Man, what an ending to another amazing series from Micalea Smeltzer!!! This is the 4th and final book of the Willow Creek series. I went from not loving Hayes to really, really loving him.
We met Hayes in the very first book Last To Know. But, it wasn't until In Your Heart that we really got to know him and got introduced to Arden and her daughter Mia. Hayes had told Sadie in In Your Heart that he was tired of the random hook-ups. That he was ready to find a girl and really settle down and do the whole relationship family thing. When they all went on vacation and he spent time with Arden and Mia his life instantly changed. Too bad Arden will only give him one night.
Take A Chance picks up a few months after we left off. Arden is still working at Sadie's clothing store. No matter what she does or says she can not get Joshua Hayes and their time spent together outta her mind. He might be the hottest guitar player around. But, she doesn't look at him that way. She's ignored his calls and texts for weeks now. Arden lives for her daughter Mia. Her ex-husband Todd left shortly after Arden found out she was pregnant. Todd was nothing but an abusive asshole! So, when he packed up and left without a word Arden didn't blink an eye. But, she's closed her heart off to men. Even Hayes.
When Hayes realizes Arden isn't going to answer his calls or texts he does the next best thing to get her attention. He shows up at her job where she can't hide. Perfect!! Arden can't look at Hayes and hide or deny the connection they have. Arden and Hayes know what they want and what they don't want.
No matter how many times Arden tries to push Hayes away, it's useless. Because, he'll do something so crazy or so adorable she just can't resist and not smile at him. I mean this man had given himself a birthday party with the whole Willow Creek family at Chuckie Cheese. Spent the whole time with his Miss Mia. That right there would of had me!
Arden, Hayes and Mia had gotten into a routine rather quickly. Once Arden realized Hayes belonged with her and Mia she went with it. She did an excellent job at letting Hayes spoil Mia without letting it going too overboard and without letting Mia become the typical spoiled 3yr old.
Just when you think the 3 of them are going to get their HEA, think again. Somebody from Arden past comes back with a vengeance. Todd is back and he's back to abuse Arden some more.
Hayes and Arden were perfect together!! Remy and Mathias have been my favorite couple this whole series. But, Arden and Hayes have just tied first place!
Arden is beautiful. She's absolutely strong and a force to be reckoned with. Mia is her life, her heart and her entire world. She worked hard for everything she had. She was afraid to let Hayes in. I for one was glad she did. Arden deserved to be happy.
Hayes is sexy. He is also lonely. I was so happy he chose Arden and Mia to settle down with. They made him whole. He let both Arden and Mia know he loved them both and they were his family. Even though Mia wasn't his biological daughter she was his.
Micalea gave us a series full of strong, beautiful, perfect, funny couples. It's nice Maddox, Emma, Mathis, Remy, Ezra and Sadie are in every book. It's like watching Friends every episode has you laughing, crying from laughing, crying or your holding your breathe to see what is going to happen next. I am extremely sad to see this series come to an end. But, excited to see what Micalea writes next!!
