✯Review✯ Flawed Heart by Bella Jewel

Blurb
**This is a full length, second chance romance**

Max & Belle's story

This isn't the man I married.
The man I married was strong, beautiful and pure.
The man I married cherished our lives together.
The man I married loved me.

This...This isn't that man.

One night. One accident. It changes everything.

I wish I could tell you the exact moment he fell out of love with me. I wish I could tell you there was hope. That I hung on. That I fought. I wish I could tell you that we fixed it. That happily every after was just out of our grips.

It wasn't. I ran, in the dead of the night, I packed my things and I left him.

Now I'm back. He's still the same man. A deadly underground fighter for the House of Obsidian. He's still dangerous. He's still broken. I still love him.

This is the part where I'm supposed to turn around and run... But I don't.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and FINALLY getting Max and Belle's story. Ever since first being introduced to their characters, I was completely and utterly intrigued. While Flawed Heart was NOTHING like I expected, it was still a great read nonetheless.

Let me start off with the negatives for me, and then I will get to the positive. There are two negatives for me with this story, which is why it did not get a 5 star rating from me. The first, and major issue for me with the book was that I really wanted to see more from Max's POV in the present. Especially when he first saw Belle again after 5 years. I feel like this was a big thing that should have been showed, and in talking to some other friends of mine who read the book, they too felt the same way. I feel like a part of the story was missing without it.
Another thing that bothered be was how Belle was made to feel like their 5 year split was her fault. Not for nothing, but if a man ever treated me the way Max did to her, I sure as shit would not have stayed around. I would have taken off, just like Belle had. I didn't like how she was made to feel like shit and like it was her fault. I understand his reasoning for pushing her away, BUT he really treated her worse than the shit under your shoe. How could he expect her to actually stay around and fight for their relationship after acting that way?!?!? While he didn't physically abuse her, he mentally and emotionally abused her, and I am actually shocked with just how much she put up with before walking away.

Now, with the negative out of the way, I loved the story in general. The switching from past to present is always one of my favorites, and I absolutely loved getting to learn about their relationship from the beginning…leading all the way to where they are now. Nowadays too much pressure is placed on ones "image" or "popularity", and it was nice to see how Max was able to move past the superficial ideals that were set forth and truly follow his heart. He was a great guy, and I loved his "before" character. Their "before" relationship was adorable and really tugged at my heartstrings. Their "present" was rough. It was full of pain, regret, and heartbreak, but to see how throughout all the years of not seeing one another, and all that transpired between the two of them, they still loved each other wholeheartedly….it warned my heart.
Immy (their daughter) was by far my favorite character in the book. I found myself laughing a lot when she was in a scene. I have two boys her age, and the way the author portrayed her is spot on as to how they act with certain things.

I am really hoping to see more of Max and Belle, and see how their relationship progresses in the future books. That's one of my fav things with Bella's books…..how she always has previous characters making an appearance in later books. They all tie together, and it's amazing to me. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!!!
