Synopsis
Flesh-eating zombies, dirty sex, and a shattered past…
What’s more dangerous—the man who broke her heart or those trying to eat it?

Fighting to survive, Eve finds herself alone in the world after the Crave—the only parallel of her former life. On the hunt for her sister, she runs into Gage—the first and only boy to have her heart and break it. It’s been four years and he isn’t a boy anymore, nor is he the same person he used to be. Against her better judgment, Eve agrees to stay with him when he divulges information on a safe haven near the small town they grew up in—but that doesn’t mean she has to like it…

Returning home elicits a myriad of emotions that both Eve and Gage thought they had buried. The past and present collide and they are forced to the face bitter deceits that ruined them in the before and threaten to destroy them now…

3 Stars
'Alive' was a post apocalyptic story which followed the lives of Eve & Gage, and also followed the life of Eve's sister Olive. It was almost as if you were reading three stories all at once. The back story of Eve & Gage from before the "Crave" (zombie outbreak) was explained in bits and pieces throughout the entire book. The story alternated between the past (before the outbreak), the present, and what was happening in Olive's life after her and Eve got separated.

I absolutely adored Gage. There was something about him which drew me in like a moth to a flame. Eve, I found to be a bit irritating, but in the very end she had grown on me a bit. She was just to wishy washy and kind of a bitch. I mean, she had reason to be, but it was like come on and move past your anger towards Gage and focus on the present. At times I wish I could have just stuck my foot up her ass to knock some sense in her.

I had read quite a few post apocalyptic/zombie books in the past, so I was expecting 'Alive' to be a little more action packed, blood and gore (with a love story too). On that aspect I was disappointed. It was not the heart racing, keep you on the edge of your seat zombie story which I had been accustomed to. Will I be reading the next book in the series when it comes out? YES. The way 'Alive' left off has certainly made it so I will HAVE to read book two.
