✯Release Review✯The Sacrifice (The 4 Horsemen #3) by Elena Monroe

Title: The Sacrifice
Series: The 4Horsemen #3
Author: Elena Monroe

Genre: Dark Forbidden Romance
Release Date: February 4, 2021

BLURB

KHAOS
I’m not living under any kind of false pretenses here. I know I’m basically a rapper’s attitude with R&B feelings and a pop star’s bank account.
There were a lot of ways to describe my unconventional lifestyle of part time cult member and full time showman.
Risk taker.
Exuberant.
And my personal favorite adjective: undomesticated.
I surrounded myself with people who liked a good time but left after they served their purpose of making sure I felt nothing but top shelf feelings.
I wasn’t about to be like my brothers who let the darkness eat away at their vindication. The only crime I had ever committed was waving the glory of being invited, of saying I came and conquered around like a badge of honor.
Spoiler alert: None of that earned me respect.
There’s only one girl who managed to rob me of my fake smile...and my watch.

GRACE
I was a throw away, street trash, a child abandoned and scooped up by the bad people you only hear about after they get caught.
I was hard in a way people found uncomfortable and determined too much work to rehabilitate into society again. I was found guilty over and over enough to let the bad things become who I am, blurring the lines between freedom and a jail sentence.
Fraud.
Thief.
And my least favorite: fake girlfriend to a scary ass kingpin.
Forced out of a childhood I was surrounded by darkness, evil, and the kind of cutthroat loyalty that landed your body so mutilated they wouldn’t be able to tell who you were if you fell out of obedience.
They accepted me like family and there’s no quitting your family.
I had the respect to match my rap sheet.
There’s only one guy who managed to exonerate me… and my invisible wings.

✯✯5 Romeo & Juliet Filled Stars!!✯✯

Elena Monroe is three for three for me!! This is the 3rd book of hers that I’ve read and I promise you I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!!

In the previous 2 book’s Khaos is the Happy go lucky one outta the 4Horseman. He’s got a skate ramp in both his office and backyard. You have to pick a hand and you’re either getting a starburst or a riddle. You never know with Khaos.

We learn Khaos isn’t what meets the eye. He’s definitely putting up a front so nobody will know what scars he’s hiding behind.

After his high school girlfriend who crushed his heart he won’t let himself fall and get hurt all over again. It’s why he has 25 girlfriend’s on retainer. One for every letter of the alphabet with the exception of G.

When Birdy walked into Khaos’s life his world started to spin off its axis. Khaos has lived by his own rules for so long and never wanted to change. Birdy is making it where he’s breaking all his own rules and he isn’t even sorry about it.

Grace AKA Birdy hasn’t had an easy life. Going from group home to group home. She ended up living on the streets and started pick pocketing to earn cash to survive.

Birdy ended up in juvenile detention until Dove got her out Bc her stealing abilities was something he wanted to use that for himself.

Dove didn’t have an issue laying his hands on Birdy when he didn’t get what he wanted outta her. Whenever he got to ruff she’d go to her friend Justice and her husband Vic.

Birdy was just given a new target by Dove. Khaos. Dove wasn’t expecting Birdy to fall for Khaos and to not do her job to to his standard’s.

Birdy can’t help herself. Khaos makes her feel thing’s she’s never felt in her entire life. Birdy will do anything to save Khaos from Dove.

Khaos is in a cult and Birdy’s in a gang. These two shouldn’t work but they really do and will fight other’s and their inner demons in order to keep the other safe and to stay together.

There wasn’t much cult ad the first two book’s but it was just as good!! My heart hurt Khaos with him and his anxiety and panic attack’s. The same with Birdy dealing with the beating’s she received. These two are everything.

I’m SO looking forward to Bowen’s story next!!!

EXCERPT

“You don’t know me. You’ve never known me because you chalked me up to be some useless brat you constantly fix mistakes for. I let you all define me. I’ve always just been whatever the fuck you all needed: funny Khaos, quiet Khaos, the Khaos that pushes you right into love when you’re too fucking blind. You don’t see how much she means to me because you don’t fucking see me. No one sees me except her.” My fingers were fisting the material so hard I wondered if I ripped his shirt when he cracked a smile.
His smirk bothered me instantly when he said, “I was testing a theory. Either way you’re becoming a blood donor tonight.”
Letting go of his shirt, I slumped down in the chair still riddled with anxiety and anger. I let myself fold over trying to get centered even though this wasn’t my adult tree house or a bathroom floor like I preferred.
“You’re a fucking psychopath.”
Vic folded his arms over his broad chest, “I had to make sure she meant something and wasn’t just part of your fucking antics... she’s a good person, not part of your fucking reverse harem plot.” A small pause between thoughts he spoke again, “Clave knows that video exists even though we buried it by giving Rodriguez a raid. She's the new price of you missing an event, dumbass. That’s DuPonte’s only rule and you broke it.”
He wasn’t wrong. The Clave doesn’t do well with broken rules and if you’re lucky enough to survive the punishment then it means you lost crucial parts of your life.
Loved ones mostly.
Considering I was the most unattached, the Clave would find a way to hurt me and being caught on tape with the girl I love was as good as me forking over the truth on a silver platter for them.
Hurt me here, please.
We both joked around the idea of us being forbidden because of who we belong to but nothing was more honest.
Star crossed lovers doomed by our loyalties.
“What do you want me to do, Vic? Get on my knees and beg you to make it better? Keep smiling because it’s easier for you guys? I fucked up but I can clean up after myself.”

Elena Monroe grew up in Florida scribbling down stories from a very young age. These stories were really just wavy lines filling the paper, but she knew each word, each emotion, each character's name, and there was no tricking her into forgetting what each line signified. ✯Release Review✯ Far from Lost (Far Series #3) by Kate L. Mary

Title: Far from Lost
Author: Kate L Mary
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic
Publisher: Twisted Press
Publication Date: December 7th, 2020
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb:

How far would you go to save what you thought you’d lost during the apocalypse?

After learning her father is alive, going with Heath had seemed like a no-brainer to Rowan. Her dad was all she had left, after all. The only remaining piece of the life she’d loved so much. But their reunion doesn’t go quite the way she expected it to, and Rowan finds herself alone and uncertain, making her wish she’d taken the time to think things through before making a decision that might cost her so much.

Kiaya has always been logical and resourceful, and she’s confident if she and Devon work together, they’ll be able to figure out a way to get Rowan back. But there’s trouble brewing in the group, making Kiaya question who she can trust. Even worse, she can’t help wondering if staying at the school is the right decision at all.

Between the zombies walking the earth, the wildfire that shows no signs of stopping, and dangerous survivors lurking both in town and in their very own halls, it feels like the whole world is out to get them. Still, Kiaya is determined to not only save Rowan, but to also figure out a way to keep everyone she cares about safe.

✯✯5 Rowan & Kiaya Filled Stars!✯✯

Wow finally!!!
Far from Safe ended with a cliffhanger that had me cursing at the author. That’s not new bc she likes to end things with you on the edge of your seat and looking for the next book to release.

We legit pick up in the same place that we left off but..... I love the author gives you the last book two recap from Kiaya’s POV!!! I’d been wanting inside her and Devon’s mind since the very beginning.

Rowan has been taken by Heath and his goons and they’re headed back to the hospital when Rowan’s dad is. Kiaya, Devon and Gabe are headed back to the school. Both Rowan and Kiaya are wondering wtf is next.

Rowan is known for acting on her emotions and not thinking ahead and getting her and her friends into situations that end with them fighting for their lives and this is no different. But, this time Rowan realizes she needs to stop doing that and she needs to start thinking things thru more carefully and logically like Kiaya.

Getting to the hospital Rowan sees their setup is amazing but Heath is running it like it’s his way or the highway. Instead of being allowed to see her father she’s getting a shock collar put on her neck and put into a room for probation.

Rowan won’t tell Heath where Gabe and her friends are staying. She sees death and revenge in his eyes and she won’t be a part of it. Regardless of the world they’re living in.

Kiaya and Devon must think of a way to get Rowan back. Kiaya knows it won’t be easy since Gabe doesn’t listen very well to what she has to say.

When Lane gets hurt Kiaya knows she’s gotta take her to the hospital. Gabe doesn’t think it’s a good idea since Lane’s ex is Heath and he wants both Lane and Gabe dead.

But, if they could get Lane help and get closer to getting Rowan back with them that’s a chance everyone is willing to take.

This book was mind blowing!! Kiaya, Rowan, Devon and the rest of their group didn’t have to fight as many zombies as the first two books but don’t be mistaken. In this new world where they’re surrounded by zombies and there’s no cops people are acting out and there’s nobody to stop them.

These friends will do everything to get back together but what happens when they realize they’ve been traveling with a monster this entire time. Plus they know they’ve made enemies that aren’t going to just disappear. ESP in this new world.

This is one storyline and characters I’m loving and that I not only want more but I need more of so Kate L Mary I need you to hurry up asks write the next part of their story.

✯Release Review✯ Reclaim by Aly Martinez

Reclaim, an all-new extremely raw and moving second chance romance from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez is available now!

Choices. Everyone makes them. From mundane to unimaginable, one choice can change the trajectory of your entire life.

My mother’s choice was to abandon us with our abusive father.
My brother’s choice was to go to prison for killing the boy who assaulted his soulmate.
Camden Cole’s choice was to fall in love with a shattered girl who had absolutely nothing to offer him but heartbreak.

It was one summer beneath the trees, but with Camden, I had a place where I belonged.
A friend who was always waiting for me.
A boy who I caught staring at me more often than not.

He was mine, but when the world closed in and secrets exploded all around us, it was my choice to let him go.

Choices. Everyone makes them.
But mine would ruin us all.

✯✯5 Camden Freaking Cole Filled Stars!!✯✯

Eek!! I’ve wanted Nora’s story ever since I read
Release. I was starting to think we’d never get it. But, Aly it was 100000% worth the wait. Yes, this is a stand-alone but I’d really read Release first.

Nora’s mom ran off and left her alone with her brother and their drunk, abusive father. They pick up jobs and save their money so they can have food in their stomachs and hope their dad doesn’t find the food and eat it himself.

Nora found a job for the summer. She will collect worms everyday and turn them in to her neighbor and she’s hoping & praying she can make enough to be able to save money for her and Ramsey.

The first day down at the creek she meets Camden Cole. The minute she sees his clothes, his penny loafers and bucket of worms Nora instantly doesn’t like him and she lets him know about it lol.

Camden let’s Nora know that he was hired to collect worms and  has come up with a plan to collect worms and enjoy his summer and he wants them to partner up.

At first Nora hate’s Camden Freaking Cole but they become best friends that summer. Everyday sneaking a ten dollar bill back-n-forth between them lol.

Neither one of them want the summer to end bc the Camden has to go home. Then they’ll both go back to being alone. The last night they were supposed to hang out before he left Nora spent all night waiting for him at the Creek and he never showed up.

Camden never wanted to leave Nora. When he got in trouble and had to leave early it killed him. He spent the whole school year doing anything he could to get on his dads good side in order for him to agree to let Camden go to his grandparents house for the summer.

Camden ran to the creek the minute he got back. Camden knew he got taller this past year but Nora didn’t look the same. She was even more beautiful them last summer and still just as angry and feisty.

Just as Camden started thawing Nora’s cold shoulder and they agreed to meet back up but it never happened. Nora stopped coming to the creek.

Camden thought Nora’s father did something but it was worse then Camden ever would’ve guessed. Both of their lives were changed that summer.

These two went a decade of coming in and out of each other’s lives when they needed each other. It never mattered how much time spent apart they picked up right where they left off.

They were madly in love with each other. But, time was never in their favor.

Nora wanted to be the perfect girl for Camden.  She keeps trying to be. Camden just wanted Nora for Nora. While she was working to improve herself, Camden will continue supporting her the best he can and go to school and make something of himself and help those who need it.

This book was everything I’d ever could’ve hoped for and more!!! Aly hit another grand slam in my opinion and I’m looking forward to her next release.

✯Release Review✯ Perfectly Thin by Margaret McHeyzer

Title: Perfectly Thin
Author: Margaret McHeyzer
Genre: YA/NA Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 19, 2020

BLURB

When I’m thinner, no one will make fun of me
When I’m thinner, I’ll be accepted
When I’m thinner, I’ll be beautiful
When I’m thinner, I’ll be happy
When I’m thinner, I’ll be loved, and adored
When I’m thinner, I’ll like myself
I can’t wait until I’m perfectly thin.

✯✯5 Unperfect Stars!!!✯✯

Margaret is seriously one of my favorite authors!! She writes books that hit you deep down in your gut. Her books aren’t all rainbows and butterflies. Nope her butterflies usually have one wing that’s bent and even though they’re still beautiful, they’re flying in a circle or just all over the place.  Almost every book that she’s released I have seen pieces of myself in every main female character and Perfectly Thin was no different.

Jane’s in her senior year of high school and her eighteenth birthday is rapidly approaching. Jane is very close with her parents, grandparents, her 2 best friends and is as close as possible with her 2 older sisters as much as possible.

Jane isn’t one of the popular girls in school but as long as she has her two best friends she’s good. She’s never been super skinny like her sisters or her besties. Unfortunately for Jane the mean girls and guys target Jane every single chance they get.

Jane has been exercising and watching what she’s been eating and it’s showing. She’s lost some weight and looks great. When one of the popular guys asks her out on a date she is shocked but agrees.

Jane was really looking forward to going and having a good time. What should’ve been a great night turned into the worst night of Jane’s life. When Jane was left after being called a something and not a someone it gutted Jane.

Jane went on a mission of her own. She was going to prove to the meanies in school, her sister and everybody else who stares at her when she walks by.  Jane googles exercises and different foods and their calorie count. Then writes down an exercise and food plan and is strict on herself.

Jane is hard on herself. Harder than anybody else.  Jane has the voices on the inside of her head talking, yelling and reminding her of things all day. Loosing weight starts to become an addiction to Jane and not a good addiction. No matter what anybody says to Jane she’s not listening and it might just kill her if she doesn’t start to listen.

My whole life I’ve struggled with my weight. My weight 100% gone up and down my entire life and I don’t ever see that not being an issue. I myself have voices that talk to me whenever I look in the mirror or buying new clothes.  I’ve   also been bullied in school a bunch of times as well.

I totally understood Jane’s feelings and the urge to loose the weight. But, the

more the story went the more I worried for Jane and for her health.

Margaret definitely did her research on anorexia and everything that a person goes thru while struggling through the daily and while trying to overcome it. Perfectly Thin is in my top favorite reads this year. I’m looking forward to Margaret McHeyzer’s next release.

AUTHOR BIO

STRONG, BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS CHARACTERS.

**Write something worth reading**

I'm Margaret and I'm a self-published author.

Recently I was fortunate in obtaining New York Times best-selling status on my YA/NA book - Ugly, and my YA book - Mistrust.
My last six books have been YA and I'm completely in love with the genre. I love being able to communicate with people through my words and stories.
My writing genres all differ, but the one thing I keep consistent is my heroines. All my female lead characters are strong, gutsy and not the 'perfect' woman. While my books all have romantic elements in them, they aren't just about the romance. They're about finding strength, acceptance and making life long connections.
I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I have while writing them.

✯Release Review✯Far from Safe (Far Series, #2) by Kate L. Mary

Title: Far from Safe
Author: Kate L Mary
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic
Publisher: Twisted Press
Publication Date: August 7th, 2020
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
After traveling the country in hopes of reaching the sanctuary of home, Rowan finds herself in a world turned upside down. Too bad the extinction of civilization hasn’t erased the complications of everyday life. Between learning to survive in a world overtaken by the dead and struggling to work through her grief over losing everything, Rowan must navigate her growing attraction for Devon, as well as deal with her suspicion that something isn’t right with some of their fellow survivors.
Just when she thinks she has a hold on the emotional rollercoaster of this new world, someone from her past makes a surprise – and unwanted – reentry into her life, bringing with them a seed of hope that threatens to once again flip everything upside down.

✯✯5 Unsafe Action Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Well, Kate L. Mary you’ve done it to me again!! I’m sitting here again speechless after finishing Far From Safe. I thought I was speechless when Far From Home ended but I was even more so mind blown this time around.

If you haven’t read Far From Home then stop and go back and read it before you open this book. This isn’t a standalone and can’t be as one!!

We pick up exactly where we left off. Rowan has finally made it home and in time to see her poor mom walking down the block with the rest of the neighbors who’ve all passed and are now zombies. With no word from her father in weeks, Rowan is positive he passed away while working at the hospital. She’s lost her parents and is devastated but she must keep going or she won’t make it.

Rowan, Devon, Kiaya, Lisa and Buck must figure out what’s next for them. Bc, it’s not just themselves they gotta look out for. As much as Rowan wants to stay locked up in her childhood home and hide, they’re running low on supplies and not hidden away safely and there’s zombies surrounding them.

The group comes up with a good starting plan. Check out Rowan’s neighbors houses for two things 1-survivors and 2-supplies. Grab as much as possible that they can use. Then, head to the stores and stock up on everything else. Afterwards, they gotta figure out where they can go to that’ll keep their group together and safe. Rowan has one other thing on her list of things to do: bury her mom but she’s keeping that to herself for now.

Things definitely aren’t easy in times like this. You gotta be on guard 110% of the time.  BC, at any minute a zombie can pop up outta nowhere and attack. Then there’s the chance you bump into somebody who’s not dead but they’re far from a good person.

While out on a supply run they come across zombies but when they do bump into humans Rowan was shocked she knew one of the living. It was her ex Doug and Rowan definitely wasn’t happy to see him. She was glad he wasn’t dead but didn’t wanna see him lol.

When Doug and his crew invite Rowan and her friends to join them at the school they’re at none of them are totally sure it’s the right decision. They know it’s safer then where they’re at now. When they get there they’re even more unsure them before. Before they can really figure out their next choice they find themselves in real trouble and Rowan throws herself head first into the lions den with some dangerous lions.

I felt so many emotions reading this. My heart pounded so many times. I kept hoping and praying nothing happened to Rowan, Devon, Kiaya and Lisa every time they left the house.

Miller is still a tool. He’s a complete jerk and my gut is telling me he’s lying about who he really is. Never really had an issue with Hank before but now I’m getting creeper vibes of him.

I liked Buck from the beginning. But, now he’s showing another side to him and I wasn’t sure how it was gunna turn into. When he told Rowan his story and what made him into what he was OMG I was laying in bed crying and feeling for him and didn’t blame him.

Now we have Doug back in Rowan’s life. I totally 100% understood why she felt the way she did towards him. Shoot I have some ex’s who have done me wrong so I get it. I don’t know how it’s gunna be with him yet. But, he seems like a good guy. He proved himself with a few things so far that chipped a few notches in his favor.

When I read Rowan’s moms letter I was legit bawling right along next to Rowan. I don’t know  if I would’ve survived after reading a letter like that from my mom. I’m just saying.

I’m excited for the next book after the explosive cliffhanging ending!! I’m gunna need Devon and Doug to man up, team together and put their heads together and get Rowan outta the horrible mess she got herself into. Please guys!!
