✯✯5 Maddock Size Stars!!!✯✯

This is my first book by Kathleen Kelly and not my last. I’ve had her on my TBR and just haven’t gotten around to them and can legit kick my own ass for not reading them yet.

Maddock has a good job and a great family. There’s five brothers and a sister who’re totally different yet still very close. Ever hear of being too good at your job? Yup, being too good at his job cost Maddock everything. His life and his family.

It’s been three years since that horrible morning. Maddock AKA Eric is living in a small town. He’s the town mechanic and he’s barely living. He doesn’t have friends, no girlfriend, no contact with his family. He spends his days going to work and coming home.

When a grouchy customer gets under his skin he puts himself out there. With the customer in the hospital Eric brings the car he wants rebuilt for his granddaughter back to the customers farm and works on the car and takes care of his animals until he gets out of the hospital. He can tell the car means a lot to the guy, so he’ll do whatever he can to get it fixed. It keeps his mind busy and off of his siblings. Until the guys granddaughter comes around and Eric’s knocked off his game. He’s stayed low for years. But, one interaction with Cherie and he realizes she just might ruin him.

The only guy that’s ever been there for Cherie has been her granddaddy. He’s the only reason why she’s comeback to this small town where she grew up at. Cherie heads to her grab daddy’s place and runs into the finest, sexiest guy she’s ever seen in her entire life. Against her better judgement she asks him out as a thank you for helping her granddaddy.

They start to spend time together and even though Cherie can tell Eric is hiding things from her, he treats her better than everybody ever has with the exception of her granddaddy.

When somebody tries to kidnap her and takes Eric she knows somethings up. Then, she meets his brothers and learns things that should have her running far away. Instead it has her going with them to get Eric or should she say Maddock.

Cherie didn’t have an easy life with her parents and the town folks. She doesn’t let them bring her down. She’s a strong woman. Cherie is the perfect woman for Eric/Maddock.

Eric/Maddock never wanted any of this to happen. Trying to do the right thing ended up hurting and gutting not only him but his family. He never wanted to find love. But, Cherie walked into his life and knocked him off his feet.  Cherie’s going to be the one that makes him want to fight back to get his life back. When he’s got his brothers backing him up and Cherie next to him, he’s ready to fight for his life back.

I opened this book. Sat outside under the tree and couldn’t put it down. I was addicted. The storyline, the main characters and the MacKenny brothers had me reading page after page. And, that ending!!! I need the next book NOW Kathleen.

Man, I’m glad I read this and didn’t add to my TBR list. Kathleen gave us a book with an amazing storyline, characters, side characters. It had everything I look for in a great book. I ESP loved how these brothers even though they are different. They believe in their family bond and it means everything to them. It was my favorite part of the storyline.

✯Review✯Indelible (New Life #5) by Samantha Jacobey

Synopsis:

Indelible - Book 5 of A New Life Series

What do you do if you discover the life you’re living isn’t the one you were meant to have?

Tori Farrell’s path has been a long one. She was raised by a Motorcycle Gang called the Dragons, trained as an assassin, and lived by the sword in a world consisting of drugs, sex, violence and murder. She made her escape, and even successfully thwarted a second attempt to draw her back in.

Returning to her safe new life, Tori faces unforeseen challenges, as the discovery of her Rock Star relation, Brian Madson, gives way to the desire to have the life she was born to live. Haunted by fear, and caught in a fierce battle between her husband and brother, she must learn to accept her dark past and face her future boldly. The FBI and The Organization still linger in the shadows, and time is creeping forward, pushing her to choose. Which path will she take, and where will it lead, when she is forced to decide between destiny and fate…

✯✯4 Indelible Stars!!!✯✯

This is the 5th book in this series. This is not a standalone and must be read in order! I did like this book the best so far. It was different from the first 4. I think some of the decisions Tori made at the end were stupid and reckless. But, I guess when you're raised by a motorcycle gang that tends to happen.

Tori is FINALLY home!! Both Tori and Michael couldn't be happier then to be in the arms of the person they love the most. Brian is glad to have his sister back. Except the feeling isn't mutual. Tori wants her brother gone. Michael talks Tori into letting her brother stay for  a month. Tori agrees bc she really doesn't have a choice.

Brian stays in Texas with Tori and Michael, while the rest of the band heads back to New Jersey. While Tori and Brian try and get to know each other. Michael continues to fix up the house for him and Tori. Tori and Brian start to get to know each other more and more. Tori is teaching him about motorcycles. Brian starts teaching her more about music. Brian learns real quick she's not that bad. She needs more lessons. Tori is really enjoying the whole brother/sister thing. It's her marriage she's having issues with.

Michael owns Tori heart. But, Tori's having a problem going from the Dragons back into everyday life. Tori is missing something. She's not missing the alcohol or the fighting or the killing. Tori is missing what Brett and Enrique gave her. The sex. As much as she loves what her and Michael have. But, Michael will never get as down right raunchy and nasty that Enrique gets. Michael can sense that something isn't 100% right with Tori. But, he'll never push her to talk about something that she's not ready to talk about.

Michael is not only worried about him and Tori's issues, Michael has sat back and watched Tori and Brian as well. Brian can see his sister doesn't belong in Texas with Michael living the quiet life. Brian plans on going back to New Jersey. But, not without Tori. He knows she belongs on stage next to him. Unfortunately, his brother-in-law doesn't agree. At all!! Michael keeps trying to get Brian to see the big picture. Tori's been through a lot in her life. The FBI is still holding out. But, with proof that Brian IS her biological brother. That is the the way to get her emancipated. But, Tori needs stability and running off with Brian to be in the Indelible's wouldn't be good for her. Tori can sense the tension between her husband and brother. And, it's killing her.

Tori decides to stay behind her husband. Brian goes back to New Jersey and they promise to meet soon. Tori starts going to the house with Michael. She learns quick that Marge is sick. Tori starts going over there and helping Michael fix things up while helping Marge. Just when things are starting to fall into place for Tori and Michael they get a phone call. Brian and the rest of the guys were in a car accident and they need to get to Brian.

Tori insists on staying with Brian until he's healed 100%. Michael agrees but he'll follow Tori anywhere. Brian uses this time that Tori is here to take care of him to his advantage. Brian and Tori start playing music together more and more. The more they do that the more and more Michael gets mad. Michael and Brian can not agree on whats best for Tori. Tori is stuck between the 2 guys she loves the most in her life. Her family. Her husband. Her brother. Tori has 2 choices. Does she join Brian and become the newest member of Indelible? Or...Does she do what Michael wants. Go back home to Texas with Michael finish fixing up their house, and try to start a family. Michael lets her know either way he'll be by her side.

I really loved how much Tori grew in this book. Tori always try to do whats right for everyone. Even though she got all her memories back of her childhood with Brian and  their parents. Also, took the extra step to figure out if and how if possible to be able to have a family of her own with Michael. She was good at dealing with Brian and Michael. I hated how the Organization is still out there and possibly still a threat. It killed me that even with them still around Brian was trying to talk her into throwing her into the spotlight so the whole world can see her. Pure stupidity!!! And, Michael. I want Michael!!! He's the perfect man. I wish I could find a man to love and worship me the way he did Tori. Poor guy always get the crap end of every deal. Even though Tori loved him with everything. She has no idea how to express how she's feeling. The good, bad or ugly she can't get it into the right words and it always makes matters worse. There's still not enough dialogue. But, I am looking forward to the next part of Tori, Michael, Brian and everyone else's story!!

☆Blog Tour Review w/Giveaway☆Captive (New Life #1) by Samantha Jacobey

Captive A New Life Novel
By Samantha Jacobey

Captive - A New Life Novel… To what lengths would you go to break away from a life filled with pain and suffering?

Tori Farrell has lived a dangerous life. When you grow up with a Motorcycle Gang of Mercenaries and Drug Lords like the Dragons, a normal life is more like a fairy tale. For years, she accepted her dark reality, a world consisting of drugs, sex, violence and murder. In the end, she learned the most valuable lesson: survival.

After years of being ruled by the Dragons, Tori uses her skills of seduction and assassination to free herself from the grasp of the people who vowed they would never let her go. Taken in by the FBI, she fears not everything is what it seems, and soon finds herself lost in a web of lies and deceit. She thought getting away from the Dragons would put her on a path to a new and better life, but now she must face the cold hard truth… there is always a price to be paid.

   ☆☆3.5 Captivating Stars!!☆☆

Where do I begin? I was so intrigued when I read the synopsis for this book. For some reason the darker the book the more into it I am. While this book is definitely dark & twisted on multiple levels. Even with all the stuff I like. I was still very disappointed with this book. The main reason why is because it's in the 3rd person. And, it did bounce back & forth from past to present. But, I'd say 90-95% had no conversation. There was very little dialectic. It made it very, very hard for me to get attached to anybody.

Tori wakes up in a hospital and has no idea how she got there. She was found in a farm house barely alive. All the guys in The Dragon MC were found dead because of Tori. How you ask. The Dragons captured her at a very young age. During her time with The Dragons she had things to do. She'd cook, clean up after them. They taught her how to read. Once Tori's body started to develop she was used for a lot of other reasons. Tori was abused, raped and tortured on  a regular basis. They also taught her how to fight and eventually taught her to become a killing machine. My heart really did break for her while reading how bad she was tortured.

Eli who works for the FBI & is in charge of finding out what Tori knows. He believes she can help solve a 3yr old case that involved his partner. Eli lets Tori know he is here to help her. Eli realizes Tori doesn't trust anybody. Doesn't like to be touched. And, that she doesn't seem to want to talk.

Tori finally decides to tell Eli everything. She feels safe with him. It's been awhile since Tori has felt safe with a man. They end up with a good relationship. He did annoy the crap out of me with how he looked, acted and thought about her. She's been held captive by a very dangerous MC Gang. Who raped & tortured her for years!!! And, he's working for the FBI and supposed to be helping and saving her. Yet, he's thinking other things?!?! Totally, totally pissed me off to no end!!

It was not a terrible book.If you like a book with hardly any conversations just back story then this is your book. It was definitely graphic in the explaining of Tori's torture. Which I liked. I'm still debating on if & when I'll read book #2.

EXCERPT 1 from CAPTIVE by Samantha Jacobey

Tori was sitting in one of the padded chairs, knees curled to her chest and arms wrapped, when Eli Founder arrived the next morning. She had been sitting for some time, watching the sunrise bring light to the lush green outside her small window.

The Dragons slept and lived outdoors routinely, and she was beginning to feel penned up being indoors for so many days now. "How was the bed?" Eli asked as he took the seat opposite of her. A blank stare was her only response, so he mumbled a simple "Well, you'll get there," and let the subject drop.

Tori lay her left cheek on her knees, watching out into the patio for several minutes. Finally, in a low voice, she inquired, "Why am I here?"

Eli shifted in his seat, wanting to be precise with his words. "You're here for evaluation, and to heal." He drew a deep breath to continue, catching himself before he spoke, and then exhaled slowly in silence.

Tori's head popped up, and she asked again in a more forceful tone, "No, I mean why am Ihere." She added emphasis to the word 'here' by reaching out with her right hand to stab the table with her index finger.

At his surprised look, she continued with the irritation clear in her voice, "I told you the knife was mine. I told you the Dragons got what they deserved. I did it. I killed them. Why am I not in a prison or a cell or something?"

Tori’s story begins with CAPTIVE

~ SAMANTHA JACOBEY ~

Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never met a stranger and take up conversations any where at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the middle of the night.
I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends as well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of course, there will be many more stories to come.

I would like to start off by saying thank you to all of the tour host who have participated in the Captive Blog Tour. Here is a interview done by Samantha Jacobey. Enjoy!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I still am not really what I would call a writer… I am a story teller. I love to share exciting adventures that have meaning and depth, and hope that my readers enjoy them. In a way, I thought that once I had put them in writing, I would be able to let go, and move on to something else, but that is not so. I still find myself dreaming about this girl and going over parts of her story over and over.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I have had this story in my head for about 25 years. It has undergone many changes and versions, and I love to experiment with ‘what if’ and ‘now what?’ The entire story is far larger than what is being published, with many disconnected pieces; who knows if any of them will ever find their way into print. The part that I am sharing is the section that is the foundation, and completes a segment – Tori’s segment. I ‘wrote it’ and put it out there because I felt like it was time to share.

Do you have a specific writing style?
I think that I do. I try to use language that is easy for most readers to understand, with a few 50-cent words thrown in. I also like to keep it fresh, and try not to repeat words or phrases too often, unless it serves a purpose, which means if I am retelling something, readers should be watching for what is different from one telling to the next. Finally, I think there needs to be a fair amount of description in the story, so my characters are grounded and not floating in space, but at the same time it is not overly so, where you get bogged down in the setting and lose interest in the action of the story.

How did you come up with the title?
My series is called A New Life – and that is exactly what is happening in the story. My heroine, Tori Farrell, has lived a very sad and unusual life, but that is only the beginning. The entire series is about her journey to get a ‘new’ one; a normal one more or less. The book titles have changed from my originals, which I still love, but from a marketing standpoint, they do work much better. Each title, old and new, representing what that segment is about, so it’s like the ‘theme’ of the book in a single word… CAPTIVE, BOUND, ENTWINED, EXPOSED, INDELIBLE, INTREPID and AVENGED.

What do you want your readers to get out of your novels?
My series is like that proverbial onion people always talk about… lots of layers. On the surface, you have the drama and what happened to our girl, and what actions she takes along the way. Beneath that, you get into the how and the why of things; what motivates the characters. At the deepest level, you have the human condition and what makes people who and what they are at their foundation. Not everyone will see all of these things, and I am ok with that. For those that do, this is a very rich experience, and it will move you to the core – that’s what I would like for people to get out of it, if they are ready for it.

Is the book mostly fantasy or do you think these situations could actually happen?
On some level, this is most definitely a realistic scenario, and although all of the pieces coming together in this fashion would be a stretch, each component most definitely can, does, and has happened. That being said, I made the entire thing up – there are slivers of truth woven throughout – ideas or stories that I heard about and stripped down to use some portion of, but the work as a whole is pure fantasy.

What book are you reading now?
Right now I am reading the Sage Seed Chronicles, by Holly Barbo. This is a sci-fi series, and is very imaginative; I love them. She builds an entire world, and quite believable at that.

What are your current projects?
The New Life Series is completed, and only waiting for release. Beyond that, I am researching and doing preliminary writing for my dystopian thriller that will be next.

Do you see writing as a career?
I agreed to teach one more year, so my plate is pretty full once again, with outside commitments. After this year, I will be able to dig in more fully and really throw myself into writing full time. I want it to be my career, but it won’t be my only one for a few more months at least.

Who designed the covers?
The covers are all designed by Nicolene Lorette Designs, and I love her work. Books 1 and 2 were published before, and the covers they have now are far and away more attractive.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you. Thank you for your time and support, and for sharing my work with your friends and family – it is very greatly appreciated!!!

Which comes first? The character's story, or, the idea for the novel?
I would have to say, the character came first, and I built her story around her. At least, that’s how A New Life came about. I am not sure on this next one if that is the case, as I have the idea for a situation, and am playing with who all I would find in that world. I have narrowed down a few characters, and am now exploring who they are and what they are about in the context of the story as it unfolds.

He has vowed to protect me with his life, yet he exposes me with his every breath. I should be stronger and walk away. I should disappear. But I’m terrified he would come after me. I’m on the run, determined not to take him down with me but absolutely unable to let him go. My name is Riley Peterson…at least for today.
*Among The Echoes is a stand alone novel which contains material that may be offensive to some readers. Including sexual abuse, graphic language, and adult situations. Intended for readers 18+.*

                   ✯✯5 Heart Wrenching Stars!!✯✯

"My name is Erica Hill. I used to be an emergency room physician-"

One day she was Erica, the next she was Riley. Forced to hide. To pretend. Constantly afraid. Always wondering if she'll be found. Never opening herself up to anyone. Protecting herself and everyone else.

Wow!! Aly Martinez has done it to me again!! I have loved every book she has written. Every book is better then the last. Among The Echoes was insanely awesome. It is emotional like her Wrecked and Ruined series. Except on a completely different level and for a completely different reason. There are a few authors who can write a book and I don't have to read the synopsis, because it doesn't matter to me. I say this because I know that because their name is on the cover it won't matter what the book is about,  I'll love it regardless. Aly Martinez is one of those authors for me!!

Erica Hill is in  a situation that NOBODY wants to be in. And, I mean NOBODY!! Just when she thinks she is going to die. Leo saves her life.

"I won't hurt you. Ever. You're safe with me." -Slate

3 years later there is no more Erica Hill. Today it's Riley Peterson and her cousin Dave. Riley is a shell of who she used to be. Riley is afraid of every sudden noise, unexpected knocks on a door. Don't touch her. She doesn't sleep. The ONLY person she trusts is Dave.

Dave has it made it his life mission to protect & save Riley. Dave can not get over what happened to Riley. Deep down he wishes he could get her to smile. To get her to become the person she was before that horrible experience she went through. The experience he had to witness.  He never thinks he'll be able to help her. That is until they got a new neighbor.

"Don't give me that crap. That is not true at all and you fucking know it. I don't try to keep you away from anyone. You're the one who is  scared of letting anyone get close. You can have friends, Riley. Jesus, you need someone besides me." -Dave

Slate Adam Andrews is the World Heavyweight Champion of the world. Slate loves fighting in the ring. But, he HATES everything that comes with it. He doesn't like the cameras, the paparazzi, the fans touching him. He stays secluded. When he finishes a fight he goes home to the only place he can be alone.  The place that he can escape. Ohio.

Slate runs into Riley. I mean literally runs into Riley. They both freak. Slate thinks she will recognize him. Riley thinks that since Dave is out of town for a few days that Slate is there to kill her. Slate can tell right of the bat Riley doesn't know who he is. But still introduces himself as Adam. He can tell she's broken. Slate (Now Adam) instantly wants to protect Riley.

"I won't push you, beautiful. Anything that happens from here on out is completely up to you." -Slate

Adam is the first guy Riley has noticed in 3yrs. That night Riley gets scared and runs right to Adam for help. Dave comes home to find Riley & Adam sleeping oh the couch. it doesn't end too pretty. Dave knows instantly who Adam really is. Agrees to keep it a secret. Adam doesn't believe Riley & Dave's story. But, agrees to let them keep it.

"I always thought I would freak out when I was with a man again" -Riley
Over the next few weeks Riley & Slate get closer and closer. Slate knows that Riley isn't telling him the truth. He begs her to tell him. But, he never pushes her. Which is seriously so damn sexy!! Riley has felt alive for the first time in a long time. She has always felt safe with Dave and nobody else. Now, she has Adam and feels safe. But, she is even more scared then before. She knows if they find her and Dave then Adam's life is in danger as well.

"Look, your right. This is all new. We are just getting to know each other, and who the hell knows if it will work out. But I will swear on my life that I will make you safe. Whether this works out or not, I will never let anyone hurt you again."  -Slate

Dave keeps insisting that it'll workout. Dave desperately  wants Riley to start living. Seeing her smile and laugh means the world to him. I loved their relationship. They understand exactly what the other one is fighting in themselves. They're each others only family. One minute they are going back & forth like brother and sister. The next Dave is putting away his "Man Card" to be Riley's girlfriend. Which is hysterical btw. No matter how often they fight. They would die for the other one.

One night Riley & Adam are talking. He decides it's time to tell her the truth. Well, he knew Riley was going to be mad. But, he wasn't expecting what he got. Riley realizes if she gets found Slate will die. She won't do it. Riley breaks up with him.

"I have watched you smile more over the last week than I have seen in the three years we have been forced together. You acted like  a normal person for seven full days, and it was the best moments of my entire fucking life to watch you do it." -Dave

Slate knows it's time for a lifestyle change. After spending time in LA to change what he knows deep down he should of done awhile ago.

Slate comes back to Ohio. Back to Riley. He tells her he needs to know the truth about her and Dave. Dave talks Riley into telling Slate EVERYTHING!!!

"F**k your fairytale. I just want you. I'll make you my own God damn happily ever after. But you're the one who is mistaken. You'll be at the end of that story, beautiful. You either come willingly or you force me into the dark after you. It doesn't matter to me because either way, I'll find you." -Slate

Slate makes a point to letting Riley know he's not leaving. Dave and Slate make it their live to protect Riley. How?? Riley and Dave back their lives. Erica, Leo & Slate start new. Together!! Or is it??

There was so many times I couldn't believe what I was reading. Slate/Adam & Dave/Leo are the hottest, sexiest guys. Who love Riley and would do anything to protect her. To see her smile. It was really nice to see. Dave & Riley are so broken. They never recovered. I didn't think they ever would. Until Slate entered!!

"I think I know you, but I always feel like I'm missing something. It's like you are some seven-billion-piece puzzle, and every time I find a corner tile, you change the entire picture." -Slate

There was times I'd be reading and find myself cheesing. Other times I'd find myself jumping if there was a sudden noise around me. Other times I was laughing so hard. Aly upped her game in this book. I loved everything about this book.

"When I walked in that first night, you were sound asleep but gripping his arm as if your life depended on it. Then when he first got back you ran right past me and into his arms. God it was liberating watching you come alive again." -Dave

The ending definitely was one big SHOCKER to me!! I am honestly counting down to Aly's next book. I can't give anything away. Except there's a few people who need to be fixed. They must be healed from the inside.
"I can see you, but I can’t hear you. There are too many lies and secrets echoing around us, distorting the real woman. I don’t know who you truly are, Riley, but tiny flashes of that woman whisper around the room between us. I will find the real you among the echoes—and I will make her mine." -Slate
