6 Deliciously Dark Stars!

Ok, ok Breathe Ariana… just breathe….

Ok, now that I have composed myself I can begin. This book was just WOW. What else is there to say about it? It is a definite MUST READ! I am assuming that most of you have already read some kind of dark book by now, so you think you have some sort of idea with what to expect from Her Master's Courtesan (HMC)… right? WRONG! Take any ideas you may have had as to what a dark and twisted book would be and just throw them out the window. Go ahead, i'll wait……

Have they been thrown away yet? Yes? Good… now we can proceed. 

Now, let me just explain one thing about myself. I am a HUGE fan of dark reads. The darker, the better. And let me just say that even I was blown away with the intensity and fucked-up-ness of this book. I have read some seriously messed up books in the past, but this one has certainly topped any and all that I have read... and for me, that is a phenomenal accomplishment on Lily's part. 

HMC was a book that messed with your mind the entire time. Just when you thought you knew exactly how the story was going to play out, it would take a little twist here, and a little turn there, and throw you slightly off course… not enough to make you fall face first in the dirt, but just enough to cause you to stumble and throw you slightly off balance. It was one hell of a ride which led to a completely unexpected ending that literally left my jaw slamming into the ground. The characters drew you in, and you felt like you were a part of the story, and you were almost able to physically feel all the pain and heartache which Rebecca felt. The concept itself was the kind of story that has been done in the past (man captures woman and trains her to be a sex slave), however Lily's approach to this type of story put an extremely unique twist on it. A large portion of the book was told from the Captor's POV which I am not used to seeing at all. It was BRILLIANTLY executed, and extremely well written. To see straight into the twisted mind of such a monster really gave a completely different view of these types of books, and makes you re-think everything you have known about the dark genres.

The two main characters were incredible. Aiden was by far one of the biggest assholes you will ever come across in a book. I'm not even sure he has any sort of a heart at all whatsoever. Yet somehow I still loved him. Is he a prick? YES! Is he abusive? Yes. Will he ever change? Highly doubtful. Yet somehow Lily made him to still sound sexy as hell, and you can't help but hope and pray that he will turn out to be a better person in the end. Rebecca was a pretty kick ass female lead. She had a lot of strength that I don't think she even realized that she had. Where most girls would have broken almost immediately, she continued to hold onto a little bit of her own mind throughout all the bad shit thrown in her direction. She was a fighter through and through which was something I was able to admire about her character. There was this intense connection between Aiden and Rebecca…but not the kind you get in your happily ever after romance novel. Oh no, this connection was pure primal, sexual need.  It was dark and twisted and wrong on so many levels, yet still had some insanely hot scenes going on!

"Getting off on his form of torture was wrong, but I was fast becoming an addict and I was no longer worried about how others would look at me." 

Please be aware that this book contains kidnapping, consensual and non-consensual sex, violent and disturbing graphic scenes, and a whole lot of kinky fuckery.
