✯Review✯ 'Songbird' by Lisa Edward

Synopsis
Every relationship changes you, some for the better, others can shatter your confidence and almost destroy you.

For the musically talented, twenty-four year old Tara O’Connell, her relationship with Stephen almost broke her, until Tara found the strength to leave.

Now she is on the road to discovering that it is never too late to pursue your dreams and follow your heart.

As Tara’s self-belief grows, she meets two men she is instantly drawn to who will change her life forever.

Corporal Riley Hammond is a soldier in the Australian Military Special Forces. With his smiling sapphire blue eyes, Tara falls for him instantly. He is thoughtful and caring, and gives her the support and love she needs.

While Cole Michaels is the overconfident singer in a popular local band. His charisma, emerald green eyes, tattoos and piercing, have girls falling at his feet. But while Cole pushes
Tara’s buttons, he also pushes her to reach for the stars.

Both men couldn’t be more polar opposites, but both offer Tara different qualities that she needs to fulfil her destiny.

As Tara continues her journey, she will discover fate can offer you more than one path. Her fate is in her own hands, and the choices she makes, will shape her life forever.

6 STARS!!!!!!
Wow! What a phenomenal debut from Lisa Edward. Words cannot even begin to describe how much I loved reading this book. A beautiful and captivating story with some of the most lovable characters ever. I could not have asked for more… well, except maybe for more Cole. There is something about that guy that just has my panties in a bit of a bunch LOL.

There were so many incredible characters in this story, I don't even know where to begin.
Tara- She had been in an emotionally abusive relationship for two years. With the help of her best friend Kelli, she packed up and moved out… leaving that chapter of her life behind her. She had been so brainwashed by her now ex boyfriend, that she didn't even realize just how beautiful of a girl she really was. With the help of Kelli, and some new found friends, she sets off on a journey of re-discovering herself, and putting herself back together. She is genuinely sweet and loving, and my heart ached for her to see how badly her ex had screwed with her head.

Enter Riley- the best friend of Kelli's boyfriend, and also a soldier in the Australian Army. The second Tara and Riley lay eyes on each other, the chemistry is undeniable. Things quickly heat up between the two of them, and before you know it, she has fallen head over heels for someone who she will spend more days apart from than being together with. But Riley is the absolute SWEETEST guy, and totally swoon-worthy… which completely makes up for his time away. Why are all the best guys fictional?!? It's just not fair! I mean, he is seriously the closest thing to perfect that has ever existed (yes, in my mind I am pretending he is real, and that he is mine!).

"I'd built up all these walls, and convinced myself I was happy on my own just focusing on my career, and then with one smile you completely turned my world upside down."  ~Riley

BUT, even with how perfect Riley is, there is still some serious competition in the BBF department in Songbird. His main competitor for my heart is Cole (aka "Mr. Hotbod"). I always was a sucker for a bad boy, and Cole is no exception. Sexy, tattooed rocker with a playboy reputation… is there any girl he has not hooked up with? He is overly cocky and completely arrogant, but when he was around Tara you were able to see glimpses of the man who hid behind that act. There was just so much to him, and so much left unexplained and I was left with a little ache in my chest and the NEED to know what will happen next. It has been a couple days since I finished reading this book, and my mind STILL cannot decide which of these men I loved more. Can I just have them both? PLEASE? Lisa, I will sell my soul if you can make this happen! Honestly, its tearing me apart because I cannot decide which man I am rooting for Tara to end up with in the end! I don't think that has ever happened to me in a book before.

"I'll still remember the night we met as the night that changed my life. You're my exception to every rule." ~Cole

Where Songbird was not left off as a huge cliffhanger, it did leave me NEEDING  more. And not just a "Wow, I liked this book and can't wait to read the next one". Oh no, it was a "OH MY GOD! How long until book 2? More than a day? Well fuck me! I will never make it. I NEED more NOW!". Lisa Edward is definitely a new author everyone needs to keep their eyes on. If you have not yet read the book, GO. BUY. IT. NOW! No, seriously. Stop reading whatever you are reading now, and start reading this. Songbird is one book I can confidently say you will not be sorry that you read it!
