✯Release Review✯The Fall of Us (Love in Isolation #5) by Kennedy Fox

The Fall of Us

Love in Isolation, #5

The Fall of Us is now available on all retailers!

What happens when you travel across the country for your dream job and end up sharing a bed with an older man who volunteers you to be his fake girlfriend? You hope you don’t fall in love when it’s time to say goodbye.

The Fall of us is an age gap, fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, close proximity romance.

✯✯5 Mr. Grumpy & Sunshine/PITA Filled Stars!!!✯✯

If you’ve read this series then Oakley’s name sounds familiar Bc she’s Tatum’s younger sister. I been excited to get her story that once I opened my Kindle I couldn’t put it down.

Oakley’s an artist and she’s headed to Vermont Bc she’s been commissioned to paint a piece for the family’s orchard farm and it’s her biggest job to date. Oakley was already nervous but when Finn the owner’s grandson comes to pick her up she’s hot just looking at him but angry Bc he’s grumpy and act’s like she’s an inconvenience to be around. She knows her time here will be long but she doesn’t plan on letting Finn getting too close to bring her down.

Finn had his life planned out until his girlfriend at the time broke up with him and he wants nothing to do with relationship’s from then on and has spent him time working 24/7 on his families orchid.

Finn was annoyed that his grandmother told him he’d have to be the artists tour guide when she gets here. Finn wasn’t expecting her to be beautiful with sunshine radiating off of her. He plans on spending as little time with her as possible.

That was until his ex show’s up to help his aunt get ready for the celebration. Finn sees the engagement ring on her finger and lets it slip out that Oakley’s his girlfriend and Oakley play’s right along with it.

Oakley has to move outta the cottage she was originally going to stay in her Finn’s Ex and move into his place and quickly finds out his room has the only bed and he doesn’t plan on sharing it with her. That is until she takes her sister’s advice and just get into bed with him. It could either make him grumpier then he already is or it’ll make them both give into the temptation they have both had since the airport.

Ugh I’m so upset I’ve finished this book!! I’m in love with Finn, his farm, his family and the town. I’m very excited to read Levi’s book Bc OMG that tease into his story had me LOL. I’m just not looking forward to this series ending.

✯Release Review✯ Fighter's Heart(Crowne MMA Romance #1) by A. Rivers

Title: Fighter's Heart
Series: Crowne MMA Romance #1
Author: A. Rivers
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: December 7, 2020

BLURB

Lena
I never meant to become the go-to P.R. girl for the biggest jerks in professional sports.
Unfortunately, I built a reputation for turning douchebags into superstars, and now I’m stuck.
When I’m assigned to work with a guy accused of hitting his girlfriend, enough is enough.
I know all about men like Jase ‘The Wrangler’ Rawlins, and I have the emotional scars to prove it.
Mouthy, conceited, and hot as f*ck, he’s used to getting his way.
I want nothing to do with him, but my boss makes an offer I can’t refuse.
My dreams are finally within reach, and the more I get to know Jase, the more I wonder if I’ve gotten him completely wrong.
He may be bossy and infuriating, but he’s hiding a heart as massive as his ego.
Can I let go of the past and trust the feelings growing between us when my career is on the line?

Jase
Trouble is nothing new for an MMA bad boy like me, but this time I’m in too deep and can’t get out.
At least, not without help.
That’s where Lena LaFontaine comes in.
All buttoned-up blouses and ass-hugging skirts, she’s a distraction I don’t need, but she’s also the only one who can make my problems go away.
She wants to hate me. I’m not going to let that happen.
I never expect the way I ache to taste her pouty lips and claim her for my own.
My life is on the verge of imploding, and when it does, I’m not sure if I’ll emerge as a champion or be imprisoned for a crime I didn’t commit.
I won’t drag her down with me, but when push comes to shove, I don’t know if I can give her up, either.

Fighter's Heart is a standalone MMA romance with a cocky alpha hero and a sassy heroine who knows how to keep him in check. It has a HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

✯✯Jase & Lena Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Wow what a start to what’s going to be a great series!! I’ve never read or heard of this author before. But after I read the blurb I knew I had to read this and I’m glad I decided to give it a shot.

Lena LaFontaine is to go-to P.R. girl for the biggest jerks in professional sports. She can make the worst of the worst look like an absolutely saint.

When Lena’s boss comes to her with her next client Lena has had it. The last person she wants to represent and make look good is Jase ‘The Wrangler’ Rawlings. Lena has a thing against men that hit woman. Jase’s ex has accused him of hitting her and her boss wants is expecting her to make him look good to the public.

Lena and Jase have an explosive first meeting. She finally gave in and agreed to represent him. Lena will look into what’s going on with Jase and his ex.

Lena doesn’t know what’s come over her. There’s something about Jase. There’s something about the accusations against him that don’t sit well with her. If that was only it. Lena’s attracted to him. Even though Lena knows she needs to keep things professional she fells Jase might be worth it.

Jase is an MMA fighter and he’s worked to damn hard to get where he is to loose it all over a lie. He never laid a finger on his ex and he won’t give into her demands just to get her to recant what she said.

His trainer and manager tell him to get Lena to represent him even though he just wants to ignore it until it goes away.

When Jase hears Lena talk about him like he’s guilty before she’s ever spoken to him it Sweets him on fire and he goes right back at her. Needless to say they don’t like each other regardless of how she makes him feel inside.

The more time Jase spends with Lena the more he wants her to believe he’s innocent and to make her his. Once he gets a taste of her he knows she belongs to him.

When he comes face to face with his opponent to his next fight he learns its Lena’s ex who actually has a hand time keeping his hands to himself.

Jase and Lena have their hands full. Jase wants to destroy Lena’s ex at their fight. Lena wants to get to the bottom of why his ex is claiming he hit her and get the real story out. They’re also fighting their attraction but aren’t really fighting it al that much lol.

This book was everything!! I read it in one day. Once I picked it up and started it I could not put it down!! Jase is SO hot.

I’m in love with Jase’s brother and I can’t wait for Gabe and Sydney’s story next. From the glimpse we got it’s gunna be good and I’m all for it.

EXCERPT

Jase
All the frustration I’ve worked off over the past two hours comes flooding back at the sight of Lena—furious expression, sassy walk, and all. Her cheeks are flushed with anger and her eyes may as well be shooting laser beams straight at me. Her lips move, but I don’t hear the words. My blood has redirected from my big head to my generously proportioned smaller one. Fuck, she’s hot when she’s mad.
She thumps me in the chest, and I scarcely notice. Her fists are tiny. She could probably punch me in the nose and not even crack the bone. Her eyes narrow, and she gets up in my face—a hard ask when she’s several inches shorter than me.
“Do you think this is funny?” she asks, jabbing me in the chest with her free hand. I glance down and see she’s holding a magazine. With a sinking sensation, I take it from her and hold it up so I can see the cover. It’s a photograph from yesterday, of me standing over Erin like a brute. The headline screams at me, and I show Gabe, then shove the magazine into Lena’s hands, sick to my stomach. I won’t read it. I already know it’s full of vitriolic bullshit, and I don’t even blame the reporter for spouting it. I handed the media a gold mine by going after Erin. I’ve made her the poster child for standing up in the face of domestic abuse, with me cast in the role of monster.
Jesus. Fuck.
Lena was right all along. This is serious.
“There are others,” she says, in case I’m holding out any hope that the story has been picked up by a lone tabloid. Closing my eyes, I mutter a stream of curses, growing more creative with each one.
“Hey, brother.” Gabe claps me on the shoulder, which nearly knocks me over since his forearms are covered by heavy kick pads. “You can get past this.” He turns to Lena. “You can fix this, right? That’s what he hired you for?”
Lena releases a long, slow breath. I can sense her hesitation, and it fuels a desperation deep within me. I worked fucking hard to get to where I am. It’s not possible that a selfish girl with a taste for the spotlight could take it away so easily, is it?
“Please.” I grab her free hand between both of mine even though she has a perfect manicure and my gloves are soaked with sweat and completely disgusting. “You’ve gotta try.”
She stares at me, some of her hostility fading, and nibbles on her lower lip. Finally, an excruciatingly long moment later, she says, “You just made my job so much more difficult. I hope you understand that.”
“I do.”
“Trust me, Lena,” Gabe adds. “He may come across as a douche, but he’s not a stupid one. He knows he fucked up.” He shucks his pads and stands shoulder to shoulder with me, the both of us facing her down. This doesn’t seem to intimidate her as it might others. It fires her up. She flicks her sexy red hair over her shoulder and gives us a single, firm nod.
“Well, okay then. Glad we know where we stand.” There’s a brief moment when I think she’s going to move on without rubbing salt in the wound. Then the moment passes. “For the record, I’ve met mushrooms with more forethought than you.”
Should have known she wouldn’t let me off so easily. I suppose if she wants to compare me to fungi, at least it’s a tasty one.
“If we’re going to do this, you need to be a whole lot more open with me. I want no-holds-barred access to your life, Jase. I ask a question, you answer it immediately and truthfully. I make a suggestion, you do everything within your power to make it happen. If you want to climb out of this hole you’ve dug, I need your complete and total commitment. Think you can manage that, fighter boy?”
“That’s fighter man to you.” I can’t resist needling her, and her face screws up the way I knew it would. “But yeah, I’ll do what you say and I’ll accept any help I can get.”
“Good.” Her lips purse, and she seems to have run out of steam. I can see her mentally switching from bulldozer mode to thinking mode, calculating our next steps, figuring out how to get ahead of this, and for the first time, I feel like maybe she’s on my side. Maybe she’s actually invested in me.
The next question out of her mouth is one I don’t see coming. “Is there any truth to Erin’s story?”
“No,” Gabe and I answer at the same time.
“Okay,” she nods, accepting our reply at face value, and I can still see the information running through her mind and being processed. She has a shit poker face, but that’s beside the point. This woman is actually listening to what I have to say and taking it on board. Is she for real?
Her belief in me—if that’s what it is—feels good. Like, unreasonably good. I want to grab her around the waist and twirl her in the air, or take her face between my palms and kiss her irresistible ruby lips. When another ten seconds pass without her saying anything snarky, I’m halfway tempted to strip her clothes off and bang her on the floor, audience be damned.
Finally, she comes to a decision. “There are some things I need to take care of. I’ll be in touch with you later.”
Her hand is still in my grasp, and I squeeze it. “Thanks.” My voice is raspy with emotion, and I cough to clear it. Goddamn it, I am not a pussy.
She studies me, and I’m not sure what she sees, but she seems to like it. “You’re welcome, fighter man.”
My lips quirk up. “You know what I think?”
She tugs her hand away and places it on her hip. “Do I want to know?”
Ah, there’s my mouthy girl. “I think you like me.” She starts to scowl, but I barrel on. “I think you care what happens to me.”
“Do not,” she says, a deep blush traveling down to the neckline of her shirt. With a complexion like that, I bet her entire body blushes, and I want to tear her blouse in half to find out. “I care about keeping my career on track.”
“Uh-huh.” I give her a cocky grin that I know will rile her more. “You tell yourself that, cutie pie.”
She huffs. “You’re insufferable.” Then she whirls around and marches away, the curve of her butt bouncing with each step.
When she’s gone, Gabe whistles under his breath. “Man, she’s something.”
I punch him in the gut, hard enough to sting but not hurt. “Eyes to yourself. She’s not here for your viewing pleasure.”
He guffaws. “That doesn’t stop you.”
“I don’t need you pointing out my hypocrisy.” I stretch my legs and shake them, refusing to analyze why the thought of anyone else checking Lena out makes me want to wrap my arm around the asshole’s throat—friend or not. “Let’s get back to training.”

✯Review✯ Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.

I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike. Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six. Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it... So does heartbreak.

✯✯5 Tanner Filled Stars!!!✯✯

I have wanted both Tanner and Rita from Aly Martinez’s Darkest Sunrise Duet.  I was stoked to find out they were getting a book.  The storyline follows the duet. But, it doesn’t give anything up instead it gives you a few laughs on Tanner’s POV.

Rita’s given everything to her husband. She never went to medical school, she’s changed her looks for what he prefers and she manages his office. She’s your typical trophy wife, the wife of a Dr. When Rita finds out her husband has been cheating on her with a college she’s blindsided, crushed and lost.

Rita’s not sure who she is anymore. Doesn’t know the real her. While at their annual BBQ their job has Rita is confronted by both her ex and his girlfriend. Rita can’t get away. Then a knight comes in to her rescue. Rita didn’t know who this beautiful man was but was grateful for stepping in and then playing along with her. Rita was shocked to learn to was Tanner Reese, celebrity chef.

Tanner Reese has always loved cooking. He spent most of his childhood in the kitchen with his mom instead outside playing sports.

Recently most of his days he’s filming his cooking show instead of in the kitchen doing what he loves. His ex-girlfriend has done nothing but make his life miserable. Bc of her he’s afraid he could loose his show, reputation and who knows what else. His mom and lawyer have advised him to stay away from women.

When Tanner saw Rita being attacked by that guy he can’t help but step in. Tanner was shocked when the beauty looked at him she had no idea who he was. He was just Tanner and not a celebrity chef spending his days cooking without a shirt.

Tanner can see she’s newly single and neither of them are ready for something serious. But, they want to spend time together. What’s wrong with being friends. They can’t help themselves. With a soon to be ex-husband, an ex-girlfriend and his mom in the way these two might be doomed before they begin.

Once I started this I couldn’t put it down. I was petrified that Tanner was going to be Rita’s rebound and I liked him too much to get hurt again. Their story was fast and perfect. It was shocking to see a different side of Momma Reese lol but it was a great read.

I just wish we saw more from Porter and his adorable children. Other then that I liked this.

I shifted the phone to my other ear and asked her, “Did you just get in bed?” “If, by bed, you mean carrying a glass of wine out back to swing in the hammock, maybe.” I bit my bottom lip, my head falling back against the headrest. For most men, this would have been an innocuous statement. But for a hammock connoisseur like myself, this was the normal guy equivalent of her saying that she liked to give blowjobs during halftime. “You have a hammock out back?” There was a delay in her response, which was followed by a subtle kiss of her lips on what I assumed was a wine glass. “Don’t knock it until you try it. It’s one of the most underrated luxuries in outdoor furniture.” “Oh, I’m not knocking anything. Rope or quilted?” “Mayan, actually.” “Oh, sweet heavenly baby Jesus, she’s beautiful and knows her hammocks. I’ve never been so turned on in my life.” She giggled, pausing for another sip. “You know, if you leaked this hammock fetish to the press, you could probably increase demand by five million percent and singlehandedly lower the country’s unemployment rate.” Okay, so at some point during the day, she’d figured out who I was. But! Even with this knowledge, she was trying to avoid a date with me and was not elbow-deep in planning our televised wedding. This was a definite plus in my book. “Yeah, but then, when I talked to beautiful women like yourself, I’d have no idea if the hammock was your idea or a ploy to impress me.” “Jeez, that’s sad, Tanner,” she said, her sweet Southern accent like a wave rolling over my name. I’d meant it as a joke, but it was the absolute truth when it came to dating. Early on in my career, I’d done a rapid-fire interview about my personal life. One of the questions had been: What would your ideal woman order on the first date? Truth be told, the only thing I hoped my ideal woman would order was something she wanted. I didn’t factor into that. But I’d been on my last question in my last interview of the last day of a month-long press tour. My face had hurt from fake smiling, I’d been in desperate need of a shower, a smoke, and sleep, and my mind had been mush, so I’d prattled off the first thing that had come to mind: shrimp and grits. That one little answer somehow made it onto my Wiki page, and after that, every woman I’d taken out ordered shrimp and grits. One of them even had a shellfish allergy and nearly ended up in the hospital. And this insanity was not limited to women outside of the spotlight. I’d once gone on a date with America’s princess of pop, Levee Williams. We’d hit it off at a charity event. For one of the most famous women in the world, she was a surprisingly nice girl, gorgeous, and funny as all get out. But the first time I took her out? One guess what she ordered. I was at the end of my rope with dating and lost my freaking mind before storming out like an asshole. That night, as I was reporting shrimp and fucking grits as an error to Wiki, I noticed that her page listed it as her favorite food. I’d never had the balls to contact her again, and I once hid behind a palm tree on Rodeo Drive when I heard the clamoring of paparazzi calling her name. But that’s neither here nor there. In short, while finding a woman was all too easy, dating was hard. But that wasn’t about to stop me from trying with Rita.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children. Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

✯Blog Tour Review✯Piece of Work by Staci Hart

POW-BlogTour.jpg

Piece of Work, an all-new sexy and hilarious romance from Staci Hart, is available NOW!

cover-wrap-380.jpg
Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum.
His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim.
You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me know.
But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.
And maybe my heart.

✯✯4 Full Pieced Stars!!!✯✯

Staci Hart is magic!! Her writing sucks me in with every book she writes. Piece of Work was no different. And, like her previous books Staci does her homework to get her facts straight.

Rin has gotten an internship at the Met. She’s worked hard to get it and she’s gotten the references from some important people. Rin hopes she can go and make everyone proud.

Rin is of mixed heritage and being half Korean she’s extremely tall. But, she’s use to being invisible to those around her and Rin’s perfectly OK with that. Until she walks into the Met and both the curator Court and his evil assistant Bianca throw her a look of disgust ESP Bianca.

Rin tries to not let the looks bother her. But, when a misunderstanding with Bianca happens, Rin’s not sure she can do this. Luckily for her she’s got the best friends/roommates in the world. They take her clothes shopping at a place that specializes for tall women with her body type. Rin puts on her new clothes and the bright bold red  lipstick on that their weekly waitress insists every woman should have and heads to work. Rin was totally unprepared for what happened next. But, she did know she was tired of being invisible and was ready to be seen and heard.

Court is the curator of the Met and he takes his job seriously. He’s been working on the upcoming exhibit for months now. The only thing that’s missing is Michelangelo’s David. The curator at the museum he’s at in Italy is making it difficult for him to get him for the duration of the exhibit.

When Bianca didn’t give the intern proper, clear instructions he was mad at first. Then, he looked it over and he was impressed at what she looked up and gave him ideas he didn’t think of before.

Court plans of sitting down with the intern (who he cant remember her name) when she comes in. But, when she came in he was shocked. She was dressed differently and her red lips. As drawn to her as he was Court had one rule in his life. No coworkers! He’d been burned bad before and he’ll never do that again.

Court plans of having Rin do certain research and they discuss it before days end. Court tells himself it’s just business but deep down he knows Rin is different. But, when he accuses her of using him for her gain, she flips. Proving his first instinct right. Then, he kisses her and regrets it and runs away.

The more time Court and Rin spend together the harder it is for them both to keep their feelings straight and minds on track. Court’s back and forth thinking/acting is messing them both up. When they both have to go to Italy things definitely change.  But, when they comeback that’s when things can get complicated. ESP when Court’s boss, his father is always out to ruin him by trying to prove crazy things.

I couldn’t put this down! One minute I wanted to smack Court and then the next wanted to strip him down and let him take me anyway he wanted. And, Rin I adored! I loved watching her go from a shy, timid girl who was afraid to speak and only spoke when spoken too and then who she became. She turned into this fierce woman, somebody who stopped letting people walk all over her. She was fantastic!

I’m hoping and praying Staci gives Rin’s friends their own stories. Because, these girls deserve their own HEA like they helped Rin get.

Excerpt:
He smirked and flipped up his sunglasses. Bastard. “You’re early,” I clipped. “I would have had my assistant text you, but she’s currently bedridden.” You could have texted me.” “I didn’t have your number,” he said simply. “Oh.” His eyes shifted to look behind me, and I turned to find my friends standing me in a row with my suitcase in front of them, my messenger bag on top, and fake smiles on all their faces, lips together, their judgment about as quiet as a foghorn. “These your roommates?” “Yup,” was all I said as I turned and took my suitcase, hugging each of them down the line with promises to text when we landed. And then I turned to Court, rolling my suitcase in front of me like like a riot shield. I tried to pick it up to carry it over the threshold, but it was heavy, and before I could get far, he’d swept it out of my hands like it was a loaf of bread and not fifty pounds of mascara and shoes. I waved at my friends, who offered encouraging smiles and hand gestures, and I closed that door, immediately regretting every decision I’d made to bring me to the moment I turned around. He stood at the door to the backseat, holding it open for me like a gentleman, which I knew he was not. But the look on his face of regret and deference, under the hard shell of his brooding, was almost too much to bear. So I did the only thing I could. I ignored him. I ignored his gorgeous lips as they tilted and the sleek cut of his jaw as I walked past him. I ignored the sight of his long legs as he climbed in next to me and the smell of him that made me want to grab him by the lapels of his jacket and bury my nose in his chest. The driver took off, and I busied myself in my bag, looking for my headphones and book. His eyes were on me. I pretended like I didn’t notice. “You’re not wearing lipstick,” he stated. Headphones, headphones, headphones. “It’s an international flight, Court. Of course I’m not wearing red lipstick for a ten hour flight.” A pause. “Rin, I—” Aha! I popped in my earbuds the second they were in hand. His lips flattened, his face unamused. Rin, his lips said, but I smiled and shrugged, pointing to my ears. “Noise canceling,” I said way too loud. His chest rose and fell with a sigh I couldn’t hear—I’d already turned on music, a playlist we’d built the night before geared toward resisting douchery and unwanted-slash-totally-wanted advances—and he reached into his own bag, a leather affair at his feet, his hand disappearing into the bag and reappearing with a book, which he handed to me. He watched me with his expression shrouded as I paused, my eyes on the offered book. An image of Penitent Magdalene by Tintoretto filled the cover, and I met his eyes, pulling my earbuds out by the cord. “I thought you could use this. For your proposal,” he said, giving nothing away. “I…A colleague of mine wrote it, so if you have any questions, I can connect you. If you want.” I took it from his hand, surprised and disarmed. “Thank you,” was all I said. He opened his mouth as if to speak again, but closed it, and with a nod, he reached back into his bag for his own book. Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake. I put my earbuds back in place, trying not to bite my lip, but it found its way between my teeth despite the effort at the sight of him sitting there, dressed like that, reading Margaret Atwood. After giving me a thoughtful gift, a book he knew I would want, one I would need for my dissertation. Court Lyons made about as much sense to me as a scrambled up Rubik’s Cube.   I leaned against the door as I flipped through his gift, doing my best to sort through the rush of questions and confusion as Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sang about being cheated by the opposite of love. And I found I knew exactly the feeling.

She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.   From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. Synopsis

Never in a million years did Sage Garcia think she would be spending her three-day weekend at The Last Resort Motel with the man she swore off years ago. When he opens the door and finds Sage on the other side, he’s anything but disappointed. Too bad he can’t say the same about her. I’ve been a huge fan of D. Kelly since her first book. And, even though I’d wish this was a full length and not a novella I’ll totally take it!!! I loved both Baxter and Sage in The Evolution of Us and glad to get more from them. My fingers are crossed for a book for Baxter still.

Sage is a busy lawyer and rarely gets time off. But, she’s gotten a rare three day weekend off and hoping to relax. Then, her best friend Baxter calls begging for a favor. A huge, name your first born after me favor.

Sage drives 10 plus hours to Nevada to a run down hotel room 13 and she’s shocked to find out the friend Baxter needs to get for him is none other then Gabriel Ross. The one and only guy Sage ever loved and the guy who left her without a word and ruined her for any guy who’d come next.

Gabe has only loved Sage. He didn’t choose to leave her willingly. But, when he did he lost both Sage and his cousin Baxter. He misses his cousin Baxter and truly is ready to tell him the truth about what happened all those years ago and hopes he can tell Sage and pray she’d understand, forgive and they can move forward together.

So, Gabe figures he’d get Baxter to the hotel where he’s helping his friend Max and Aurora for the weekend. He wants them to work at the hotel for the 3 days and start over.

When he opens the door to his hotel room, he’s shocked to see Sage there. It’s obvious she didn’t know she was there for him. But, he doesn’t care. Gabe gets Sage to agree to stay and help him run the midnight shift. He plans on telling Sage everything and holding nothing back. He’s just hoping she’ll understand and not hate him. Sage might hate Gabe but he’s always held her heart. She’s open to the weekend and seeing what happens but Gabe’s not sure what Sage will do when she finds out the truth.

This couple I need and want more from. They’re great!! This really was a second chance romance all the way. I also loved Aurora and Max and plan on going back to their story. Let’s not forget Agnes!!! I’m hoping D. Kelly gives Baxter a book and he’s friendly with Agnes bc their little interactions had me lol they were so funny. Good job Dee!!!

✯Release Review w/Giveaway✯Checkmate: This is Effortless(The Checkmate Duet #4) by Kennedy Fox

Title: Checkmate: This is Effortless
Series: Checkmate Duet Series (Drew & Courtney, #2)
Author: Kennedy Fox
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Trope: Friends to Lovers
Photographer & Designer: Sara Eirew
Release Date: April 25, 2017

Introducing book 2 in the new Checkmate Duet Series from a secret duo of romance authors who teamed up under the USA Today Bestselling pseudonym, Kennedy Fox! This friends to lovers romance will have you swooning and laughing from the first to the last page! Are you ready to play the game?
Courtney Bishop is as sugary sweet as her famous blueberry muffins.
Southern belle at heart, Cali girl by choice.
She barged into my life and easily became my best friend.
All was great as roommates and just friends, but then I fell for the girl who could chop firewood, deliver baby calves, and bail hay without breaking a sweat.
She’s the perfect mixture of sugar and spice, and I love her.
Being more than friends and trying to build our future isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Moving forward and creating memories is all I want for us, but when the past continues to come back and haunt me, I’m not so sure she’ll stay for the ride.
Loving her is easy, but losing her will break me. Burning passion combined with an undeniable chemistry constantly pushes and pulls us together. In the end, I’ll prove we’re worth the fight, even when the game is far from over.
Checkmate, sweetheart.
*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*
**This is book 2 in the Checkmate Duet Series–a friends to lovers romance. You must read book 1, Checkmate: This is Reckless first. Highly recommended to read the Checkmate Duet, This is War and This is Love first, but not necessary. This can read as a standalone duet.**

✯4 Amazing Stars!!!

Man, I wish I knew the 2 authors who make up Kennedy Fox!! This is the 4th book in this series. But, its the second and final book for Drew & Courtney's story. You MUST read their first book. And, if I were you I'd read Travis and Viola's story too.

We pick up right where we've left off. Mia has crashed Drew and Courtney's vacation. When she's broken into their hotel room and has finally showed the fact that there's something seriously wrong with her. For the first time Drew's eyes are open to who she really is.

Drew never expected to fall in love with Courtney. He was blind to what was in front of him for years. But, his eyes have opened and his heart has been filled with Courtney. She's his soulmate and Drew will do whatever is possible to keep Courtney safe. He wants a life with Courtney and he won't let Mia do anything to stop that.

Courtney has been in love with Drew since day #1. She never thought he'd see her as more then his younger sisters annoying friend. Then they became roommates/best friends. But, now that Drew has finally seen her as more then that Courtney won't let Mia or anybody take him away from her. No matter how much gets thrown at them, Courtney won't let them break her or them.

I absolutely love Drew and Courtney. Their chemistry is so super hot and over the top. They are such good friends that it makes their relationship work that much more. Drew is protective over the people he loves and cares about. And, Courtney will do anything for the people she loves.

We got more of Travis, Viola, Logan and Kayla. Their interactions had me lol every time. And, umm can we talk about Courtney's brothers... They need to have their stories told. I'm just saying. Kennedy Fox are fantastic and I can not wait to get Logan and Kayla's story next!!
