whom was one sick and twisted fucker!!!!), his mind kept wandering back to those colorless eyes which had somehow grasped a small part of his soul that he knew he would never be able to move on without.
Holly was such a strong female lead character. I loved her wittiness and how she was ready to fight for herself. She did not just lay down and take what was thrown at her. Having been born into the MC, Holly had seen and heard things no young girl should be privy to. Her mother died young, and she was left to deal with the asshole bikers on her own. Her dad was too busy with the club, and spiraling into his own black hole to seemingly care about her. She desperately wanted a life away from the Club. But sometimes you need to be careful just what you wish for. Her father crossed one too many people after her mothers passing, and because of that Holly had become the target.
This was a fast paced, dark and gritty story which gripped you immediately, and left you itching for more, just like Lily's other books. I am really really hoping Diablo will get his own book, although I am sure that will be it's own level of craziness if it happens. His character was a small part, but had such a HUGE impact, and the scenes with him were extremely dark and intense. I absolutely love love LOVED this book!
