✯✯4 Stars!!!!✯✯

Saving Cassie was not what I expected it to be. Not that it's a not  bad thing. When I 1st started this story I thought it was a mystery. It ended up being a mystery, paranormal, romance kind of story. Yea, crazy I know!

We start off with Cassie AKA Reggie getting ready to turn 6. The night before her birthday her parents are brutally murdered in front of her. She ends up going to live with her grandmother. Now, shes all grown up & her grandmother has died. Cassie has packed up her live in NYC & it headed back to take over her grandmothers bookstore.

On her way back into town Cassie starts to get emotional. She loved her grandmother with all her heart. Cassie doesn't pay much attention while she's driving. That is until the new deputy Logan pulls her over for speeding. These 2 dislike each other INSTANTLY!! Cassie can not wait to get home and tell her only family member her childhood best friend Sheriff James how much of a tool his new deputy is.

James & Cassie have been best friends forever. They have a brother/sister relationship. I really did enjoy the relationship Cassie had with James & his wife Marie and daughter.   We learn quick that Marie want to hook up Logan & Cassie. But, BOTH of them are getting over past relationships that have literally broken them. They are trying to move past that.

Cassie notices right off the bat that something is not right at her grandmothers house. Every time she turns around her front door is wide open, her keys are moved into random places like the refrigerator. One minute all her clothes are all over the room. Then, they're put away. It's all crazy weird stuff that she thought she was going crazy. Until she got a death threat.

James vows to keep her safe. When Cassie refuses to move in with him & Marie. James comes up with the next best solution. Against all Cassie's wishes Logan moves in with her so she isn't alone. They start to get along more & more. Logan definitely notices the weird things that Cassie has been saying.

We learn rather quickly that they are being haunted by 2 different ghosts. The main one is the ghost of the guy who killed Cassie's  parents. We learn he was a cult leader and when her parents left the cult he killed them shortly after. Those details I am not going to give away. The other ghost/spirit in the house is Cassie's grandma. She is around to warn & try and protect them. Grandma is also around to let them know it's OK to open their heart.

Over the next couple weeks James & Logan are fighting to save Cassie's life. None of them know what to expect. They don't know where the danger will come next. All they know is they must do it together or none of them will survive!

I did like this book for a lot of different reasons. I really loved all of the characters in this book. Cassie has been through A LOT. My heart broke for her from the very beginning. She has been through more stuff then most people will ever go through. Yet, she is still a very strong, independent woman. She loves her friends & would do anything for them. Logan also has had a lot of stuff dealt to him. They weren't all good either. James & Marie I adore. They have a great marriage. James loves Cassie as a sister. I love how Marie isn't jealous of Cassie & James. Marie and Cassie have a great relationship.

There was a few things I didn't like. At times I felt that the story was rushed. I felt like some of the story lines could of had a little bit more. There was 3 POV in the book. Cassie, Logan & the ghosts. They bounced back & forth and 1/2 the time I'd get confused and wasn't sure what was going on. There could of been more from the ghosts. But, if there wasn't any POV from them it wouldn't of been a huge miss. Other then that, I really enjoyed this story & really glad I read it.

The House on Persimmon Road by Jackie Weger

Goodreads Synopsis:

Need Help? Hire a Ghost!

Lottie Roberts is restless and lonely. She’s been sitting on her bones for decades, waiting for her ticket to heaven until… Justine Hale and her family take up residence in Lottie’s two-hundred-year-old plantation house. Lottie senses in Justine a kindred spirit—filled with heartache and in reduced circumstances—which Lottie considers mirrors her own situation exactly. Yet Justine is trying to do the right thing. Else why is she burdened with a bankrupt mother without an ounce of common sense? Or an ex mother-in-law who looks like a pickled beet with a tongue sharper than a hatchet? And where is the father of the recalcitrant eleven year-old boy and the eight-year-old afraid of her own shadow?
Justine needs help and Lottie is of a mind to provide it. But before Lottie can say squat and Justine even unlocks the front door, Tucker Highsmith shows up to steal her thunder. His dark eyes, lazy grin, and sexy Alabama drawl coupled with the dern braggart’s Mr. Fix-it talents just might be the answer to all of Justine’s problems. Or maybe not…

Stefanie's Review:

5 Stars!!!

Ok, let me start off with I was asked by the author Jackie Weger. I have never read anything from her before. I'm really, really glad she asked me to read her book!! I haven't read a book this cute in a long time.

We start off with Justine Hale, her children Pip,Judy Ann and her mom and mother-in-law. They're moving to Alabama because   Justine's husband left them to become a monk. Crazy I know!! They move into the old house and boy do I mean old!! It doesn't come with anything new. But, it does come with 2 things... Tucker, the sexy neighbor. Who falls for Justine the INSTANT he meets her. And, Lottie........ The ghost who's been living in the house for over 100 years.

I fell in love with these characters INSTANTLY!! There was so many times I found myself laughing. Poor Justine was stuck in the middle of her mom & mother-in-law constantly fighting & going back and forth. They've never worked a day in their lives. And, don't know how to live poor. They are trying to find themselves. It's really funny seeing them go back and forth all the time.

You have Tucker and his father Wheeler. Who's in a nursing home except for when Tucker brings him home on weekends. Tucker is always helping Justine & the family to fix stuff at the house. All while in love with Justine. He knows she's got her walls up. And, he gets it 100%. Which I loved about him. He didn't push her. But, he also let his feelings for her be known. Even though she vowed to never get into another relationship. They're something about Tucker that has her thinking different.

Pip and Judy Ann are adorable. They are def upset about their father leaving. They def push their mother's patience. Pip along with Wheeler start fishing and start taking pictures. It's really cute. Judy Ann stays close to her mother and grandmother.

Lottie on the other hand. She's a ghost who's “betwixt and between” and determined to regain her physical   form. Everytime I read about her I laughed. The whole book she drove the family crazy. They all thought they were seeing things. Or couldn't figure out where their stuff was going. All she wanted was to be alive.

In this book you'll see a family learn to rebuild their lives. Learn to rebuild their family. I loved how they fought like crazy. But, they still watched each other. I loved watching Tucker & Justine grow. They both had a lot of baggage. They had a lot of walls to climb over. I loved the relationship Tucker and the kids had. And Lottie.... She was determined to get her life back as well. You will most certainly will not be disappointed!! I loved everything in this book. I am so glad I read this book. I'm excited to read more from Jackie Weger!!
